  1. Milwaukee is losing to the ghosts of Brewer past, that's terrific
  2. That's good news. The difference between Marshall and Harden over 1 start is well worth the chance to give Harden 2 weeks to rest.
  3. Anytime Soto scores, it's earned. Well, I'm happy that Soto scored, but why is Cueto charged with an ER on an obvious error on the SS? It wasn't earned.
  4. Gameday has his sliders ranging from 81-88 mph in his last outing. It's certainly possible those could be mislabeled.
  5. That's worth noting, but that makes it a staggering coincidence that his performance went completely in the tank after that extra innings debacle.
  6. I wouldn't mind Harden not pitching before the break, but that means we either go to 13 pitchers, or Cotts/Wuertz has to go down, putting us down a reliever.
  7. Bad moves Jim Hendry has made in the last calendar year: Trading for Trachsel The end. Good stuff Jim.
  8. Cap 1 is the only one that has a Cubs logo on it.
  9. I was hoping that Jackson's turn was coming around, hopefully he can stay hot. Have we seen any reports of Cales making it to Mesa yet?
  10. Yup. I have heard that Jimbo goes into full Prior bashing mode after a few Whiskey waters. Wasn't there a pretty revealing piece on some website about a luncheon where Hendry went off on Prior and was very candid? I seem to recall that from a ways back. Yeah, it was on Hire Jim Essian.
  11. I think something to keep in mind is Harden's repertoire. He throws a mid 80's splitter that could be mischarted as a fastball if it doesn't have much movement, especially if he overthrows it, causing it to flatten out and jump in velocity a little bit to say 88-89 mph.
  12. Not to get too granular about this (and not to be a pain in the arse), but wont the avg velocity be heavily impacted by pitch mix? Has that been pretty constant? Average fastball velocity
  13. I love Fontenot, but replacing him on the roster with a guy like Casey Blake would bring some serious balance to the bench. It's too bad that Fontenot isn't a very good defender, him being even passable at SS would give us an amazing bench with a guy like Blake on board.
  14. The Cubs still have quality pitching depth. Zambrano, Harden, Lilly, Dempster, Marquis, Gaudin, Marshall, Rich Hill on the comeback trail, and Lieber is supposedly alive as well. EDIT: Considering that Gaudin and Gallagher are similar options for this year, they actually ADDED pitching depth with the deal.
  15. That's as hard as I've ever seen Theriot throw a ball.
  16. He has walked 8 in his last 14 innings, including 8 in a 9 IP span. That's a bit of an odd way to say no walks in his last 5 IP. His walk rate overall isn't bad, but he did have a brief bout with wildness, during which he allowed one earned run. Just explaining the perception is all.
  17. He has walked 8 in his last 14 innings, including 8 in a 9 IP span.
  18. I think his presence is a significant factor in Marquis not being lifted from the rotation.
  19. Where was this inside corner when Bako was at the plate?
  20. pretty basic info; probably more analysis tomorrow. Bold prediction: Christina Kahrl will hate the deal for both teams. why do you say that? she liked the sabathia deal on both sides. I'm not a BP Subscriber, but everything I've ever read of Kahrl's transaction analysis has been derision towards both sides of each deal covered.
  21. pretty basic info; probably more analysis tomorrow. Bold prediction: Christina Kahrl will hate the deal for both teams.
  22. What's the rule on runners interfering with batted balls? Could the runner have intentionally knocked that DP ball down to save the inning and get a run, or do the runners return to their bases if it's intentional?
  23. Harden injury insurance in Iowa. Let Hill's return bump Marquis from the rotation.
