    Said this a couple days ago. I going to assume those questions about Fields were from Bears people wanting them to dunk on anyone who had that opinion. That's basically how I saw it.

    That doesn't really explain why he was amazing, exploded his kneecap, then immediately stopped being amazing. the signstealinggate Houston happened in between as well - meaning yelich probably realized the gig was up he was projecting when he replied to darvish on twitter

    Man, I am so out of the loop I didn't even hear about this. Be the Ricketts actually gave him a bonus under the table. yeah he was vocally very supportive of kanye (yeah, yeah) and kyrie's BS a few months ago.

    i think he mentioned at some point (he might've tweeted it between anti-Semitic takes or telling anyone who is mildly critical that they don't matter and he is better than them because they aren't MLBers and he is) that he was specifically working on that this spring.

    yeah. maybe the starting rotation/sign up can be brought back if the cubs are ever good enough to excite this board enough again and traffic gets to where it needs to get, but for now i'd posit that it's best to shelve it and go with an automated game thread post (assuming it's easy enough to implement).

    on that last point, i think if/when the team is legit good again, that sort of activity will pick back up. what i feel towards the cubs of the last 3ish years or so is generally just apathy. if things look like they're going well, my interest picks up. when things are going to horsefeathers, as they have been for a while, i still follow day to day but don't have a ton of interest in discussing them. there was a similar vibe in here around 2011/12 when theo came in and we realized they were going full tear-down. a lot of people said stuff like, "i'm not sure i'll ever be back where i was in 2008," which was definitely true for some. hell, things were so bleak in 2012-13 that even i found myself venturing into the daily minor league threads. but when things started to turn around, things seemed to pick back up here too in a big way. i know 2023 is even further away from the golden era of these types of places, but i still imagine things will pick back up things if/when the team is legitimately looking good again.

    Uh, not for non-sports stuff. There's "Social" and "Rants." fair. the off topic stuff was what i was mainly thinking of as the place for some megathreads. i guess it depends on how granular you would want to get with that stuff and how much the traffic does or doesn't warrant it.

    Let it be known that I am still firmly in team down with megathreads, especially with all of these sub-forums already there to organize topics (for the most part...true miscellaneous discussion stuff has its place)

    We should credit Bum with all the great stuff. Da Bum hand-timed a bunch of his friends running 90 feet and proved that diving into first is slightly faster. Wait, I'm pretty positive the sliding into first guy was someone else, too. wasn't that part of the joke

    honestly raisin's daily minor league posts and the consistency with which he does them is one of the most impressive things going here lol i wish i could achieve that sort of daily consistency with literally almost any aspect of my life. the only thing i do that often is shower and brush my teeth.
