  1. Didn't we learn from 2006 that getting replacement level pitching isn't quite as easy as it sounds? Even then, we've had amazing luck with the health of our pitchers, and trading away an arm that's as resilient as Hill invites even more injury risk to the staff going forward.
  2. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for trading me Carson Palmer.
  3. Tejada frightens me, he's not trending in the right direction.
  4. The only thing I said about predicting the outcome is that Mizzou was going to score a bunch of points. And even then, you're confusing people and for some reason taking it out on Mizzou/the Mizzou fans here. It wasn't even a Mizzou/B12 guy who said something about Mizzou being a surprise team this year that could win the B12(Dew, I think), and I was the first person to point out that our defense isn't good enough to do that. In the same way, it's not the Mizzou/B12 guys who are trying to keep U of I down by saying Syracuse sucks, etc.(yet there has been the opposite being said by U of I folk).
  5. I want to see Grooms handing the ball off to Washington by game's end.
  6. They've got as good a case as anybody. 2 power conference teams away from home and one of the best MAC programs is a decent non-con slate, especially when the biggest obstacle to scoring thus far has been changing play calling to try to kill clock because they're up by 25 points. Illinois was hardly away from home. It was like a bowl game, the crowd was split down the middle, and the location was pretty equidistant from the two schools. Definitely not the same as a home game, and they went on the road to an SEC school the next week.

  8. Matchup of the week is me and Raw. Only matchup of 1-0 teams and the champions of the league the two years we've done it. MoJo Drew has sucked it up again, but a big day from Palmer, TJH, and Braylon Edwards has me optimistic. Anyone have stat tracker?
  9. Nebraska is going to lose by 30.
  10. Kentucky up 10-0 on Louisville after a pair of Louisville turnovers, fumbling the opening kickoff and a Brohm pick.
  11. Do we put out a suicide watch for Bob Sanders and HawkeyeCub? Mizzou pulled their traditional "get a 4 score lead and let it get back to 2 before finishing things off" trick. 52-24 for the first home game of the year. Illinois State next week then a bye week before Nebraska.
  12. I thought OSU might surprise with their returning offensive weapons, wow. Getting beat Between the Hedges is one thing, getting punked by Troy is quite another.
  13. Mizzou's good enough to take the North, especially with Nebraska coming at home, but if we manage to do that we are going to get reamed something fierce by Texas or OU. We won't be able to stop offenses of that caliber unless something changes. Nitpick alert- Chase Daniel, no s on the last name
  14. Watching Fetters pitch is about a 9 on the unintentional comedy scale.
  15. Beaten by a bit in Baseball Discussions. Premium Regular
  16. And the biggest reason ESPN puts Holtz on there is to laugh at him, similar to Corso on Gameday. Really? That's either the most brilliant satire ESPN has done since Cheap Seats, or they're actually treating him as a legitimate analyst.
  17. How in the great blue sea does Kip Wells give up SIXTEEN baserunners in less than 5 innings and only give up 5 runs?
  18. Both these deserve more recognition. Outstanding.
  19. That must be really rough for you.
  20. Hardball Times had an interesting tidbit the other day about Andruw, something about his batted ball types being in decline for about 4 years I think. Not good news for him rebounding they were saying. If it were me, I'd find the cheapest price(in players) for some of the potential RF targets without adding too much salary(I think Raw discussed them in the offseason thread in transactions), and let Pie, Theriot, and Soto play. It's not ideal to have DeRosa 6th instead of 2nd, but I think it works better than hitting Pie/Soto/Theriot back-to-back-to-back. Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez RF Target DeRosa Pie/Soto Soto/Pie
  21. The USA Women kicked off the World Cup that they are favored to win by tying North Korea 2-2, needing an equalizer to get any points. Not a strong start.
