  1. That was incomprehensible and I'm mad at you for exposing me to it. On the plus side, it did make me wonder if Murray Chass wrote the style guide for the New York Post, and that led me to the delightful opening to his wikipedia page: "Murray Chass (born October 12, 1938, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) [1] is an American blogger who covers baseball."
  2. Are the Cubs starters going to bounce back based on thousands of innings of past performance? No, it is the children projections that are wrong.
  3. Really? That seems kinda weird to me, especially since Rizzo himself was not a first rounder. I would guess that since all he knows about Nico is that he's a first rounder, Rizzo tried to highlight that commonality with all the first rounders in the clubhouse. On the other hand, of the 10 regular position players, the only non-first rounders are Contreras(IFA), Rizzo(6th), and Zobrist(6th). Even Caratini was 65th overall. Schwarber, Happ, Almora, Heyward, Bryant, Russell, Baez, all 1st rounders.
  4. This feels like ‘we need another Montgomery in the pen because some combination of Darvish being dead and Chatwood being better off dead means Montgomery isn’t going back to the pen anytime soon’.
  5. The AL is 85-102 against the NL this year. At current winning percentages, the Indians will play about 110 games against teams with a losing record, and they are currently playing at an 89 win pace.
  6. Or like when the Nats got Doolittle and Madson in the same deal. One stop shopping to fix the bullpen. I was also thinking of the angle that they're getting a prospect that neither individual would fetch alone, but has lost a little bit of luster since the start of the season(Russell/Mejia).
  7. Cimber also going to Cleveland with Hand, Mejia the headliner going to San Diego. This feels a whole lot like the Samardzija/Hammel deal.
  8. I do agree with the 'challenge right away or don't' sentiment. It's a bit absurd to me that they let teams delay the game to look at replays to decide whether to ask umpires to look at replays. If that team is pitching there's not a ton that can be done, although a pitch clock would help with that.
  9. Man, Nagbe will be 32 by the time the '22 WC starts, would not have guessed that.
  10. I need someone to fill the hole in my heart that Filiere left when he decided to be terrible at South Bend this year. Maybe Reynolds is the guy.
  11. I don't even think it's him but I'm gonna pretend it's Cervelli because confirmation bias is fun sometimes
  12. This was in 2016: https://twitter.com/beanbooper/status/1019428543934140416?s=21 This one seems to be of dubious authenticity, at least
  13. There wasn't really a big spring training stunt like there has been before, the bounce castle was the closest but that was the FO more than Joe to my knowledge. I think it's more likely the themed roadtrip stuff happens later in the year as the grind sets in though, I'd be surprised if they went the whole season without that type of fun side show.
  14. lollll at him ignoring olney
  15. that one little leaguer in lf thinks its his time to shine
  16. well, he’ll make him earn it at the least
  17. has christian yelich ever seen a hammer in his life
  18. what's the deal with crossfit DJ Khaled pitching to Bryce
  19. I now need Harper to hit a home run that circles the globe and hits Muncy in the back of the head
  20. even setting aside the obvious rooting interest, I'm really glad I didn't have to sit through another round of Bregman trying to sneak as many line drives into the bullpen as he could muster
  21. how about we get Roederer up to Eugene
  22. Bryant got him in 2016 right? anyway the game is getting rained out so nothing is gonna happen which is for the best Yep, I had to look it up to make sure it was Sale, but Bryant went deep in the 1st off him in Petco.

  24. Multiple Cubs players hitting all-star game home runs off Chris Sale would be very very funny, boy I hope it happens.
