  1. Pujols with another home run, the overeager camera guy frames it like it's gonna hit the scoreboard then is forced to pan down when it's 4 rows deep. Ludwick lines out to right center to lower his OPS to a paltry 1.199.
  2. you're going to get a lot of good pitches to hit when you've got ryan ludwick hitting behind you. Ludwick's gonna bump that OPS north of 1.200 with a hit in his next at bat.
  3. Albert Pujols just destroyed a ball to left field, I didn't think a home run could land that high.
  4. Izturis just went out to LF in Petco. It's his first home run as a RH hitter since 2005.
  5. There are no teams left in the playoffs worth rooting for.
  6. Ludwick currently rocking a 32.7 LD%. The highest of any major leaguer in the last several years was Brian Roberts at 28.something, I can't find the link for the exact number.
  7. I laughed at my TV screen when Thorne said he "looped it to LF".
  8. I saw he was at 97 after 7, and man that's a tough call. You know they haven't been high stress pitches, and he was in the windup for most of the time, but that's still a lot for a young arm in a game that is well in hand. At least he got the no-no so it wasn't completely in vain.
  9. call it, just because he buckles doesn't mean it's high
  10. It looked like a "my bad" or "I know I wasn't thinking" thing to me.
  11. Seriously though, what does that even mean? To "progress smartly" through a system?
  12. Really doesn't matter as you have to bid for the rights to talk to him with his current team, not to mention all the bids are blind. That bid alone is going to be $60 Million+ and doesn't include his contract which will be huge. I understand that but all Fukudome has to do is pick up the phone and give him a call. Players are always encouraging other players to join their team. Yes, but again, it doesn't matter. Darvish wouldn't control the team that gets his rights, it's a blind auction.
  13. Hmmm, I'd disagree with that sentiment. This board existed before Sean Gallagher was with the Cubs, right? This is not a high school player being discussed, who may or may not choose professional sports -- it's a major league athlete. Jim Hendry has a father, doesn't he? (Though perhaps he is no longer with us, I don't know.) If one of my parents chooses the internet to bask in the pleasure of my professional success, and it gets noticed by people who have an interest in or knowledge of my career, they'd have plenty of people ready to note what an ass I am. (But of course, they wouldn't, and if they didn't, it wouldn't get noticed.) I disagree that for a starter in May, Gallagher is better than Leiber and Marquis. I surely hope that for starter in Jul/Aug/Sep, and pitcher on the roster in the post-season, he's a better option than both those guys. And if Marquis' dad or Leiber's dad reads this, I don't have any apologies. It's my opinion of what is best for the Cubs. . Its real simple - if you want to s--- all over Gallagher or pick apart his performance, no one is stopping you. Just go do it in another thread and let his Dad - who has been kind enough to share inside info with us for a while now - enjoy this moment. In other words, show some class....if you have any, that is. Like was mentioned, this wasn't really that type of thread. This one is though.
  14. I have the NL with 18 wins and the AL with 22.
  15. He also had over 700 MLB PA's where he hadn't done much of anything.
  16. lol Brenly "Dumatrait just failed Baseball 101, don't walk the bases loaded in front of the hottest hitter in the world"
  17. Johnson, please don't call off Kosuke there. He's moving towards third, you aren't. He has a good arm, you don't.
  18. The problem is that there's not enough sample size for Gallagher as a starter to properly evaluate, which was kind of my point. There's been several people saying that Gallagher's outing(s) haven't been great because he got lucky with giving up hard shots, he was even compared to Ryan F. O'Malley. That obviously hasn't been the case, and when those people claim "irrational exuberance" from those excited about a player of Gallagher's potential replacing the dead ends of Marquis/Lieber, it's easy to understand why they'd be aggravated. I don't think he's O'Malley, and I didn't say his starts were bad. I said they weren't great, and weren't bad, and basically let's wait and see before getting too worked up. I seriously can't believe my point is being missed. You're the one who quoted me, I was responding to the thread in general in the first place.
