  1. It wasn't in the first round, so Thomas has a shot.
  2. FWIW, he was significantly better each of his first two years. 2005: .366/.470/.581/1.051 2006: .355/.480/.606/1.086 He's now up to .336/.467/.588/1.055 He also now has 31BB/21K. I think he was at 20/20 at one point, so he's starting to get hot. Callis said we'd take Wieters in a chat he did today.
  3. I take responsibility for this, as every pitcher on my fantasy team has taken it upon them to try for an ERA higher than their jersey number this week. My bad.
  4. He finally came out of the closet. He's a Met fan.
  5. brb going to orioles hangout
  6. This game reinforces just how much I loathe the Italians. Hopefully Gattuso gets cleated in the teeth soon.
  7. How is it not fair? The Bulls wouldn't have had the cap space to sign Wallace if they hadn't traded Curry, and Thomas and this year's lottery pick were part of the package. Isiah Thomas got fleeced, which should come as a surprise to no one. I was mainly referring to the Curry's points/rebs v. Wallace+Thomas points/rebs. I'm not trying to say that the trade was anything but a fleecing.
  8. Only the Pirates could get 16 baserunners in a game and only score 2 runs.
  9. I find this hilarious. Would you rather have Tyrus' and Wallace's combined 11.5/14.5 or Curry's 19 and 7? Not to mention the blocks, steals, and intangibles that Ben and TT bring to the table. We have enough scoring from Loul/BG/Kirk. I am pretty comfortable in saying that we would be a worse team if we had stuck with Eddy. That's not really a fair comparison. Curry plays 35 minutes a game and Wallace/Thomas combine for 48 minutes(35/13). There's a significant contractural difference as well.
  10. Actually, I think you need to wait until after the makeup in July.
  11. This is one situation where the old adage "stats don't show you everything" is actually true. Lee has only 2 walks but clearly has shown patience at the plate and a willingness to work the count and wait for his pitch. It just happens he's getting "his pitch" more often than not (hence his .424 batting average). Murton on the other hand is swinging at the first pitch more often than not. He's beating the ball into the ground (.267 SLG? You kidding?). He's not waiting for his pitch at all like we know he's capable of doing. Chalk that up to feeling pressure from Floyd's PT if you want, but he's not the Murton of 05 or 06 right now. To reiterate... Murton's current line: .267/.313/.267/.580 Murton's line if he hits a double in his next AB: .313/.353/.400/.753
  12. Because you can't assume the same result if that runner isn't on first. Maybe going from the windup causes Pitcher to overthrow a sinker that gets crushed for a HR, or maybe pitching from the windup allows him to strike out the side. We don't know, we just have to go by what actually happened. It may be unfair to Pitcher B, but by the same token it's not really fair to charge it to Pitcher A if Pitcher B can't get 3 outs without a runner on first coming around to score.
  13. Yay Huston Street gets a win
  14. It makes me sad the Cavs don't even have a pick in the draft at all.
  15. Well done, Jinxy McJinxerson
  16. That's not true. Guzman was very good last year at Iowa for 15 starts. I'm not that impressed with an ERA over 4 in AAA. Decent, sure. Very good? Hardly. Don't really care about ERA compared to a 1.27 WHIP, 9.16 K/9, 2.85 BB/9, 3.21 K/BB and 0.59 HR/9. That's very good.
  17. That's not true. Guzman was very good last year at Iowa for 15 starts.
  18. Current lines Floyd: .313/.353/.438/.791 Murton: .267/.313/.267/.580 Murton's line if he hits a double in his first AB tomorrow: .313/.353/.400/.753 Floyd's line if he goes 0 for 4 in his next start: .250/.286/.350/.636 Let's have this conversation about who's producing and who's struggling when they've actually gotten a chance to play.
  19. Anyone extracting a serious argument from what's said in the game thread probably shouldn't stay in the game thread. Marquis was really bad in the first. After that he stopped giving up runs, but he walked a guy an inning for the remainder of his start. He had a bad outing. I left after Guzman's first inning and didn't even "see" that, so can someone tell me how his stuff was, the type of contact he was giving up, etc?
  20. i can at least revel in the idea that God exists. without God, there couldn't be curses, right? So does that make this a plague?
