  1. i knew scott rolen was really really damn good (like a 4-6 win a year guy), but i'd have not guessed he had a 9 WAR season (in only 142 games too)
  2. just out of pure boredom it occurred to me to see how starlin was doing and then to see how he was doing since the yankees played us and he had those crazy good numbers .277/.313./.426 .313 wOBA 93 wRC+ in 208 PA so, kinda normal starlin castro numbers still a very good .307/.344/.472 .346 wOBA and 116 wRC+ in 337 PA overall
  3. If you aren't good enough to contend, and have no terrific path to get there, then isn't that all the justification you need to blow things up? i don't think nba hell really exists in baseball because the playoffs are the exact opposite of the nba. anyone who gets in can win. that said, if the cardinals aren't even good enough to be in serious competition for one of two wild cards (right now they have 29% playoff odds, 19% of which is for a wild card spot - so, lol at that other 10% or so), then yeah, i'd say blow it up but it's not like it's hard for them to get where they are now to being a solid wild card bet going forward. that said, yeah, i guess with the cubs projecting to varying degrees of juggernaut for the next few years, capping your hopes of contention at a wild card game is sort of hellish.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] just read his replies to this if you want all of them. way too many to post all of them. here's a couple: [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] i thought verlander presented a major luxury tax problem for them...
  6. Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 3m3 minutes ago Trubisky to Shaheen for a #Bears touchdown. Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 1m1 minute ago Right now: Bryce Callahan is lining up as the CB2. Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 3m3 minutes ago Glennon had a wide open Wheaton down field but opted for the check down to the fullback. Sigh. Chris Emma‏Verified account @CEmma670 2m2 minutes ago Adam Shaheen's size is as advertised. Development is needed but he's going to be a big target. Bob LeGere‏ @BobLeGere 2m2 minutes ago #Bears rookie QB Mitch Trubisky ends 11-on-11 possession by threading the needle on a deep middle route to rookie TE Adam Shaheen. Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 3m3 minutes ago #Bears just ran a tight end screen to Shaheen. Yes please! Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 2m2 minutes ago Trubisky continues to impress. Just had the perfect throw over the defenders on a shallow cross. Adam Hoge‏Verified account @AdamHoge 46s46 seconds ago Trubisky with a "wow" throw, flicking his wrist on the run and delivering a 15-yard laser to Braverman. START TRUBISKY!!! 7. i'm reading training camp tweets and i'm ready to buy a trubisky shirsey
  8. Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 2m2 minutes ago Trubisky threading the needle Da Bears Brothers‏ @DaBearsBros 35s36 seconds ago Trubisky just laid the ball perfectly in the hands of Tanner Gentry 40+ yards downfield.
  9. 6% of his games have come this season doesn't seem THAT crazy, especially with the ball juicing stuff
  10. just walked shaw and is staying in after a visit from maddux on 105
  11. scherzer just threw his 100th pitch with a 14 run lead let's see how this goes
  12. [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. lmao this is great nats must be pissed about the ejax game
  14. I was just going to say, can't wait for Dusty to have Scherzer go 120+ pitches in this one because last night they let the Brewers rally a bit in the 9th with a big lead i mean you'd hope it would at least be less than the 116 pitches he left prior in for with like an 11 run lead in game 2 of the nlcs
  15. what do you suppose scherzer's pitch count will be in this game?
  16. get out of here with this bad mojo nonsense unless you're talking about mojo, who is bad. i meant both
  17. jed was just asked if we have enough starting pitching basically went on to say you never have enough and after the deadline, if there are injuries, they become much harder to address. brought up some examples of guys getting hurt late in the year last year and teams not having options. he did go on to say that it's more likely that they'll end up making a smaller deal and already made their big deal a few weeks ago (nothing ground breaking)
  18. lmao yeah i had no idea they had a day game until i just saw the game thread on brewerfan.net then i checked the score rofl
  19. What am I missing? 7/21, that thread says "World Champion Cubs"... What he is referring to is the 3rd game against the Braves, I ended up editing it after Bryant left the game injured, and as a result of my edit the Cubs won the game and Bryant only missed 1 game. Yah that
  20. FTFY. We've been doing it all year and just now made it back to 1st. Not doing it led to umfan blowing his glory with that inning against st Louis
