  1. Samson's a non-prospect to me. A terrible IsoP leaves him at just a .734 OPS despite that average and decent walk rate. He's also made 23 errors in 87 games.
  2. Yes, but will he be the same pitcher? That remains to be seen. Sucks this happened, he looked very promising. It might take him a bit to regain his command, but that was his strength before. Some people have added velocity through the surgery and rehab in the past.
  3. Aren't those two teams under .500? LA is 6.5 games out of the wild card, and Arizona 5.5(they lead the West).
  4. He just hit that ball off his fists into the upper deck
  5. haha are you kidding me, I've never seen someone toy with the edge of the stadium this many times
  6. I'm glad it's happening early, rather than having recurring injuries for several years. He'll still be relatively age appropriate when he's done rehabbing.
  7. Pitcher Change: Randy Wells replaces Jeff Samardzija, batting 9th. Alberto Concepcion singles on a fly ball to left fielder Jason Dubois. Tommy Murphy hits a sacrifice bunt. Throwing error by third baseman Casey McGehee. Alberto Concepcion to 3rd. Tommy Murphy to 2nd. Chris Barnwell reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by third baseman Casey McGehee. Alberto Concepcion scores. Tommy Murphy scores. Missed catch error by third baseman Casey McGehee, assist to third baseman Casey McGehee to catcher Anthony Richie. John Gall singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jason Dubois. Chris Barnwell to 3rd. Dallas McPherson singles on a ground ball to right fielder Josh Kroeger. Chris Barnwell scores. John Gall to 3rd. With Jason Wood batting, Dallas McPherson steals (10) 2nd base. Jason Wood singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jason Dubois. John Gall scores. Dallas McPherson scores. Andrew Beattie singles on a ground ball to left fielder Jason Dubois. Jason Wood to 3rd. Pitcher Change: Carmen Pignatiello replaces Randy Wells, batting 9th.
  8. How do you only throw 22 pitches when you walk 2 and strikeout 2?
  9. Cales day, hooray edit: .2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 1 HR, 2/0 K/BB, ugh
  10. Meh Sabathia threw 122 yesterday That just means that Sheets should throw 130 just to show up the new guy. Heck, make it 150. the brewers probably don't care now about long term effects of high pitch counts for sheets and sabathia, given that they most likely won't re-sign either one at the end of the year....if both of those guys make it through the rest of the season without DL stints, i'll be amazed. You'd think they'd pay attention to how much Sabathia wore down last year in the playoffs.
  11. Is it Christmas? Are you sure?
  12. Yeah, Hendry long has a reputation of being a straight shooter, so I believe him when he said it was in the works for a month. Plus the Cubs were linked to Harden going back that far in the rumor mill, which is stronger evidence than a nameless AL executive trying to make Hendry sound desperate.
  13. Samardzija faces Albuquerque for the 3rd time in 5 starts, the 2nd time in Albuquerque.
  14. I think the argument can be made that there's no difference in "protecting" someone with a glove. Either you're close enough that a line drive foul is too quick for your reactions with or without glove, or you're far enough a way that you can get both hands up to protect yourself/your kid.
  15. You really think that Soriano's motivation for not going on a rehab assignment in late April was the all star game? And Soriano's miscues in Pittsburgh were two weeks after he got back. As to the leadoff argument, it's relatively simple. The best hitters should hit closest to the top, with some adjustment to make sure they come up with guys on(hence the lack of Lee/Ramirez/Soto to leadoff outcries). Soriano has an .879 OPS and a .287 EqA, Theriot has a .767 OPS and a .273 EqA. These are substantial differences(EqA showing that Soriano is better despite his OBP deficit), and therefore Soriano should be the one to get more at bats if at all possible. Especially in an offense that doesn't need Soriano's slugging in the middle of the order with Lee/Ramirez/Soto/Edmonds/DeRosa there, getting Soriano's production to the top is beneficial over Theriot's slaptastic OBP.
  16. Coleman's only baserunners were a pair of solo home runs to the same person. 5 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 5/0 K/BB 8 GO-2 FO I'd like to see him follow Jay Jackson to Peoria.
  17. Getting excited about the win is nothing to be upset with. The Pittsburgh announcers are pretty bad though. "Raise the Jolly Roger" makes me cringe just thinking about someone saying that unironically, and there was a game there a couple years ago where they ignored the game(and about 5 runs) for about 10 minutes to talk to someone from the Penguins organization.
  18. Eyre was not so good for Peoria: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2/0 K/BB Hernandez came in and stranded 2 inherited runners with a nice outing. 5.2 scoreless and hitless IP, 3/2 K/BB
  19. Any idea on his pitch count? 104 with 2 outs in the inning.
  20. This probably isn't the right weekend to make this statement.
  21. That scouting report seems a little strange to me. When Marmol was going well his slider was his get me over pitch, and quite often he'd hit the glove exactly with it. Obviously that's when he's at his best so it's not always applicable, but still he relied on his slider because he could put it over the plate when he wanted to, not just because it's a wiffle ball pitch that gets swings and misses out of the zone.
  22. That means the PM is sent, the person just hasn't opened it yet.
