  1. Woo, Daniel got a vote! Dixon for me.
  2. SEC is still much stronger. Thanks though. Stronger, but not to the extent you're making it out to be, and not because of the terrible reasoning there.
  3. No fair, you stole my comparison before I had a chance to use it. Infante could be a worthwhile gamble, but does anyone else think his value isn't quite at what Jones' is?
  4. If Kansas wins out, then there's no way both OU and LSU can go. One of them must be knocked out to a lesser BCS game because Kansas is a big conference undefeated team. If it plays out that way, of course. Big if. Kansas is barely in the top 5 in the bcs rankings. Even if they win out, voters will still discount them Again, KU winning out requires them beating two top 5 teams. I would bet just about anything that they don't win out, but if they did there's no way they would be kept out of the title game.
  5. I can't believe there's only 5 minutes left in this game, the second half has flown by.
  6. Beating Mizzou and OU in back-to-back weeks would be enough to propel them in there. Illinois winning this game would be all kinds of awesome, probably bigger than Gabbert committing today.
  7. Mizzou with it's closest win since Illinois against aTm. They were about 10 yards from surrendering the lead in the 4th before the defense held, aTm missed a field goal, and then Mizzou ran away with a TD and a safety. 40-26 the final.
  8. Stellar. Hopefully Blackout goes as well as Gold Rush does.
  9. He's got 2 straight years of being outstanding at home and abominable on the road. As a GB guy the playing field makes a difference, and for his career he's got an OPS against over .110 points higher on grass than turf to go with a worse HR rate.
  10. That was my first thought too.
  11. Not sure how a 3 way deal could be worked where the Marlins lose Cabrera and the biggest prize prospect of the other two teams in the deal goes to the Cubs rather than the Marlins. Highly unlikely. Why? The Marlins want quantities of young players they can afford. Would they take Pie, Marshall, Brian Wilson, Nick Pereira and Gallagher/Veal/Samardzija for Cabrera? The Giants give up Lincecum, Wilson, and Pereira for Cabrera, and we give up Pie, Marshall, and Gallagher/Veal/Samardzija for Lincecum.
  12. No is the answer you're looking for. And honestly, I wouldn't do that previous deal for Santana, and I wouldn't sign him to the extension he wanted. If he was the same age as someone like Z or Beltran when he hit free agency, most definitely. But there's a large difference between having someone for their 27-30 years and their 34-37 years, which is essentially the difference when comparing potential long term contracts.
  13. yeah, i wonder who we have to thank for that. You'd rather not have Lee, Ramirez, or Zambrano? It's not like we have 3 or 4 albatrosses in the way of getting a player like A-Rod. The 4th is probably Lilly and he was worth his contract last year too. Soriano's name is conspicuous in it's absence. Oh like you expected me to get it right the first time anyway. I hatehatehate the Soriano contract, but the money was going to get spent on something, and Hendry's point about not getting A-Rod because of financial commitments holds true even if he had gotten Drew instead of Soriano.
  14. yeah, i wonder who we have to thank for that. You'd rather not have Lee, Ramirez, or Zambrano? It's not like we have 3 or 4 albatrosses in the way of getting a player like A-Rod. The 4th is probably Lilly and he was worth his contract last year too.
  15. Bringing back this thread for an idea. What if we inserted ourselves in a deal to send Cabrera to the Giants, with us netting Lincecum? If we were to get Kaz and Kosuke I think that'd make for a nice offseason.
  16. Matsui's better against RHP than his career numbers indicate. 2004: .262/.319/.373/.692 2005: .246/.295/.362/.657 2006: .299/.329/.428/.757 2007: .291/.348/.409/.757 FWIW, he hit .265/.315/.354 away from Coors against RHP, but at the same time that includes a disproportionate amount of games in the pitcher's parks of the NL West(Petco, Dodger Stadium, Phone company of the week park).
  17. To get back Garza I would think that the Cardinals would need to pay for all of Rolen's contract and all of Santana's future contract. Rolen's done, and he doesn't even have some lingering good performance from last year to keep his trade value up. It'd be a salary dump if they got rid of him.
  18. Still recovering from '05. Not too surprising, I think he got hacked too during that comeback.
  19. Ohio State lost to Findlay, one of the million non-DI schools in Ohio.
  20. Don't say things like that, we play them in basketball in a week.
  21. Soto looks like he hit it high enough to pick off an airplane.
