  1. A lot of positive talk about Braxton Jones in camp. If they really found a legit solid LT in the 5th round this year, that's just so massive for the outlook of the team. Obviously, take the talent evaluations from rando bloggers on Twitter with a grain of salt, but yeah.
  2. A better shot of that catch. Dude is legit.
  3. Pretty sweet catch
  4. what is this from
  5. well, (aside from all of the bad moves those FOs made) part of that was that shawon dunston actually really sucked (i did not realize this at the time lol). like REALLY sucked. He was becoming a pretty consistent player until injuries eliminated what should have been his most productive years. He basically missed all of 92 and 93 and half of 94. consistently bad his two highest fWAR seasons were 1.5 and 1.8 (i doubt his bwar is much better). granted, the defensive value numbers on stuff from that long ago can be called into question.
  6. That surprised me as well. And then I thought, "maybe he was a really old rookie in 1989." But nope, he debuted at 25. We're just getting old. What an amazing rookie season he had. He was never quite able to reproduce those results, although he did have a bit of a renaissance in 93-94. Thinking of Dwight Smith made me pull up Jerome Walton's stats for reference and I was amazed by his stat lines from 94-98. It was a very limited sample size over those years, but he was consistently hitting around .300 with OPS in the 750-900 range. Why didn't he get more at bats during that timeframe? Does anyone know why he retired at 32? Don’t know, but the fact that Maddux, Walton, Dwight Smith, Grace, Mitch Williams and Dunston transitioned into one of the worst teams of the 90’s is pretty sad. Edit: and even Sandberg into the mid 90’s had he not quit for awhile. well, (aside from all of the bad moves those FOs made) part of that was that shawon dunston actually really sucked (i did not realize this at the time lol). like REALLY sucked.
  7. I mean, sure, but I’ll watch an NHL game over an NBA game 10 times out of 10. NBA basketball just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. good for you? lol as he comes in to derwood around in an nba thread
  8. yep. and the nhl will never not be the worst pro sports league.
  9. This speaks volumes about the absolute dumpster fire that is the modern NBA. The worst American professional sports league and it isn't even close. lmao what the horsefeathers kind of take is this
  10. because I didn't want to start a NFL offseason thread just for it either lol plus megathreads are evil i'm as anti-megathread as they come, but even I can't get behind a dedicated baker mayfield trade thread on nsbb also, "baker to the panthers?" in what world has he earned first-name-basis status?
  11. lol why do we have a thread for a crappy qb being traded
  12. yeah i had the same thought when i watched it (also had the same thought from the earlier post that the triantos HR looked the same as last night's)
  13. yeah, i'm getting the same impression. guess we'll see if anything more comes out about this. for now, i'm kinda starting to think the people who implied that something smelled off in the failed ogunjobi physical might be onto something. Wait, what? like, if it is the case that nothing awful happened to prompt this sudden firing and in the cutthroat manner it happened, i might be a bit more inclined to believe the speculation that was out there (and i think there was even a report of some close to him saying something to that effect) that the bears basically got cold feet or changed their minds and "found" an excuse to fail his physical (considering they already knew he was recovering from an injury). i don't think it's the case but then stuff like this makes me have doubt. i forget what the other thing that i saw reported at some point recently made me think something was a little off and that poles might just be a huge horsefeathers. in the end, it seems like there has to be some big bad thing that happened to justify firing that guy and in that manner (at this time of year. localized entirely within your kitchen). but it's also possible poles is a crazy horsefeathers i guess.
  14. People speculating that there had to be an incident, otherwise it’s a terrible look by Poles to do over phone while the guy is on vacation. I think a lot of what Poles has done so far, or rather not done, lends credence to the notion that he’s just an ahole who doesn’t care how this impacts somebody he didn’t hire. Or, put another way: yeah, i'm getting the same impression. guess we'll see if anything more comes out about this. for now, i'm kinda starting to think the people who implied that something smelled off in the failed ogunjobi physical might be onto something.
  15. I think they confused rim protection with just being tall. Replacing Tristan Thompson with Drummond and DJJ with Gallo is probably a net gain, but it probably takes them from 6th seed to.......a 6th seed that clinches a couple days earlier. I mean, health is obviously the million dollar question with this team. They were one of the best teams in the NBA (and the analytics backed it) when they were healthy. They lost arguably (is it even, really?) their two most important defensive players right when their schedule was getting to its toughest point. With those guys they were one of the best defensive teams in the league, disrupting passing lanes and causing constant havoc. Without them, what was arguably their biggest strength turned into a huge weakness. On top of that, their second best player was playing through an injury all year. Remains to be seen if some semblance of a healthy season is in play for those guys, particularly Lonzo, but if it is, this is team is better than that. They were a 6th seed with all that crap happening. EDIT - Also, I, personally, have major doubts about Patrick Williams but plenty of people (people who know a lot better than I do) believe there's something there. If there is and he's capable of taking a leap and putting some of his freak attributes to use, all bets are off.
  16. Ted Karras - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/ted-karras/10855 Alex Cappa - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/alex-cappa/66578 La'el Collins - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/lael-collins/9719 https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-most-improved-unimproved-position-groups-2022-nfl-free-agency but hey pull some more stuff out of your ass well, ok. Since you love pff so much, why are none of them here, while one of those they are replacing is(?): https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2022-nfl-free-agency-rankings-offensive-tackles well, collins wasn't available until march and that was written in january and the other two guys aren't tackles
  17. all 3 were backups or cast off by their former team...its not like Cincy made huge strides there Ted Karras - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/ted-karras/10855 Alex Cappa - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/alex-cappa/66578 La'el Collins - https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/lael-collins/9719 https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-most-improved-unimproved-position-groups-2022-nfl-free-agency but hey pull some more stuff out of your ass
  18. Im rather skeptical that Cincinnati will ever make it back to the SB with their current build. Even with massive upgrades to the OL and skill players on offense, talent wise they would only start to be online with the together AFC leaders like Buffalo or KC. They were a fluke, and LA showed the world that in end uh they have joe burrow, joe mixon, ja'marr chase, tee higgins... tyler boyd is their 3rd best WR. what massive upgrades do they need to their skill players?
  19. i'm mostly checked out on this season and there was little they could've done to piss me off this much but this is it.
