  1. Yep, I don't mind it as much when a stiff like Kaun is defending him, because he can penetrate very well. But when Wright or Arthur are defending you, it's time to set picks and get in the paint.
  2. It would be okay with me if we got the short end of every call for the rest of time as long as these whistlefests go away. If this game hadn't been out of reach for the last 5-6 minutes(well, it was out of reach longer than that, but that's when both teams kinda backed off) it would've been 50+ fouls easily. Anderson got his first technical as a Tiger. One thing that bothered me was how once we got up 16-8, Anderson took out basically all of the starters. That's when Kansas went on an eleventy bajillion to two run. They were hot, why take them out? Also, you knew it was going to be a long day with the refs because Anderson took the suit jacket off about 7 minutes into the game. Usually it doesn't come off until late in the first half or the second half. Yep, some of Anderson's substitution patterns are starting to bug me. Marshall Brown must've hit on his daughter or something, he disappeared from the floor for looong stretches. I'm also of the opinion that there's no way that Watkins should be entering the game before Tiller. Anderson was pissed with good reason too. We were in the double bonus by the 10 minute mark, and the discrepancy was 9 to 2 around the 12 minute mark. I longed for Hightower or Welmer.

  4. "There's no need to shout" "I'M NOT SHOUTING!...ALL RIGHT I AM, I'M SHOUTING! I'M SHOUTING! I'M SHOU-"

  6. Andy Katz was one of 20 writers put through a mock selection committee. Fascinating stuff here.
  7. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z2ZuIXI1VgM So now you're saying it's okay what the newspaper did because of one incident by one player. A little unfair don't you think? You're taking my posts about the topic far too seriously.

  9. I'd like to say that I completely approve of all of that. I'd like to say it's totally classless... You're just pissed cuz Mizzou sucks, and lost twice to us this year. Well, get use to it. It won't change next year. In response to this, and I can't speak for TT, but I'm more than pleasantly surprised that we have 14 wins already this year. I had NO expectations coming into this season, and Mike Anderson has already shown that he can build a winning program here. I said at the beginning of the year I'd be happy with sneaking into the NIT, and we have a solid chance at 17-19 wins. And yes, it will change next year. Demarre Carroll alone could put us at at least .500 in the Big 12. Plus, give guys like Tiller and K. Lawrence more experience, this team will be MUCH better next year. Really, it's no surprise that Mizzou isn't doing all that well in the Big 12. They have 1 senior who doesn't and shouldn't play all that much. They have Freshman and Sophomores combining for about 80 minutes a game, plus a couple 1st year JUCOs combining for about 45 more. Anderson didn't inherit a senior-heavy team like Huggins did. I definitely share the enthusiasm about next year's team though. Carroll is just what the doctor ordered, and hopefully Anderson makes the one scholarship count with who he brings in.
  10. Didn't see any tackles from the Mizzou game there. :P Seriously though, he sounds like quite the talent.
  11. Huggins has only had the chance to recruit, what, 2 or 3 players so far, and one of them has already gotten ejected for straight up throwing a haymaker to the back of someone's head(and he also almost obliterated a chair when they came to Columbia). Huggins's past speaks for itself, he recruits thug athletes and if he makes the tournament he underperforms his seed.
  12. That was outstanding. I was a little disappointed with them against Nebraska, I thought they could've done a lot better, but I bet they pull out all the stops against Kansas. No doubt Texas Tech was their best showing with the pregame signs. "Zeno Warrior Princess" for Zeno "Knight School Dropout" for Voskuhl "Dora Got Explored" for Dora And the timeless classic for anytime the weather is bad: Player A: "Plows the Road" Player B that follows Player A: "The Road" I can hardly wait for Saturday.
  13. I'd like to say that I completely approve of all of that. It might be funny(ish), but I'd like to see the school paper make better decisions than this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/KSCS11002080415-1.jpg I'm debating several responses to this. A) That's just good journalism B) What do you expect, it is Kansas' J-School or combining them for C) That's good writing, even for Kansas So whichever one you like best, pretend that's what I said. I wonder if they'll be on Rush as much as they were last year. I have to admit that I liked "Four different High Schools, still can't read!" being chanted as he took free throws.
  14. I'd like to say that I completely approve of all of that.
  15. yesyesyesyesyes Our linebacking corps blow, thank you George. On the other hand, reading MSU's board they're saying he projected to be a D-Lineman, which we already have in spades.
  16. He didn't say that someone should be put on the roster only as an emergency catcher-he just asked if anybody currently on the roster could serve as an emergency catcher. While it may not come up during the season, it's still a good thing to know. It may not come up but could easily happen. Pinch hitter for the starter then the back up gets hurt. Presto you need a 3rd catcher. Like I said earlier, when is Blanco going to be pinch hitting while there are still players on the bench? He's the worst bat on the bench.
  17. Not cool. I'm following on Gametracker at work and didn't notice the time when you made that post. Unless ESPN is lying to me, Mizzou is up 12 at the under-12 timeout. It was about this time that they blew a similar lead against ISU in their last meeting.
  18. The emergency catcher typically needs to be on the 25 man roster. In all honesty, I don't really care who it is, and we better not be keeping someone who shouldn't be on the roster just because of it. Blanco is probably the worst hitter on the bench, there's no reason for another bench player still being available if he's already been inserted, which leaves only the very unlikely double catcher injury as the only thing that would require an emergency catcher.
  19. Yep, this is supposed to be Pinkel's best class yet. Too bad we couldn't end up with William Cole, but at least he didn't go to kU or anywhere in the North. Amie would be a nice addition to cap off the class.
  20. you beat texas at texas. and you beat us at lawrence last year. I'm worried about the game. you should be more worried about your trip to columbia on saturday. okay, i'm lying. i'm expecting you guys to finally get a win in the new arena, and i bet it will be by at least 15. I don't know what you're talking about. We'll probably dominate that game, and then get punked by Baylor and Colorado in our building over the next couple weeks. Inconsistency is mind bending.
  21. Pretty sure it was Harris. It was Manning. He played FS. Urlacher ripped into Manning on the sideline following that TD. I think Simms pointed out Manning and called him Harris on that play, if memory serves.
  22. After looking at their offense they're better than I expected. What to make of that bullpen though?
  23. No, he's in the Super Bowl thread. There aren't separate threads for Bears fans and Colts fans. This is a Cubs board, not a Bears board. Semantics aside, there's a roughly 4 trillion to 1 Bear fan to Colt fan ratio. It's not like it was the Cowboys and the Steelers in the Superbowl who have 3 fans apiece here.
  24. You'd think the Bears just lost the Super Bowl or something. The uncalled for sarcasm aside, being a fan doesn't give you the right to flat out make ridiculous excuses and badmouth the other team. The AFC has been dominant all season and I don't know why many of you are so surprised. Nothing happened in this game that hasn't happened all year long, for either team. Edit: What is your deal anyway TT? I can count on one hand the seconds it takes you to reply with condescension to whatever it is I may post. Is this all about sabrmetrics? *hug* You're in the Bears game thread. Like any Cubs game thread, there's less of a rationality threshold that's maintained because of the immediate reactions to everything that happens. Add in that it was the championship game that the Bears just lost and it's hardly cause for getting upset. And I'm not even a Bears fan. And honestly I don't remember any particular posts of yours, aside from a recent one where you pointed out that apparently you and I disagree on a lot of stuff. Sorry if you think I'm stalking you.
