  1. Supposedly it's Murton, Gallagher, and Patterson for Roberts. There is some talk that the O's are trying to squeeze another player, possibly Cedeno, into the package.
  2. Same. As long as it's not out in the suburbs. My "dream" has always been a new retro-Wrigley-style park somewhere right on the lake, like Northerly Island. Wouldn't really be practical, though, and it would probably be cold as all hell in the early and late season months.
  3. Latest update from bigbird... Take it for what it's worth... http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56702 Also, it is believed that the intentionally leaked false info was the info (to weed out the leak) about the Reds upping their offer for Bedard.
  4. Not a chance. If they are now just getting to review the clubs financial records, it cannot happen in two days and most of baseball is out for the holidays. First Zell would need to select who he wants to sell to and I think he has bigger fish to fry revamping the executive level of Tribune. Then it needs to be approved by the ownership committee. THEN, it goes to the owners who would have to meet and approve the deal. That doesn't happen in two days. Who the heck is O's Insider anyhow? Sounds like a blog which means don't believe it. It was a joke.
  5. I'd say they're full of crap. There's nothing to that effect on their site.
  6. If Murton's gone, there's a good chance DeRosa is taking that bench spot.
  7. I'm not sure who considers Soriano an "elite" outfielder, but as average as he might be fielding LF, he's far worse fielding 2B. That said, I wouldn't be at all opposed to putting Soriano at 2B and Murton in LF. His bat would be much more valuable at 2B.
  8. Lawl at Andy Pratt (and Felix Sanchez, for that matter) being part of "Murderer's Throw."
  9. That might be. But then I don't really know what Omar meant by that. One is a feature column in a major metropolitan newspaper. The other is a famous guy's internet blog.
  10. It probably didn't help that it was jersey/goony that was making the joke.
  11. Could all just be posturing to try and squeeze more out of the Cubs.
  12. I really don't know what you mean by that.
  13. :?: :?: Judging by his recent columns, he'd be very happy.
  14. Yea, I've been listening and hadn't heard anything either. Weird. Is he just making things up?
  15. Are Chicago radio stations really reporting that a deal is done? http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/roch/blog/2007/12/roberts_rumors.html
  16. I'm really not sure what the point of re-listing the tools was?
  17. I'll assume you're talking about the extreme anomaly that is Adam Everett in that his fielding ability outweighs his worthlessness with a bat. His glove makes him an above average player despite his terrible bat. He just so happens to be so much better than everyone else at fielding his position that this is the case. That's extremely rare.
  18. like adam everett? What?
  19. pointing out the physical ability of a player and suggesting he has potential isnt stupid promoting him soley on that basis is That's not the stupid part. The stupid part is that the tools are dumb, seemingly chosen completely arbitrarily, and there's an incredible disparity among them in importance.
  20. tell juan pierre that Juan Pierre sucks because he can't hit. The lack of a throwing arm is just icing on the big fat rotten cake that is his offensive game. but if he had an arm, he might have some value-which is what i was trying to get to No, he'd still suck. That's the point I'm getting to. Even if he had a gold glove on top of that arm, he'd still suck because he can't hit is way out of a paper bag. That's the whole point of what I'm saying about the five tools. A couple of them are so much more important than the rest that it's not even worth putting them together like that.
  21. How is it not stupid?
  22. When I said five tool, I wasn't giving weight to one tool or another. When someone is called a five tool prospect, that just means they possess above average talent in every physical skill, which is rare for a baseball player. It doesn't mean they'll be a good baseball player, it just means they're superior physically and can do more things on the field. Of course, they still have to be able to hit to be valuable I'm not really referring to or arguing against anything you said. Just ranting about how stupid the "five-tool player" notion is.
