  1. Someone find me an average offensive 3B with plus to plus-plus defense(or some equivalent combination) for 6 million on the open market.
  2. Mizzou drops a tough game at Vanderbilt. Cut the lead from 14 with 6 minutes to play to 2 with under a minute to play, and a heinous charge call on Tiller killed the rally. That, and Vandy making like 90% of their free throws.
  3. I don't know if 7 million and their first rounder is a steal per se, but I think Wagner will be a good reliever for them. It's disappointing that he might set the market for the rest of the good Type A relievers though, I was/am hoping that their value would be suppressed a bit.
  4. Musberger did an interview last year where he said that was his big concern about Paterno. For those guys, without football, what do you fill the hours with, and why bother?
  5. Depending on how much you like Bill James, there's not much difference going from Harden to Gorzelanny next year. But that's really beside the point. I find it incredibly hard to believe that ALL of the following are true. A) No one is going to offer Harden a multi-year deal or more lucrative 1 year deal (It took about 20 minutes for a very smart franchise to have interest in him) B) Harden would accept arbitration before realizing that no one is going to offer him a multi year deal or more lucrative 1 year deal C) Harden would not be worth his arbitration salary in 2010 D) No one would want Harden in trade at his arbitration salary E) No one would want Harden in trade at a little below his arbitration salary(meaning the Cubs paid a couple million for a chance at a high pick plus whatever they get in return for Harden)
  6. Saban going to Notre Dame would be incredible, although if I have to pick between Bama or ND being good, I take Bama.
  7. Should've covered your mouth, Greg.
  8. Why? Who cares about his sexuality? Sizemore's popularity among women is pretty well documented. I imagine there's more than a few Grady's Ladies that would feel differently about him if he were gay.
  9. Mizzou will get the Sun Bowl. Not without Nebraska winning. Otherwise it's OSU to the Cotton, the Holiday jumps at their chance to get OU, Alamo takes Nebraska, and Sun takes Texas Tech for a home town crowd.
  10. Go Nebraska, I don't want to have to find a place with NFL Network to watch Mizzou play in the Insight Bowl.
  11. He's no Pete Rose.
  12. A lot of people seem to assume that hes nothing more than a part time player because he hasnt played a full season as a full timer. With the other options being Luis Castillo, Mike Fontenot, and Aarin Miles, I would love to give him that chance, but unfortunately for Jeff, Luis Castillo seems to be in the cards. Also, his .361 BABIP with a 19.4 LD%. His career BABIP is 40 points lower. Fangraphs has his career BABIP at .337.
  13. Yeah, seems to me like both sides are a little at fault. There's nothing to gain by taking the timeouts to 2010, but what's the benefit of using them? Getting a punt with 20 seconds left on the clock? USC is bush league for running a play action bomb and going crazy over it, they should've just run the ball in that case. But UCLA is overreacting by having the entire sideline march towards USC.
  14. They aren't a good shooting team right now. The guys who are talented are young and inconsistent, and their experience who plays the most minutes just can't shoot. Tiller and Taylor as a starting backcourt is killing us without Lawrence to stretch the floor.
  15. /exhale Danario Alexander is the best receiver in the country, I will brook no argument about this.
  16. Mizzou's jerseys are awesome.
  17. Wow, that was a great segment about that kid and USC.
  18. I think ODU might be pretty decent. And not just bc they beat OU, who looks terrible this year. I haven't had a chance to see them, and this game isn't on TV, so I don't know if they are doing a good job of stopping us or we are just playing terribly. We're only shooting 37%. Mizzou up 58-51 with 35 ticks left. Mizzou dominated the first half, but they shot so poorly they couldn't get a lead of more than 15. Because ODU couldn't possibly turn it over 20 more times in the second half, the game tightened up before Mizzou held on. ODU is a good team, they're supposed to win the CAA and like Snood said they already took down OU.
  19. This has been some horrendous clock management, yikes.
  20. One of the things I personally enjoy the most about Wrigley is how little of an invasive presence advertising and other such antics have. Compared to all other ballparks, there is staggeringly little advertising when you look out over the field of play. Furthermore, games at Wrigley don't attempt to pack every second between innings or even pitches with side games, advertisements, and canned noise. I don't expect everyone to appreciate or enjoy that the same way I do, but to characterize me as someone who is a fan of Wrigley more than the team because I appreciate Wrigley's relative lack of intrusion on my baseball watching experience is way off base.
  21. Like this? http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/individual_player_hitting_chart.jsp?c_id=chc&playerID=117601&statType=1
  22. It doesn't appear there's going to be much contractural difference, so I don't see any reason to pursue Byrd over Cameron.
  23. Cabrera has consistency over Votto and Gonzalez, ability over Howard and Fielder, and age over Teixeira. He's been a Top 10-15 hitter in the game for 3 of the last 4 years, and he's 26 and locked up through age 32. That's what makes him worth his long term deal plus a trade package.
  24. So if Miles had been as good as DeRosa, he would've played as much as DeRosa. But he's not, so he played less than 1/3 as much.
  25. Deal with the outfield defense for 1 year then move him to 1B.
