  1. Why is Ohman starting an inning against a lineup that doesn't have a left handed hitter?
  2. calm down, it's the person's first post welcome cubbette!
  3. IMO, a lot of us wrongly group together Wood and Prior, and therefore attribute problems or attitudes towards one of them that are misguided.
  4. I don't know if it's a typo or you're looking at the wrong month, but May is the 5th month.
  5. TT, are those for his career or for this season? I went through all of the boxscores for June and he's only 10/39 (.256 BA) this month. This season, although brewcrewball hasn't updated since the 6th, so the June numbers aren't very accurate. Forgot to check the update day when I first got them.
  6. huh, I thought it said 385 minutes when they were coming out after halftime.
  7. It's mind boggling that Bynum is our only option if we don't want to play Jones against LHP.
  8. He's obviously doing it for shock value or something. No one is that dumb THAT'S IT. I'm killing Dusty. I don't care if I go to jail for life. He's dead. Anyone know where he is? Where he is, I know not.
  9. why does this thread exist
  10. By month: April: .300/.370/.500/.870 May: .230/.304/.372/.676 June: .320/.346/.560/.906
  11. What other smart person picked Jason Schmidt, you smart, smart, smarty you.

  13. Too bad those blowups happen though.... I don't get what you're trying to say. Are you saying too bad they HAPPENED to marshall. You think they will continue to happen to marshall. Too bad it happens to ALL pitchers? The point is that Marshall has pretty much been as good as his numbers indicate. He's had some pretty bad ones and some pretty good ones. Right now he's had more good than bad and his numbers reflect that pretty accurately.
  14. I gotta say I liked watching the Swiss play today. I also enjoyed laughing at France's inability to score a World Cup goal in what, 430 minutes now?
  15. hill turned 26 in march. if you look at his stats in the minors the last 2 years i dont see how you cant put him in the "prime pitcher" catagory. age aside, he has been the most dominate lefty in the minors the last 2 seasons. he also has had great command in the minors this year as opposed to when he has pitched in the bigs (for whatever reason). I don't think that's quite true. He's a better than average lefty in the minors who's now (my bad on the age) 26 and still can't stick. Not prime. I'd be real curious to find out who's been better than Hill these last two years. He's not just succeeding in the minor leagues, he's absolutely shredding them, especially this year.
  16. I find it amusing how you make two posts saying how baseball is random and is poorly described by stats, and then go and end your post by saying that the reason the cubs are bad is because they have low OBP. Also, i would like to meet these four or five good high OBP players. I can think of two good obp guys for the cubs this year: Barrett and Walker. And one who is decent: Murton (and he's in a downward obp spiral) corner infielders
  17. It was the last sentence's philosophy that made Corey so bad with the Cubs. Not to mention the fact that he really wasn't that good at it. Except that's not really a fact at all. Actually, the exact opposite is true.
  18. An old man was asked, while lying on his deathbed, "Old man, if you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?" The old man sat up and said, "I wouldn't have taken it so serious."
  19. I think that is right: Z = 07' Prior = 08' Correct. That will change after January. Extension for Z?
  20. It was brought about by another thread.
  21. I don't recognize the name, and BA has him with 1 IP at AA this year, while on the AAA roster now.
  22. one good start by marmol and marshall's 4.43 era remind you of prior's near cy young season and wood's 14 win, 3.19 era and amazing pitching down the stretch leading the cubs to the postseason? that's some imagination you got there. While I agree it's a stretch. He's just basically excited to see some pretty decent young guys step up and possibly be our pitchers next year. Don't put a downer on that please!! You have to remember also that marshalls ERA is inflated by that one inning where he gave up like 6 or 7 runs. He's had a handful of only giving up 1-3 runs per game. 4 of his 12 starts he's been pretty bad(4 ER/4.1 IP, 4 ER/5 IP, 9 ER/3.2 IP, 7 ER/3.1 IP), so it's not like one or two outings are really skewing his numbers.
