  1. Yale's catcher put up a 1.300+ OPS this year, Lavarnway is his name, he's only a sophomore.
  2. Yeah, I would hope the likes of Thomas, Barney, Wright, Hardman, and Smith would be able to handle Peoria. Skipping Boise? I figured most college guys started in short season, while high school and foreign kids went to Mesa. Only the best college guys start in A ball, no? Ack, you're right, I was forgetting there were 2 short season leagues. In that case I'd hope Thomas, one of the OFs, and maybe Smith might be able to tackle Peoria.
  3. Yeah, I would hope the likes of Thomas, Barney, Wright, Hardman, and Smith would be able to handle Peoria. That's a lot of new guys for not a lot of roster space though, even with the crummy position players in Peoria.
  4. What transition? Vitters was the primary topic from the start, no? Nathan was talking about Vitters making it to Peoria if Lansford was worthy of a July promotion. That's who I thought you were talking about with the "hopefully he hits well enough to justify the move". To conclude, I am awful at reading comprehension.
  5. I missed the transition from Lansford to Vitters, I thought Goony was still talking about Carney Jr. My bad.
  6. Is this a joke? Another player from a poor conference with abysmal numbers. 22/19 K/BB, .295 BAA in 36 IP(yep, another reliever)
  7. Felix Pie? Oh he's a big fella, runs about 6-7, 385
  8. Uh, Leon Johnson was awful offensively in a poor baseball conference. Sub .700 OPS
  9. Really???? I don't see why. He should be ready for Boise this season and peoria next. We'll see. He'll be ready for Peoria even if he spends all of this summer at Mesa. I bet if he signs quickly, and Lansford gets a July promotion that Vitters finishs the 2007 season in Peoria....just a thought... If he's hitting well enough to justify that move, it would be great. But I'm just hoping he hits well enough to justify a spot in Peoria all next year. I don't want to see any Ryan Harvey type, low average, 4:1 K:BB ratio with OPS being propped up by some power, and doing it in short season ball a year after being drafted. I dont think his hitting will be a problem, if you should be worried about anything it should be his defense. I am also anxious to see what Tony Thomas will do in Boise! Are you talking about Lansford? He's been awful with the bat and he's supposed to be an excellent defender.
  10. I wonder how much Peoria's brutal offense this year has contributed to all the college hitters.
  11. He had a very bad outing against Missouri in their regional. He has been hurt almost all year as well. Yeah, I watched that game and he didn't look very good at all. No control, then he got rocked when the order came back around in the 6th.
  12. Lambert is a college reliever, he was quite good for UVA this year. Smith is a college 3B(?), who also was quite good for Clemson this year. Both guys were in the ACC.
  13. Wright looks like another low ceiling college guy. Very poor IsoD and IsoP.
  14. No real substance to it, it's another one of those articles about trades that "should be made".
  15. I'm pretty positive that it was Gilkey. I remember the RFer diving even though he came up like 5 feet short of the ball too. Who was in right that day? I don't remember it being Sammy. Sammy was in RF, Scott Bullett in CF, and Luis Gonzalez in LF. You were right that it was Gilkey. Link
  16. I'm excited to watch the LeBrons. Hopefully Bowen isn't as dirty as he normally is.
  17. Guyer seems like a poor man's Jeff Francoeur, with more walks and less power. Sounds like another guy who's future lies as a bench player.
  18. Best name ever, by the way. Rusty Kuntz would like to have a word with you. As would Stubby Clapp.
  19. He's 9 for 22 since he got recalled, that's why people think he's done a good job.
  20. Argh, lazy fly ball drifts out in the shallowest part of the park.
