  1. Half of the top 10 in reliever fWAR last year had a BB% of at least 12%, there's a bit of a cost of doing business if you want to have dominant swing and miss stuff. Ironically, one of those 10 that didn't reach that mark(didn't come close really) was Scott. I'm not over the moon about him as a candidate in particular, but I'd caution to not over-index on walk rate, and definitely don't do so for a handful of April outings that he's already showing signs of moving past.
  2. I assume that such a deal would be for Scott. His early season control problems, non-trivial salary(5.7M), and imminent free agency would help keep the cost down, on top of being a solid fit as a lefty with velo to fit in the back of the pen. The other, more speculative target to me would be Puk. He was a bit homer happy last year so you risk a period similar to what Adbert's dealing with, but you'd also have 2 arb years after this year to enjoy the fruits of your labor. The other complicating factor is that he's currently on the DL with "shoulder fatigue", which seems like a level of risk they wouldn't take for this move unless Jed felt he was getting a big bargain.
  3. the framing ability really runs in the family doesn't it
  4. We'll know if Boog has ever really pissed off a producer if he has to do a game with Girardi and a multi-inning Jeff Garlin interview.
  5. what are the odds that Jed was never planned to be here today and Boog texted him in the 2nd inning that Joe was already driving him nuts and to please give him an inning of peace
  6. Seems likely that it was his call, but PCA has a .233 OBP across AAA and MLB this year, against Peralta it's probably as good a bet as any.
  7. Shaw has had a poor couple weeks, but he still has like a 130 wRC+ career mark at the AA level. We don't have to reconsider our opinion of a player's quality every 10 days.
  8. friendship ended with Matt Shaw, now Moises Ballesteros is my best friend
  9. JD this might be controversial but I think the 'something he could do' on that play is catch the ball with his glove that got hit by the ball(or would have, were it not for his hand)
  10. always loved Hunter Wendelstedt, brilliant arbiter of the game I call him
  11. If only there were a real-time win probability graphic on the screen at all times today!
  12. you already rung up Hoskins on that exact motion, come on
  13. I don't know if this actually matters but even when he's hitting well he doesn't 'look' like a good hitter when he swings. There's something just a little bit clumsy about everything.
  14. Good thing for the renovations, that might've caused a structural issue across the street
  15. dying at Boog making a Toby/Hoby joke and then immediately asking "are we spending too much time together?"
  16. I don't want to be overdramatic but I think Taillon should be allowed to punch this umpire in the teeth
  17. Taillon has a 2.95 ERA in his last 19 starts, since he turned things around in that start at Yankee stadium. Averaging 6 IP/GS too.
  18. Man he backspins the bejeezus out of those when he gets a hold of one, majestic
  19. lol okay man, just say "you're not my dad" next time, it's faster
