    6.57 ERA this year in 24 IP with the Padres 6.11 ERA in 17 IP with AAA El Paso this year Last year his numbers looked a lot better in the majors and minors so hopefully its a mental thing and the Cubs can get him on track. The Cubs used to have a good track record of finding these guys and fixing them into something useful. 12HR allowed in his 42 combined innings of work this year. Got to find a way to cut that down, but the K numbers are still good. Dude is massive. BR lists him at 6’9”.

    The offense has shown a lot of patience this spring. Bryant, Rizzo, Schwarber, and Bote all drew walks in the 1st. For Schwarber it’s his 7th in 14ABs.

    David Bote is 2-2 with 2 singles in his return to the lineup. Contreras just massacred a 2 run HR off Jesse Chavez. Len said it was one of the longest he’s seen over the past few years at Surprise Stadium.

    Several nice pitching performances in the minors tonight. Duncan Robinson 6IP 3H 1BB/2K Justin Steele 5.1IP 1H 2BB/2K Faustino Carrera 4IP 1H 0BB/2K (still going) Nelson Velazquez is also 3-3 with a double, SB, and 2 RBI in Eugene’s game.

    Brailyn Marquez got into his ASG with 1 out in the 7th. He allowed singles to the first 2 hitters he faced, then struck out the next 2. He K’d Kevin Maitan to end the inning.

    Doesn't mean he's racist, but it certainly doesn't sound great. Hopefully, we don't discover some embarrassing awful thing he said on twitter... I don't really see this as being racist. He was talking about his transition from Oklahoma to Arizona. He’s been playing on elite travel teams since he was 13-14, so by his senior year of HS he is probably used to feeling like one of the older/more mature members of his team. Now after being drafted and playing with even more experienced players he’s back toward the bottom of the ladder. Also his community growing up was about 80% white vs 6% Latin American, so I could definitely see moving into a clubhouse that’s probably closer to 60-70% Latin as being a bit of a cultural shock.

    Brennan Davis made his debut with AZL 2 tonight. He’s leading off and playing CF. So far he is 1/2 with a BB and SB.

    The box score says the was blowing 22mph in from CF at game time. Either those winds died or he hit a bullet.

    Pickoff throw to 2nd hit Javy and trickled into center. Baez advanced to third, and barely beat the throw. Matheny challenged and the play was overturned because Baez was off the bag for a split second on a pop up slide while the tag was being applied.

    He seems to have attitude issues of some sort. He was suspended his first 2 starts of last season for conduct detrimental to the team. He made his start last Friday, but violated curfew during the trip to UCF and was only being moved to the bullpen. I wonder what he said/did after that to get suspended.
