  1. COME ON EVERYONE, TIME TO STEP UP who wants the "i hope you shred your knee, garoid" signature? No assembly required http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/cubsfan_05/steroidfield.jpg
  2. AlwaysAlwaysAlways say how many teams are in the league.
  3. With Ponson destined for unparallelled levels of success, they're actually going to trade away any and all starting pitching they have to build a super-bench to go with an uber-bullpen. Ponson will pitch 5 innings in every game, his "strong" frame helping to give him the durability to perform day in and day out.
  4. Speaking of Gonzaga and Morrison, this reminded me of this.
  5. How is that NSFW language? The most profane word in there is" nuts".
  6. People can critcize Soriano for lots of reasons (money, defense, attitude, etc.), but to say that Soriano is only a "marginal improvement offensively" over Walker is ridiculous. I like Walker, but he has to fight for a starting job every year while Soriano is making All-Star teams. Offensively, Soriano is Jeff Kent with speed. 2004: 98 OPS+ 2005: 110 OPS+ 2004: 105 OPS+ 2005: 115 OPS+ Which one is Walker, and which one is Soriano? Highlight to find out
  7. Not really. Central Michigan Grad, assistant at MSU under Heathcoate, assistant at Pitt and Western Kentucky, assistant at MSU under Izzo, Marquette head coach.
  8. Yep, potshots at the other team. That's what we're all about here at NSBB. And racist remarks? What are you talking about? I'm not talking about anything specific. I'm just saying......... it's hard to deal with Cub fans here, because of the personal shots that they take. Okay. Pretty much false, but whatever.

  10. Pssst, there's a massive thread on the topic directly below.
  11. KC Star says Alford won't interview at Mizzou Apparently the DeArmonds are pretty reliable, so this is good news.
  12. And either way, it's not like that situation is why Soriano is being shone in a bad light.
  13. According to the Baseball Cube, Ryu turns 23 in May. You're right. My math is not. I saw he was born in 83, and said 21. It's 2006 right? That's the word around town.
  14. There's a committee, a torn one at that. Apparently, all except Alden(and by extension, the higher ups at the University) were in favor of going after Huggins, or at least that's the rumor. I can't remember who all is on the committee, pretty sure Link the radio announcer(the guy involved with the Snyder resignation fiasco) as well as Jon Sundvold are both a part of it. Norm Stewart is not on the committee.

  16. Because Dusty would have the sense to not bat Neifi near the top of the lineup for any period of time? The guy had 390 plate appearances at the 1-2 spot last year, 274 of them hitting second(exact same number as Todd Walker). If you don't think Dusty is going to do that again, that's fine. But labelling people as paranoid because Dusty has done it before and is doing it again(albeit in spring training) is unnecessary and ultimatlely wrong.
  17. Does it really matter though when you are getting 30+ HRs and 30+ steals from a second baseman? So, if Aramis says today "I want to play 2b, are you going to give the position to him?" Could you just imagine watching David Ortiz play 2b base? Who cares. The guy can rake, right? Those two obviously aren't second basemen. And if Aramis moved to second, it would create an even bigger hole at 3B...a spot where you need power. I'm just saying, Soriano actually is a second baseman, and even though he plays it poorly, I think it is offset by his offensive production. If he had a .350 OBP to go along with everything else, would people really care about his defense? Apparently people are still concerned about Todd Walker's defense after he puts up a .350 OBP with good power(albeit not as much power as Soriano), so someone would care I'm sure.
  18. That seems a bit extreme. I'll be pretty disappointed if Alford gets hired, but after that he's our coach and I need to support him and what's left of the team. In related news, Thomas Gardner declared for the draft but didn't hire an agent. I really doubt he stays in, or he'll probably be NBDL bound.
  19. Does it really matter though when you are getting 30+ HRs and 30+ steals from a second baseman? And a .300ish OBP, yes, yes it does.
  20. I don't remember in detail, but I think it had to do with (no joke) him or someone in the program buying players meals.
  21. Apparently they are committed to having someone who will for sure run a clean program. Majerus and (especially) Huggins don't fit that criteria. Wasn't Majerus' health a big concern as well? Probably, NCAA past is the big reason I heard though.

  23. When I saw you started the new thread, I went to the trouble to reply, and I don't want it to go to waste, even though I've already stated my thoughts on Alford. Progression of my Mizzou basketball fandom: Find out I'm goin to Mizzou: :) Loss to Sam Houston State:  Annihilation in braggin rights:  Fast start in Big 12: :) kU game, part one: \:D/ Dancing Games follwing kU game: :? Snyder resigns: :o kU game, part two: :-# End of season: :x Opportunity for good new coach: :D News that Alford is leading candidate:
  24. I heard that they decided not to go after Huggins or Majerus, but nothing of the Alford business. We could do worse than Alford, but I don't think it'd be that hard to do better. He's been decidedly mediocre/average as a coach in a big conference. Aside from this year, he's only been .500 in the league once, only once been to the NCAA tournament, and has a far from impressive overall record.
