  1. Attention Jon Miller: The Wrigley faithful are giving a standing ovation to Kerry Wood, not Tom Glavine.
  2. Oh geez, is it 1998 again? How is that a strike?
  3. Taken Players - Alphabetical by Last Name (I'll try to update this and re-post it with some frequency as we go) QB Tom Brady Drew Brees Marc Bulger Matt Hasselbeck Peyton Manning Carson Palmer RB Joseph Addai Shaun Alexander Reggie Bush Frank Gore Steven Jackson Edgerrin James Larry Johnson Rudi Johnson Maurice Jones-Drew Willis McGahee Lawrence Moroney Willie Parker LaDainian Tomlinson Brian Westbrook WR Anquan Boldin Donald Driver Larry Fitzgerald Torry Holt Chad Johnson Randy Moss Steve Smith Roy Williams TE Antonio Gates Jeremy Shockey
  4. Draft Order 1. Wolf 2. IMB! 3. Tobias 4. ChiCubs 5. Burnt 6. Raw 7. Outshined 8. Vance 9. Roast 10. TT Wolf is on the clock to start. I'll add a list of taken/kept players shortly.
  5. His BABIP is about 80 points higher than it should be. His line against RHP is .293/.325/.484/.809
  6. He's famous for having some of the quickest wrists in the history of the game. I think he would have been fine. He could have pneumatic-powered wrists, but if he wasn't more direct to the ball there's no way he's catching up to the fastballs of this era. He faced Koufax, Fergie Jenkins, Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, etc. You act like he was facing highschoolers. This was only 40 years ago. It's the depth of the pitching. 40 years is quite a long time. I'm sure they didn't have starters like Glendon Rusch and Kip Wells back when Aaron played. While the elite players may be better now than they were back then, there were also fewer players. The talent pool is much more diluted now than it used to be with so many teams. From Aaron's time? There's been 4 new franchises since his career ended, the influx of foreign born players makes up for that and then some.
  7. I say just start it now, we're gonna need to move pretty quick anyways. O_O and Burnt might need to send lists to people.
  8. Again, it hasn't been good-bad-good-bad. He started hot and then has nosedived. If you take a look at his game log, you'll see that that's simply not true. In fact, 3 out of his last 6 starts have been quality ones. Well yeah, you can't be Zambrano and get consistently better or worse every start for several months. Look at the graphs above, there's a very clear trend.

  12. 2 high draft picks and the money to throw at, say, A-Rod would be far from the end of the world.
  13. If you watch clips of Aaron, his swing is loooong. Sure he might've been able to shorten up and still hit a ton of home runs in this era, but I think that's far from assumed.
  14. There's two sides to every split like that. LH have hit Glavine well, but would our LH? Murton destroys LHP and should be playing everyday anyway, and Fontenot and Jones have been truly awful against LHP(while DeRosa traditionally mashes them).
  15. WindyCityRoundball.com is available
  16. Yeah, it's not like Marquis has been on and off all year, it's been a pretty steady trend downward. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/105_P_daily_full_0_20070803.png http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/105_P_daily_full_6_20070803.png http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/105_P_daily_full_5_20070803.png http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/105_P_daily_full_4_20070803.png
  17. Let's keep things about the topic at hand, and not the people making the arguments. Thanks.
  18. If we had someone who could install this, then we'd all be able to get Stat Tracker for free. Doubt it'd happen, but it's worth a look. http://statfink.sourceforge.net/
  19. Hes hitting 8th?why? "We just lost three games with the pitcher batting ninth. ... I think it's a good strategy to use. It's not like we're burning up the league offensively"
  20. Joel Piniero makes his Cardinal debut tonight. He's hitting 8th. Pujols is also out of the lineup.
  21. What'd he say? paraphrased "oh I was safe. I'm sure there's been plenty of times when I've been called out when I was actually safe"
  22. w/ RISP Sosa: 43 BB in 183 PA's Olerud: 46 BB in 176 PA's
  23. From 2nd? No way. He was pretty far up the line when Sele caught it since Wright was nowhere near the base. I can't really blame Jacque for not taking the chance considering we're up 4 and Soriano is on deck, but he would've made it.
