  1. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? Game thread. Only pro-Murton comments are allowed then? Gotcha. No, it means don't take anything said seriously.
  2. Does the sample size argument only work when it is directed toward Floyd? Game thread.
  3. Shouldn't we have Murton running for Floyd? I thought the same thing when he was on second, but now I don't see too much of a point, except for defense.
  4. I say go for it. Booing players for poor performance is dumb because the home stadium is supposed to be a positive environment. No need for such precautions with umpires. Plus, makeup calls are a very real thing.
  5. Strawman. Can you refute any of the points that were made?
  6. Somebody tell me about Pina. How's his stuff, and how does it compare to his Peoria comrades Ceda and Dolis?
  7. His performance tonight may single handedly keep me from winning 3 categories this week. Screw you Carlos.
  8. I'm more for a collective boo against the whole team, because of the ways they've lost ball games these last four days. Maybe it will wake them up. If we cheer for them, wont they think its okay for them to suck? So, the booing reminds them that what they're doing was wrong? Does Soriano actually think getting picked off is okay unless the enlightened masses shower him with boos? Unless it's a Hundley situation or a clear lack of effort(like not running out a popup at all and the guy drops it and throws him out), booing serves no good, it's just a selfish outlet for the fan to try to make himself feel better.
  9. It's only the 6th inning of a 1 run game. Murton can pinch hit for the pitcher's spot and take Floyd out defensively.
  10. Wait a second, we didn't start Matt Murton and his 3 HR in 15 ABs against Harang? Argh.
  11. Where Wuertz is, I follow. You got to be pretty quick to beat me to the "Wuertz for ruler of the universe".
  12. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT MICHAEL WUERTZ WUERTZ 4 SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE UNIVERSE
  13. We're going to go through the Old Timer McGee threw 400 innings a season argument again, I guess? Players in previous eras had much less talented hitters, and required less effort to make it through the non-dangerous portions of the lineup. They also in some instances had a higher mound, played a talent pool that didn't have blacks and/or foreign players. It's a poor, poor comparison.
  14. Pie and Patterson were both 1 for 3 with singles before the game was suspended.
  15. PMR puts Anderson near the middle of the pack, although it later puts him in the top 5 in getting outs.
  16. haha June 22: Tony La Russa passes out during the eighth inning of a tight game against the Phillies, thereby allowing his left-handed reliever to stay in the game and pitch to two right-handed batters. Upon learning what he allowed to happen upon waking up, La Russa vows to never drink again.
  17. I've said that he was ready prior to this season, I'm going to stick with that.
  18. It wasn't in the first round, so Thomas has a shot.
  19. FWIW, he was significantly better each of his first two years. 2005: .366/.470/.581/1.051 2006: .355/.480/.606/1.086 He's now up to .336/.467/.588/1.055 He also now has 31BB/21K. I think he was at 20/20 at one point, so he's starting to get hot. Callis said we'd take Wieters in a chat he did today.
  20. I take responsibility for this, as every pitcher on my fantasy team has taken it upon them to try for an ERA higher than their jersey number this week. My bad.
