  1. Nuts. Hairston was barrelling into Eckstein there. Did he get up in time?
  2. I hate smallball. It looked like Walker was trying to ground out there. Does Wrigley boo Pujols? I don't think so, but I don't remember for sure.
  3. Good inning Carlos. Keep getting that pitch count on track.
  4. I really dont like the idea of getting Kearns. I mean, He had a Great 2003. If we could get 2003 Keans, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But, he has underacheived ever since. He, to me, is a HUGE risk. Especially when someone better (DUNN) could be had. I'd rather just have Murton play every day, rather then kearns, personally. But, I guess if it comes down to it, I wouldnt mind him. Boy, you could have said almost EXACTLY the same thing about Aramis Ramirez circa 2003.
  5. Actually, against Carpenter it's not a bad idea to load up with the LH. I think he might be the best in the game against RH batters: .172/.212/.457 LH batters: .252/.314/.712 It'll be nice to have Murton/Cedeno off the bench late in the ballgame to face King, Flores, etc. Macias will get that PH appearance, and there won't be another one against a LH in all likelihood.
  6. Maybe they are getting more than one player for Kearns and needed the 40-man space.
  7. FWIW, Damon isn't that great away from Fenway. Definitely not 3-4 years, 8-10 million per good.
  8. Link Good to hear, but his contract demands(dollars and years both) worry me.
  9. It is such a diverse opinion about him, depends on which day and which poster their reading. Exactly, like Rocket said, one post isn't anything close to an indication of the board. RedsZone has a lot of good info and quality posters.
  10. I wonder what they'd think of some of the opinions on Dunn around here.
  11. I agree, it's not like the movie/music discussions are preventing other social discussions from getting their due.
  12. Before coming to the Cubs, Ramirez had one great year, one terrible year, and was having a decent half-year. Kearns, like Ramirez, came up very young (straight from AA), and more than held his own. There's no question that he's an All-Star caliber talent when healthy and he's only 25 (the same age as Ramirez when he was traded). Any time I can get my hands on a young player like that who's coming from a bad situation, I'd be thrilled. Kearns had one good season in the majors, that can be characterized as lucky, or a fluke due to his ridiculous BABIP. Since then his IsoP and IsoD have remained constant(which indicates he's still got the same power and patience as he did before), but his numbers have caught up with his luck. Sure Kearns is talented, and only 25 with a solid minor league track record. I wouldn't mind him at a discounted price, but I don't think you can expect any improvement out of him if you acquire him.
  13. Ramirez had success before coming a Cub, major league success. Kearns had one good year as a big leaguer, and did so at a completely unsustainable rate. Sure he might turn it around and translate his minor league numbers into major league success, but he doesn't have the background that Ramirez did when he acquired him.
  14. I predict we knock Carpenter all over the park tonight.
  15. IMO = In My Opinion A thread that is stickied has a higher priority than other threads, so it can't be bumped down the list on the forum, except for by other stickies, I believe.
  16. That's what I'm thinking. It's really unlikely he puts up these type of numbers again, but I don't think he'll regress all the way back to his career norms.
  17. Think about this logic for a second. It always assumes that the veteran or incumbent is better until the rookie proves otherwise. That's wrong. For the kid, it's guilty until proven innocent, but the other way around for the vet.
  18. I agree with this. Not to say Perez is below average at short, but just that his reputation is overstated, and that Cedeno would likely be as good defensively.
