  1. There is no excuse for Aramis to only be at second... WTF?? I don't ever question his hustle, because i know about his groin injuries, but that was inexcusable.
  2. If anything, I wish they'd replace the regular season alternate blues with the spring training blues. I prefer the navy blue. And I'm not a fan of the away greys. I even preferred the mid-90's away jerseys with "Cubs" scripted across the front over the current ones.
  3. WHY OH WHY DOES ESPNHD HAVE TO BE BLACKED OUT IN CHICAGO???
  4. The franchise we know as The Chicago Cubs is currently in it's 130th season of competition in the National League. To casually throw around phrases like "unprecedented to the ..... franchise" suggests that you have done little or no research on this team. You may want to start with 1935. Start with 1935? For a little more relevant argument, how about going back 20 years and pull out the years when the monster last month carried the Cubs into the playoffs....... In 1984 the CUBS went 16-11 (0.592) in September to finish 96-65 (0.596). While that's good, I'd hardly call it a monster last month. Yea, the 2003 team closed it out better than that... 19-8 in September, and it could easily have been 20-7 or 21-6 (Alou's foul ball in the game we lost to the Cards and a couple of games we easily could have won against the Expos come to mind)... Whatever, either way they got it done and got in.
  5. The thing is, getting back to .500 is more of a long-term goal than sweeping the Astros... (I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that...)
  6. What team do you see winning 90?? This group of wildcard contenders don't look too strong. Anyone know what's the lowest win total to take the wildcard?? I don't know.. but in 2003 we took the division with only 87... :) 88. My bad, you're right.. I think 87 might have been the 2001 win total. I was thinking we won 88 last year, and I knew we won one more last year than in 03... but we actually won 89. That team could easily have won 92-93 games..

  8. I do share your optimism, but I don't think 2/3 is enough. We'd only gain one game on them... while 5.5 out with that many left to play isn't a horrible situation, it's not all that much better than where we're at now... So, how about we just get that sweep you were talking about??
  9. I like the idea of Lawton, Griffey and Corey. Put a fork in Burnitz. I like it too... Maybe if we can pull off a miracle and sweep the 'Stros, Hendry will make a big move like that.... Why do I always get my hopes up???
  10. OH! And then DFA BeerLeague Burnitz. I'd venture to say that Corey, at this point, is a better CF than Griffey...
  11. Or good coaching, something the Cubs sorely lack. Yeah, LaRussa goes and swings the bat for these scrubs. gmab Yea.. I don't think most Cards fans would agree that LaRussa is a good manager... They were all over him for his first 7 years there...
  12. WTF?? I was sure that was gone.. that Frank Rodriguez mope caught that???!!!
  13. Better than Walker this year, (especially hitting for the cycle) and he is still better than Walker defensively. In what world is .299/.339/.419 better than .296/.346/.456?
  14. I like this lineup... Almost (if not) perfect...
  15. Aren't you in Chicago? You go to DePaul, right? Or did you go back home for the summer?
  16. yes, yes it its. It's very quiet in here. Shhhhhh Sounds like they might keep you with the Braves/D'Backs game once the Cubs game starts, Der...
  17. Did regular WGN have all those weird technical difficulties just now too, or was it just WGN-HD?
  18. 2002 I wonder if 20 wins in a row would be enough to solve all of our non-Dusty problems and save the season... :-k
  19. D-Lee!! Damn this Jekyll and Hyde team..
  20. Basehit Todd.. 2 on nobody out!
  21. 3 fly ball outs and a single... Let's see what the O can do.
