  1. How in the world did Molina hit that?
  2. Sean strikes out the side on 13 pitches in the 5th. He's rolling. 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 7/0 K/BB, 70 pitches And that's the final line for Gallagher, Cotts replaces him on the mound in the 6th.
  3. Wow. I didn't notice that. To me, that makes it much more realistic that Hendry can add Griffey to this team. Also, isn't Prior arby-eligible? Ack, forgot about Prior. He's not going to be getting any type of raise though, and in the off chance he does it's not going to be much at all, < 1 mil.
  4. A little less conventional 1-2-3 for Gallagher in the 4th. Simokaitis committed an error to let the first man reach, then both were retired on an unconventional double play that I can't figure out. 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4/0 K/BB, 57 pitches Iowa leads 3-0 after an error on a sac bunt scores two runners.
  5. Linebrink showing off why he was worth that prospect haul. WP moves runners to 2nd and 3rd, so now they're walking Pujols. 1 out and Duncan coming up with the bases loaded.
  6. 1-2-3 third for Gallagher, 2 groundouts and a fly to Pie. 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4/0 K/BB, 50 pitches Offensively, Pie, Patterson, and Soto are all 0-2.
  7. Zambrano signing an extension worth 17 million annually adds less than 5 million to the payroll. He's already making 12+ this year. Put another way, adding Griffey and extending Zambrano adds only 7 million to the payroll if coupled with Jones and Eyre not being on the club next year. Also of note, the Cubs aren't facing any jumps in arbitration this year. Their only eligibles right now are Ohman, Wuertz, and Cotts.
  8. Different inning, same story. 2 K's and a 2 out hit(this time a single) 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4/0 K/BB, 41 pitches for Gallagher
  9. Gallagher scatters a 2 out double amongst 2 K's in the first inning. A not-so-efficient 21 pitches thru 1.
  10. Ball gets away from Estrada, 5-3 runner on 3rd and one out for Ludwick and Pujols.
  11. We just won 6-0. We have been playing great baseball without Murton. Who cares about Murton at this point? Namely because the people getting playing time instead of him(Floyd and Fontenot) are not hitting at all.
  12. It may not be related, but Junior's first injury-free season(thus far) of the millennium has coincided with him playing RF instead of CF everyday.
  13. I've argued the same thing in the past. Seems to me, you get a lot more chances to throw LF to home/2nd than you do RF to home/3rd/2nd. Cause and effect though. Is that because there are more opportunities, or are there more opportunities because the weaker arm is traditionally in LF and the stronger in RF?
  14. It's your only job on that play to get out there, West. What a tool.
  15. Carlos with under 20 pitches in the first inning. Time to throw him a parade to celebrate.
  16. wtg McKanin you goof, try to sac bunt in the first inning with a 2 run deficit
  17. He just screen caps ESPN.com's matchup page ;) It's probably the most organized one. Yahoo only has stats since 1987... so it might leave out veteran match-ups. But I might just switch to Baseball Reference... IMHO the most trusted baseball stats site. I can't think of too many hitters and pitchers who have been around since 1986, you're probably safe using Yahoo if you wanted to.
  18. I wish the Ryan Church rumors would come back.
  19. Why's that? Those are some pretty impressive packages for Teixeira, and odds are pretty stacked against them keeping him long term.
  20. But aren't they way outperforming their pythag Yes, they were 5 games better than expected prior to the nightcap.
  21. The Cardinals are not going to catch anyone with a rotation that's a mix and match of: Wainwright Looper Thompson Wells Reyes Maroth Wellemeyer And the fans in attendance embarrass themselves by doing the wave behind the plate while they get strike 3 on Mench to end the inning. Mench with some magic words for Vanover, I won't be surprised if he's tossed when they come back from commercial.
  22. Encarnacion has like 9 hits today, 5-2 Cards
