  1. You have no idea of the carnage that game thread starting can cause. I'm pretty sure Serena PM's the people who are upcoming when it gets close to their turn, although there may be a different procedure this year.
  2. a: macias b: perez c: holla A and B are correct, but C is wrong.
  3. More statistical fun... 3 Year Splits vs. LHP Player A: .247/.271/.360/.631 Player B: .241/.273/.355/.628 Player C: .244/.261/.422/.683 (2 year splits: .297/.315/.513/.828) Who are these guys?
  4. Anyone read the Cub Reporter today?
  5. This might be the first time in history anyone has talked about "saving" Neifi's bat. And I can see why you're not disturbed by Dusty's PH philosophy: you share his exaggerated respect for L/R matchups. Yeah, Neifi can swing a bat left-handed, but he is REALLY bad at it. Well, I mistakenly thought we had used Hairston. And I think Neifi is Teddy "Ballgame" Williams compared to Macias, so I would 'save' him if all I had left was Macias, LOL! I think the L/R matchup thing is pretty widespread. I'd say it's very widespread. I think Dusty is one among almost everybody on that one. Some like LaRussa are constant stat-checkers, but most believe strongly in the L/R thing from what I've seen. L/R strategy is conventional wisdom, that the lefty will pick the ball up better vs. a righty, and vice versa. However, when you have a lefty who cannot hit right handed pitching(Macias, Perez) and a righty who can (Hairston), it doesn't make sense to play the L/R matchup.
  6. Fun Fact of the Day: Adam Dunn now has 20 more career HR than John Kruk.
  7. I know. It sucks. :( Adam Dunn tracker: .500/.500/2.000 2 HR 5 RBI 0 BB 2 K 568 at bat projection: 284 HR 710 RBI 0 BB 284 K Those numbers are pathetic. Check out the Dmitri Young tracker: 1.000/1.000/3.250 3 HR 5 RBI 568 AB projection: 426 HR 710 RBI
  8. Out of curiosity, I wonder how this compares to the crunch that other systems have?
  9. My goodness the Cavs are bad. The starting backcourt of Snow and Newble has to be one of the worst on a playoff caliber team ever. PLAY VAREJAO AND PAVLOVIC!

  11. Sorry if this post shouldn't be here, but wouldn't it be more fair to have all the entries PM'ed or emailed to someone, then have them all displayed after the deadline?
  12. Well, sure, when you have someone "Chaney" Shaq, then it's not so bad. :P Kudos to the Bulls for getting 2 wins out of that stretch. At least my Cavaliers beat them. Speaking of the Cavaliers, they got rocked by Indiana tonight, real bad shooting night. They add Jiri Welsch at the deadline, then he plays 5 minutes while Newble gets 35 and Snow gets 23. :wall:
  13. The Cavs are average away from home. They beat the Bulls by 22 when they visited the Gund the first time. I actually could get tickets to this game, but I have baseball and probably homework.
  14. Who do you think they'll beat besides Charlotte. That's the 3 best teams in the conference aside from Detroit, and playing all 3 in 4 days is a daunting task. I really think that the Bulls can beat pretty much any team in the league on any given night. That's true of any team outside of the 10 win trifecta. Beating Miami, Cleveland, and Washington on it's own isn't a huge deal, but all 3 in 4 nights? IMO it'll be tough for them to pull one out. I don't really see how playing them on back to back to back nights will change anything. I think that they can take Cleveland and Washington. Miami will be though. I dunno. I can't see them winning in Cleveland the night after Miami and a plane out to Cleveland. Washington is their best shot IMO. Of course I'm a Cavaliers fan, but you can't argue with the results. Miami is very very good, and the Cavs have the 3rd best home mark in the NBA. With Cleveland not having a game the night before, the odds are really stacked against the Bulls to not start 0-2.

  19. You have to armwrestle Roast for it. (Read: Now I win)
  20. What's the competition like in the DSL? And no internet jokes either. :)
  21. Like I always say, quantity over quality, er, something like that. :D
  22. Three people had the correct guess for Castilla, three for Guzman and I'd have to check the entry dates to find out about Vizquel. I think the most fair way to do it is to give credit to those who got their ballots in early and picked the correct teams before the signings, but not to give credit for anyone that puts down the correct answers for Vizquel, Castilla or Guzman (so far). The moral of the story is: Get your entries in now so that you have the best chance of getting as many people right as possible! No credit will be given for already signed free agents when you submit your ballot. That's probably a good way to go about it, but my only quibble with it is that people who submitted on different dates now have a different number of possible points that they can get. It's slightly unfair towards those who submit closer to the deadline, since some of the points that others were eligible for they cannot receive. I don't know how to fix this problem, but I thought I'd point it out. I say call the BCS!
  23. Perhaps it's time to move this to Transactions and Sticky it? It also might help if one of the mods or CFP could delete the old lists to eliminate confusions. Never mind. I'll just copy the lists and post them over there, and then the powers that be can decide if they are sticky-worthy.
  24. He's still arbitration eligible, but I'm not sure if this is his second or third time through the process. If it's the former, he'll be arby eligible after 2005, if it's the latter he'll be a Free Agent after 2005.
