  1. A less ideal but probably more practical thought, but hopefully he'd get dealt to somebody like the Dodgers, so there's one less suitor for Z.
  2. All are welcome. Where's that photoshop of Totti going off the diving board? Also, I probably hate Gattuso more than any other player in the world.
  3. Okay, I quit now too.
  4. I refuse to admit Italy won the World Cup. They lost against Australia as far as I'm concerned.
  5. He's implying that you are a human being. As such, it's impossible to properly weigh what we see accurately like you are claiming. And to clarify Brinoch's point since he didn't want to expend the energy: Theriot has tried to steal 23 times this year, Reyes has tried to steal 64 times this year. If Theriot attempted that many steals, don't you think more attention would be paid to him, no matter what the "attention level" he is already getting is?
  6. RBI opportunities are rare for Theriot seeing as he mostly just has Sori if he gets on base without hitting a big fly. Even at the top of the order he has plenty of at bats with people on base, even if they are not in scoring position. A stolen base can't score a runner from first like a double can. This is true but I think the point is being missed that for someone who like Theriot has a job description of getting into scoring position for the big guys... his sb's present value. Because they come when he is looking to get into scoring position not when he is trying to drive in runs. Probably a point of semantics though. When you're evaluating him as a whole though you can't say they're equivalent, no matter how often he gets on base for hitters, or comes up with no one on base. There's a major difference between getting a hit/walking and stealing second, and hitting a double. Of course, instead of worrying about adjusting OBP and SLG for it, why not just use RC or EqA? Also, the Eckstein Treatment doesn't have a positive connotation attached to it.

  8. So, two weeks from today, Wednesday night the 15th. Anyone not able to do that? I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to, but I'll be back at school and not 100% sure what my work schedule will be like(not that I couldn't do it at work anyway).
  9. Alright, now that we're set with owners and keepers, let's talk the draft. Unless everyone can commit to being around enough to do about a round every other day, we'll probably need(or want) to do it live. Any large blocks of time people are going to be unavailable for?
  10. Yes sir. 1. Wolf 2. Burnt 3. Tobias 4. ChiCubs 5. IMB! 6. Raw 7. Outshined 8. Vance 9. Roast 10. TT
  11. What happened to Linebrink? Is he that broken up about leaving the San Diego weather? And if Parra pitches three innings who goes to the rotation?
  12. Brewers recalled Elmer Dessens, so they got a fresh arm. But then they're pitching Elmer Dessens in a Major League baseball game, so it's a win-win.
  13. Is Alberto Cabrera hurt? He hasn't pitched since the 23rd.
  14. Ouch Someone forget to tell them Izturis is a Free Agent?
  15. Why does it matter how they made out in a trade with each other? Daniels got some value for assets he wasn't going to be able to keep. Williams did not. Advantage Daniels.
  16. Boise getting reamed after surrendering 9 runs(2 earned) in the 2nd. Kyler Burke stays hot with a HR in his only at bat thus far.
  17. If Alou rolls into a double play, I'm hiring someone to kneecap him.
  18. It must have to do with the game being on "The U" in Chicago. Never seen a game from Ch. 26 on EI. And EI never seems to have the PHI feed of games, so between the two, I guess they shouldn't show it. We get the Comcast CHI feed tomorrow night. EI always does the home team's feed, so that's why you don't see the Philly guys in this instance.
  19. I don't think you're understanding what a double cut is. Tell me, what is a double cut? A double cut is when both middle infielders go out and one of them receives the throw. For the play in question, DeRosa and Theriot both got into position to receive a throw from Murton, with some space between them. There's been a good deal of debate on the exact purpose in the thread, but the point is that one of them receives the throw from Murton. A double cut means Murton to DeRosa or Theriot to the plate, not Murton to DeRosa to Theriot to the plate.
  20. So you're basing your throwing decision on the worst case scenario, that being a terrible throw that the 2nd cut can't even knock down. Makes sense to do that for little league and even some high schoolers(though by the time I learned double cut we were using it in the way I presented), but for a major leaguer that's wasteful to throw to the short guy just because you might make a bad throw and now you can save a runner from moving up one base max. Just the opposite--if you miss the first guy, there is a back-up. If you miss the second guy, problems. I don't know how old you are or if you've ever played ball at an advanced level. However, reading your posts makes me think you haven't. Once you get past little league there is no 2nd cut off. If you need two cuts to get a guy out at home you aren't getting him out unless he's tryng for an inside the park HR or very, very slow. It is asinine. I could be wrong but it looked to me like Murton picked Theriot up at the edge of the infield like an outfielder is taught to do when throwing to home, and fired. Theriot might have been backing up Derosa who was way out of positon, I don't know. Had Murton thrown to him instead of Theriot a run would have scored. Good play by Murton and Theriot. I don't think you're understanding what a double cut is.
  21. so he is average, how is that a hole. Where do you get those stats? You can get OPS from anywhere, ESPN, Yahoo, etc. RC I got from hardballtimes.com
