  1. I have no words. I can't even find a way that this could potentially make sense.
  2. hopefully losing to KU won't put you out of the hunt for a BCS at-large bid. 2007 season fantasies only, plz
  3. Like was mentioned in this week's college football thread, there aren't too many rivalries that go back to the entire states hating each other during the civil war, with the burning of towns and raping and pillaging and such. I'd say that Mizzou-Kansas is close to being the most passionate, although that doesn't necessarily mean best, IMO. As much as it pains me, I voted Michigan-OSU.
  4. Rich Hill through age 27 looks a whole lot like Erik Bedard through age 27.
  5. So was Todd Hollandsworth.
  6. First we pick up Trachsel's option and now this? Curse you, Jim Hendry of Ken Rosenthal's fantasyland.
  7. I'd rather play the semi-talented hacks from Mexico over and over again than the untalented hacks that make up most of the rest of CONCACAF.
  8. right, but then why not prohibit players from drinking alcohol? After all, most people who drink alcohol in their 20s will get drunk, some will get behind the wheel and drive, or get in a fight, or fall and get hurt. Or just get fat. They don't prohibit the players from smoking marijuana, the law does.
  9. If he gets kicked out of baseball and loses millions of dollars in the future because of it, I would say it is a "problem". way to completely miss the point. Given that it's in his contract, he should not have been getting high. But marijuana is not a performance-enhancing drug, nor is it a significantly-addictive drug, so I don't think MLB/MiLB should be testing for it. It's the same reason other employers do drug screening. Accounting firms aren't worried about PEDs, they're worried about their (potential) employees doing something illegal, whether it be marijuana or PCP. That brings up an entirely different argument, but there's definitely a reason for the testing.
  10. er, john brown. Yeah, I know who it's supposed to be, but the rest of the look(beard, two tablets in the other hand that are supposed to be a book), gave me a different initial impression.
  11. Ned Colletti considers that a dare.
  12. That picture looks like someone stuck a shotgun in Moses' off hand.
  13. How about stopping at #2? Soriano Kemp A-Rod Loney A-Ram Murton DeRosa Soto Use Pie + Marshall to upgrade the rotation.
  14. That shirt is amazing. Reminds me of the student near our section that dressed up like Quantrill for the Kansas game last year.
  15. What do you mean by full season? As a starter? I'd have no interest in either starting. However, given Fontenot's numbers vs RHP this year, .297/.358/.423, I would think he'd be able to at least come close, if not exceed, Infante's career .257/.301/.387 line, as a part-time player. Fontenot v. RHP June: .410/.449/.689 Every other month: .239/.318/.289 What site did you find those numbers at? I was trying to find that breakdown earlier, but couldn't. Thanks in advance. MLB.com is the only site that lets you do double situational splits like that, at least to my knowledge.
  16. You can't believe this. He's 25, and he's been at least league average away from his cavernous home park for the last 3 years. It's not a guarantee by any stretch, but to write him off to awful production like he's Jose Macias or something is ignoring the context of his career.
  17. Which words would be eaten? The ones saying he won't play enough to hurt the team, or the ones saying his pathetic out making offense won't help the team? About his offense.

  19. I think a lot of people will end up eating their words about Infante. I can see him playing SS v. RHP and CF v. LHP. They sign Fukudome as extra insurance for CF(they like Theriot enough not to want/need extra SS insurance), and Murton is a failsafe against Fukudome falling on his face as an offensive RF. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez DeRosa Pie/Soto Soto/Theriot Infante Not awe inspiring, but probably better.
  20. What's the difference between South Carolina and Colorado? Colorado actually played someone in the non-conference. The same comparison will work with Kentucky once they lose to Georgia and Tennessee.
  21. It is the best this year. The problem comes when people say krazy stuff like "name a team and they'd lose 2 in the SEC" based off the name of the schools.
  22. I think I'm going to be in a bit of trouble this week. I need lots of points from the Colts.
  23. It's more accurate of a predictor than not using margin of victory. It may not be politically correct, but it should be used. Most sophisticated models like that actually don't take pure points over. They scale down as you blow out a team. Others simply cutoff at 3 TDs or something. However, these modifications generally make the model less accurate, so that arguments not very effective. Accurate for what, prediction? I don't see how that could be useful in football with its short schedules.
  24. They didn't pass us, they've been in front of us in the human polls. But yes, we should be ranked in front of WVU, but I'm not too worried about it since we'll jump them at the end of the season if we win. Mizzou/K-State is on FSN. I don't understand how we end up on FSN rather than ESPN/ABC even more than last year when we weren't good. The Big 12 TV contract is a joke. Not right now you shouldn't. Same strength of schedule according to Sagarin and the offenses are close, but Missouri's defense is far worse than WVU's. But I agree that if Missouri wins out which would mean beating Kansas and Oklahoma, they should probably jump WVU. Mizzou's loss is much "better", and their best win is better than WVU's. The only reason they aren't in front of WVU is the fact that they had higher to climb to get to that point.
