  1. and the use of that term goes all the way back to gflore34 saying a "healthy kris bryant makes all the difference in the world" like that's a thing that is anywhere near automatically going to happen
  2. healthy can mean "as healthy as he's gonna get" and not necessarily the same guy he was before the injury. Now you're making beeping sounds as you back up from your point. no, you're right, the entire time i meant that kris bryant MIGHT make up for javy's regression if he reverts back to an 8 win player, because that's obviously what i meant by "healthy"
  3. by all accounts, yu darvish is "healthy" right now. that doesn't mean he's going to go put up a season like he had a few years ago (though i'm sure as horsefeathers hopeful he will)
  4. I think people are expressing doubts about his health more than questioning how productive he can be when healthy. Nope, that's not what they're saying. healthy can mean "as healthy as he's gonna get" and not necessarily the same guy he was before the injury.
  5. rest didn't help all that much last year i'm far from some doom boner alarmist, but there is a non-zero chance that he is permanently broken or at least that the ceiling on his production dropped significantly. and i feel like calling it non-zero might be underselling it.
  6. not that i care all that much about these minor league dorks, but it would seem that the fact that he's still active at all would be an indication that it's not that serious an injury
  7. a healthy kris bryant just hopefully makes up for the likely regression from the superstar version of javy baez we unexpectedly got in 2018. Going from the 2 WAR version of Bryant to the 8 WAR version of Bryant would do a lot more than cover for regression from Baez. aiming a little high are we?
  8. i cannot for the life of me understand the mindset of the fan that (either rationalizing or bc they really somehow believe this) thinks "actually the cubs not even trying to sign a once in a generation free agent is not terrible" if they're not using it to pay manny machado or bryce harper, of all players, they're saving it for their own pockets. that is not better.
  9. Did we not know weeks ago a Harper signing was financially impossible? Harper or no Harper a healthy Kris Bryany makes all the difference in the world. I also believe the Cubs will get quite a bit more from one of or both of Darvish and Chatwood in '19 than '18. a healthy kris bryant just hopefully makes up for the likely regression from the superstar version of javy baez we unexpectedly got in 2018.
  10. from reading back in that thread, i apparently still owe nocode a beer

  14. yeah, i was curious too...figured maybe he's talking about the visitors side. can't find any article, though.

  20. thank you goony for making that reply for me
  21. Yeah one of the articles I skimmed this morning mentioned that Yankee Stadium has each gate sponsored, which seems like a next logical step for Wrigley. I'm not positive, but I think the Cubs are more or less there.
  22. i mean i've been checking in online for as long as i can remember...like well over a decade. that's nothing new. i use mobile tickets now but a lot of times i still print a paper one because it's just easier to deal with once you're there (if i'm checking a bag and have to use the kiosk anyway). and maybe my anecdotal claim is off but i still feel like i'm in the minority when i'm boarding using a mobile ticket (or delaying the line bc of scanning issues).
  23. https://670thescore.radio.com/cubs-full-speed-ahead-all-star-game-2021-new-tv-network Some tidbits I came across that I hadn't heard about (and some that we've heard some stuff about before)... I've seen elsewhere that they will be installing LED lighting. also, what the hell is crane talking about? i still see plenty of people printing/using paper tickets at the airport...and if the line ever slows down, it's usually for my damn mobile ticket that isn't scanning right.
  24. i remember my, like, 7th grade science teacher telling us that when he was a kid, people were so excited about x-ray technology that they were using them in shoe stores to size people for shoes. the 40's and 50's were wild as horsefeathers with their technology, man.
  25. oh man i have no idea how old a reference this is anymore, but it feels like a million years ago
