  1. Thanks for the thought out response. On the first deal, I'm basically banking on it being somebody who overvalues Teahen(he's either a Royals or Cardinals fan, like everyone in the league except me) and/or having an irrational hatred of Dunn. I'm also hoping for more of a reputation view of Freel/Peralta, remembering Freel's steals and versatility, and remembering Peralta's crappy 2006(fortunately he doesn't have Peralta starting). On the second deal, I've been after Glaus for quite a while because he can add power at SS. My team is littered with guys who are either a plus in AVG or at least won't hurt me(Dunn would be one if I got him), so I think I can afford to give away some AVG to get the extra HR that Glaus will provide. That said, I certainly don't mind going after Manny, but if the Dunn deal goes through then I'd be benching one of Hawpe/Ordonez while having Peralta/Tulowitzki at SS. Not quite the net gain I'd hope for. Maybe if the Dunn deal doesn't happen I'll try a larger deal for Glaus+Manny, I know for sure that guy is a huge Teahen fan.
  2. Pie K's against LHP Mark McLemore, who was apparently reincarnated as a white pitcher.
  3. He strikes out the first batter in the 6th and gets pulled. Same line as above except 10 K's and 80 pitches. EDIT: And obviously, 5.1 IP
  4. Marmol is dealing. 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 9/0 K/BB, 76 pitches
  5. That's 7 walks in 9 games for Pie.
  6. I'm debating a series of moves in my 12 team, standard categories(AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB) league I have: C Barrett 1B Helton 2B Kendrick SS Tejada 3B Chipper OF Sizemore OF Magglio Ordonez OF Hawpe UT Cuddyer BN Teahen BN Tulowitzki BN Freel BN Iannetta I'm considering offering Teahen and Freel for Dunn and Jhonny Peralta(pretty much a straight swap of positions, hoping for a difference in how we value those guys), and then(if accepted) offering Tejada and Hawpe/Magglio for Manny and adding Upton. Any thoughts? I could also target Glaus instead of Manny in the second trade, as the player has Glaus, Atkins, and Crede but only K. Greene at SS. Actually, Glaus makes more sense as a target so he can play SS and Dunn gets into the lineup. So anyway, I proposed the first trade, comments would be appreciated.
  7. Wuertz is the best reliever on the team. He should be used as such.
  8. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? Game thread. Only pro-Murton comments are allowed then? Gotcha. No, it means don't take anything said seriously.
  9. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? Game thread.
  10. Shouldn't we have Murton running for Floyd? I thought the same thing when he was on second, but now I don't see too much of a point, except for defense.
  11. I say go for it. Booing players for poor performance is dumb because the home stadium is supposed to be a positive environment. No need for such precautions with umpires. Plus, makeup calls are a very real thing.
  12. Strawman. Can you refute any of the points that were made?
  13. Somebody tell me about Pina. How's his stuff, and how does it compare to his Peoria comrades Ceda and Dolis?
  14. His performance tonight may single handedly keep me from winning 3 categories this week. Screw you Carlos.
  15. I'm more for a collective boo against the whole team, because of the ways they've lost ball games these last four days. Maybe it will wake them up. If we cheer for them, wont they think its okay for them to suck? So, the booing reminds them that what they're doing was wrong? Does Soriano actually think getting picked off is okay unless the enlightened masses shower him with boos? Unless it's a Hundley situation or a clear lack of effort(like not running out a popup at all and the guy drops it and throws him out), booing serves no good, it's just a selfish outlet for the fan to try to make himself feel better.
  16. It's only the 6th inning of a 1 run game. Murton can pinch hit for the pitcher's spot and take Floyd out defensively.
  17. Wait a second, we didn't start Matt Murton and his 3 HR in 15 ABs against Harang? Argh.
  18. Where Wuertz is, I follow. You got to be pretty quick to beat me to the "Wuertz for ruler of the universe".
  19. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT MICHAEL WUERTZ WUERTZ 4 SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE UNIVERSE
  20. We're going to go through the Old Timer McGee threw 400 innings a season argument again, I guess? Players in previous eras had much less talented hitters, and required less effort to make it through the non-dangerous portions of the lineup. They also in some instances had a higher mound, played a talent pool that didn't have blacks and/or foreign players. It's a poor, poor comparison.
