  1. That was hardly the only mistake. Losing Schwarber for nothing was dumb. I was specifically thinking of Bryant, Rizzo, Baez & Contreras. But essentially swapping Schwarber for Joc was indeed dumb. Meh. Schwarber was a career 113 OPS+ guy with no defensive value when the Cubs let him go. What the hell were they going to get for him? He has hit better the past two seasons, but still has yet to exceed 3 WAR in his career. Not sweating him or that decision whatsoever. The hindsight angst some people have over it is overblown. Hell, Joc was a better hitter last year.
  2. i probably would too, but word is he tanked his pro day today BADLY. looked really out of shape. I keep reading about how he's an absolute monster some games and invisible other games, seems to have motivation issues. I have a feeling with today's news he is going to drop to mid-1st. Could be wrong but there are a lot of red flags surrounding him. this is like if jamarcus russell had had his whole career before the draft

  4. some twitter smoke that we might be getting close to signing darius slay that's a hell of a secondary/back 7 if they add him too. maybe it makes some sense now that coverage is at more of a premium because of how difficult it is to generate a pass rush against the quicker passing stuff. still can't have the DL composed of scrubs, though.
  5. what are we really arguing about here? i'll take an elite player anywhere. i guess the real point of contention is defining what elite means. but if adrian peterson or like marshall faulk or something were in this draft, i'd gladly take them *almost* regardless of surrounding circumstances. otherwise, yeah, just plug whatever dude in and get 70-80% of the impact at a much lower price (whether it's draft currency, money, whatever).
  6. I'm getting the same vibes, almost every offensive player he's signed or traded for appears, for their position, to be a good run blocker. I loathe the meathead run the ball, defense approach it's woefully outdated, it will not work in today's NFL and its boring as hell. I agree running is important, most especially having a mobile QB - a Mahomes scramble was key to the Chiefs B win - but you've got to throw the ball to win games. It's puzzling to me that Poles, coming from the Chiefs, is going along such a route. weird thing to say when the shanahan stuff (which is essentially what getsy is running) is all the rage. the extreme run-heavy approach to play-calling last year had more to do with a lack of personnel (WRs, OL) on a tank roster than anything (maybe fields learning the offense too). but yes, they need actual dudes on the OL.
  7. The SI article posted earlier mentioned this article in their praise of the signings:
  8. They got better players and a draft pick (and not having him probably helped the tank). What are you complaining about? Good riddance to that weirdo flake. If you think Roquan was that important to the tank, then he was probably worth the money he got paid That doesn't run counter to anything I said. And he's a flake.
  9. Is he a Edge in Eberflus defense? He's the Brian Urlacher
  10. They got better players and a draft pick (and not having him probably helped the tank). What are you complaining about? Good riddance to that weirdo flake.
  11. Iirc Tim mentioned at some point that the plan is to merge them all together
  12. PFF is a random number generator - to steal Kyle's line - as it is, but with the Bears extremely unorthodox absurdly run heavy play calling, I put less than zero stock in their decent pass blocking grades. Not usually that guy but it's obvious to anybody who watched that it's wildly wrong. Plus it's football and the metrics, esp for line play, are wonky as horsefeathers.
  13. DJ would already be our all time leader in receiving yards at age 25 lol
  14. no he wouldn't be I'm glad you're confident. Scouting reports, notes from 49ers fans and stats all seem to think he's a great run-blocker who is really, really bad in pass protection. he's not really really bad in pass protection. but you do you. "notes from 49ers fans" lmao he's a great run blocker and he's an OK pass blocker. the guys we have are not OK pass blockers, PFF's evaluation of their pass blocking (while being protected by the playcaller eschewing passing in obvious passing situations to a comical extent) notwithstanding
  15. Panthers could easily be #1 pick bad next year lol
  16. I kinda want to trade down again in the first and pick up another 2023 2nd
