  1. Probably not, since most foreign leagues will be in full swing during that time frame. That's why the World Cup, Gold Cup, Euro '08, etc. are all in the summer. I was more referring to any cups next summer or any meaningful qualifying games before world cup qualifying starts in a year. one calendar year of friendlies seems pointless, space out the world cup and gold cup a bit more. Well, we've got the Confederations Cup in '09, but I think it'd be hard to have a real competitive tournament in '08. We'd only be a year removed from having the Gold Cup and Copa America against the entire western hemisphere, and Euro '08 knocks out most everyone else save the likes of Australia, Korea, or Japan.
  2. That was a fielding error. Bouncing ball towards the line that he duffed an attempt at a backhand on. Ah. Yahoo's gamecenter said it was a throwing error. That's what I figured. I needed to take advantage of the opportunity to make listening to Hrabosky worthwhile though.

  4. Up to the minute season line for Hernandez: 65 IP, 4.29 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 5.68 K/9, 2.91 BB/9, 1.95 K/BB, 0.83 HR/9
  5. That's all I'm implying as well... If the game is on the line, then bring him in..not w/ a 5 run lead. Just my opinion. You have to keep him sharp too. The guy's faced 2 hitters in 7 days, going an inning isn't overusing him in the slightest. Wuertz has thrown 3 straight days, and Ohman has thrown 3 of the last 4.
  6. The good thing is that we have 3(4 if you count that Wuertz who seems to have his good slider back) other RH relievers to use, so the temptation to pull a Chad Fox won't be nearly as strong for Lou.
  7. This is only his 3rd outing in a week, and both those other outings he faced a combined 2 hitters.
  8. Hernandez gave up 2 runs in the 5th, but he still had a strong outing. 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 6/1 K/BB Only 2 hits for Peoria so they trail 2-0. Veal having some control issues but not getting burned thus far. 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5/3 K/BB
  9. Yessir. Cards have 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 4th. My HS Baseball coach called that a BIF(Big Inning Formula). Reyes will try to lay one down.
  10. Branyan is Three True Outcomes to the extreme. 76 of his 146 PA's this year were BB, K, or HR. .192 BA and still a .748 OPS.
  11. Yes, and after they get sent down they receive a higher minor league salary, if I'm not mistaken.

  13. Good. Murton is worth more than Ty, much more. Why would Tampa want Dan Wheeler? Are they in the playoff chase? The opposite is true too. Why does Houston want Wigginton?
  14. Yeah, he'd need the ability to convince umpires our pitchers only get 2 outs instead of three to be a worthwhile acquisition.
  15. It's pretty telling that "playing three games in a row" is grounds for a day off for Floyd.
  16. so you'd put the tying run on with a walk up by two? Didn't Pujols drive in the winning run (Rolen--who was on second)? The only runner that mattered was Rolen.. No, Pujols drove in the first run, and scored the tying run on Rolen's double. Rolen's run won the game on Ludwick's single.
  17. Yeah but this guy hits for average as well. A little better than Dunn, but if his BABIP stabilizes he's only at about .275.
  18. I think Braun is destined to become the Adam Dunn of the infield. He's on pace to commit about 40 errors over a full season.
  19. That's also a textbook example of what Jones should've been doing. You know, being in the baseline and not in the 4th row, sliding instead of trucking into the guy catching a throw at his head, etc.
  20. I got a hold of Wolf at GRB and he says he's in. I'll get him access to this forum and we'll be set.
  21. Better yet, we could just tell Marquis we'll cut him if he doesn't give it up. Or even better, we could just cut him anyway. Why? Marquis eats six innings for lunch every five days. He's no Mad Dog but he gets it done for the most part. Eating six innings for lunch doesn't mean much when he craps out 5 runs in the process.
  22. haha, Harris just took off while Valverde was on the mound and got gunned down, he's no Escobar
  23. Anyone else see Yunel Escobar just take second after his at bat? Valverde was stretching just off the mound, the middle infielders were nowhere near the bag and Clark at 1B wasn't paying attention and he just took off and made it without a throw. And now Harris singles him in to tie the game and blow the save for Valverde.
