  1. His W-L record isn't really the issue. At all.
  2. Since Tom House is Prior's personal pitching coach I wonder if Marshall is putting House down as well. This is a very interesting subject and I'm curious what direction this will go. If I'm not mistaken, this guy has been coming out with this for the past two or three years. Two years ago, I thought he was a lunatic/quack just trying to push his ideas. Now...well I still think he's nuts, but I'm having my doubts.
  3. I'm not sure what this ultimately means. It's better than bad news, I guess. Hey, no quoting entire articles! See, that's why I got rid of like 4 words in mine.
  4. Diagnosis - "shoulder strain" http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060316cubsprior,1,1714537.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  5. I don't know what your definition of significant is, but I think they'd definitely sell less tickets in that scenario. Like Jon outlined above, it'd be a drop in the ocean. It's next to impossible to get tickets to see a particular starter pitch, so even if people did buy tickets for the exact purpose of seeing Prior pitch, they were in for a crapshoot anyways. Not that I think that knowing about this before would've significantly impacted ticket sales, but there's another way to look at this. The overall ability of this team to compete is definitely hurt by injuries, especially to one Mark Prior. Some people (maybe not a significant amount) would be soured on seeing the team, period, with this type of news, regardless of who would be pitching the day they'd be going to the game.
  6. Thow me on the list, please. Hopefully I'll get to start some meaningful September game threads! :D
  7. WHAT A CANCER!!!!! I love it. Go TWalk!
  8. Yep. And it was still in their hands after the game remained tied. Japan still had every opportunity to keep the US from scoring and to win it themselves. Besides, as everyone else already said here, nobody knows what would've happened on *either* side had the call gone the other way.
  9. LOL.. same here! It's a shame that if we win this it's going to be tainted by that terrible call though. Hopefully we can score 2 here to at least save SOME face. Nevermind.. it's the 9th, lol.. Unless we homer... Ugh.. winning run cut down at 3rd.

  11. A little late, but just thought I'd throw in that there is still such a thing as Fox Sports Net Chicago. Satellite doesn't carry it, but cable does. Obviously, they don't carry the major pro sports teams anymore. All I know is that they show a lot of poker.
  12. Well, I'm the guy that does this type of operation. Hahahahah... OWNT..
  13. It's really not.
  14. I'm not saying that they are the sole reason for victory, but they certainly didn't hurt their team. 2 of the last 3 World Series have had the same style lead off hitter, we have the guy that did it once if you want to rip apart the construction of the team I think it's more logical to look elsewhere. Not that I have a huge problem with Murton (or really Pierre for that matter), but I'd start by ripping up the whole outfield. It's terrible. Can't complain a whole lot about the infield or pitching staff.
  15. How bout a picture of Josh Beckett and Mark Buerhle or Jose Contreras (or any of those guys, for that matter)... That'd actually be a much better correlation to make..
  16. I think you've made my point. I'd rather he not steal much. Even if he was at 75%, he'd barely be over the breakeven point and it wouldn't be very productive. No I didn't. There's no way you are going to get Jaun Pierre to "not steal much". .. I said either let him be himself or not steal at ALL. I'm sorry I disagree. I think his success rate leads to more runs than his caught stealing negates runs. The official "break even" point I beleive was 77%. Meaning 77% or higher actually lead to more runs than the caught stealing took away. Don't take me so literally. If it were up to me, he wouldn't steal at all. BTW, Pierre is 74% for his career, and 73% over the last 3 years. So, you really did make my point.

  18. Those Italian jerseys look an awful lot like LA.
  19. Isn't anyone above 75% considered to be an effective base stealer? A lot of people see 75% as the break-even line, meaning 3 stolen bases balances out 1 caught stealing. 77% may make it worth it, but it's not exactly good. What would you consider good? Not wasting precious offensive currency by giving away outs?
  20. I'm hoping to buy it as soon as it comes out.
  21. Don't feel like it's the world against you. I'm with you, entirely.
  22. All three healthy, I'd really have to take Prior over Z. Heck, if we're throwing that health qualifier in, a case can even be made for Wood. He's next to unhittable when he's actually on the mound. I guess a case could be made for any of the three. If only it weren't for damn health thing...
