  1. Who is injured right now? I can't watch the game and all Gameday is saying is "Injury Delay".
  2. The Cubs have shown some signs of coming to life with the bats but the pitching is inconsistent. Once we get Z, Maddux, Wood, and Prior back on track I think that we'll atleast level out for now. My guess is that we'll make a slight push right before the break and we'll be 12.5 out.
  3. Okay...so who are the two idiots that voted for Dusty?
  4. Sort of but not really. What I've been told is that he's got a special set of dice that he uses to make his decisions. One die is for who he's going to send down, and the other is for who he's going to call up. He's also got a magic 8-ball that he uses for trade decisions, and lately it's on a no streak.
  5. I'll take the Rangers, and if needed I'll take the D-Backs as a 2nd team.
  6. With the way Fox has been playing, Craig hasn't got much playing time a C. I think he's primarily starting at 1B right now.
  7. Instead of each person picking one team, we should all kind of say who we think each team will pick and try to come to a consensus before moving on to the next team. To avoid stretching this thing out really long give like a 12 hour limit per team for a consensus to be reached.
  8. Woohoo! My team, The Fighting Neifi's, are in tied for 131st with a score of 181. Ausmus, Podsednik, and Pedro Feliz are hurting me a little bit right now but I'm not doing horribly either.
  9. For a young off-speed pitcher to have early success in Wrigley Field is a good thing IMO. His 2 bad starts were in SF and in Florida which are 2 pitcher's parks. I think at this point in his career he's having trouble adjusting; both to the speed of the game and to hitters who have already seen tape of him and know sort of what to expect. This is fairly typical of young pitchers, once he settles down I think he'll be pretty good.
  10. I like Murton's chances way better than I like Cedeno's. So far in their young careers, Murton is averaging .89 hits per game and Cedeno is averaging .83 hits per game. Cedeno is 2 years younger and has better speed than Murton. I'd certainly like both to reach that milestone and both are fairly even right now though neither one even has 100 total hits in their careers.
  11. Micah is winning again 275 votes (36%) to 203 votes (27%). Hopefully that good little lead will last awhile longer.
  12. Pence is up 203-198 now, hopefully I'll get that fixed shortly.
  13. Are there any write-in's allowed? I think Veal is getting robbed by getting left off of the ballot. I guess his slow start is killing him now, but he's still shown enough to merit being selected to the team IMO.
  14. How was Pie helped off the field and allowed to remain in the game? I'm assuming that he was out on the slide or that the inning was over during the slide? It still doesn't seem like it'd be smart for a manager to have a player helped off the field then allow the player to go back out there, no matter how badly that player still wanted to play.
  15. I just noticed that MiLB has been projecting the first round of the rookie draft. In their latest projection done yesterday, they have the Cubs taking 3B Chris Marrero. Their description of him looks pretty good, but I'm a bit leary with the Cubs' track record of 1st round HS position players from Florida. They also mention that the Cubs are very interested in C Hank Conger and 1B/OF Travis Snider. Here is the article if anyone would like to read it.
  16. I don't have much time because I'm at lunch right now, but I've got Micah in 1st place now with 131 votes; hopefully I'll have some more time to vote later on.
  17. In other words, a raw college player! ...as opposed to a raw high schooler. Hmmmmmmmmmmm... Yeah, because RAW high schools players the Cubs have taken recently, have definately been productivet..... Have about the Cubs try a different apprach. What O_O and I are implying is that it doesn't matter if it is a raw HS or a raw college player. We'd prefer to take a polished hitter however old he is. You can prefer all you want my friend but the tools will take a toolsy player. Instead of coaches, we should start hiring mechanics to use all the tools we've got. Instead of a freakin' basketball team we should start a repair shop.
  18. Pierre isn't going to turn it around anytime soon in CF and Pie doesn't need to be rushed so what would everyone think of Finley? His contract is a tad expensive at $7mil/year, but it only goes through this year with a conditional team/mutual option for 07. As long as SF doesn't ask for Pie or Marshall for him, I don't think the asking price would be too high considering his age and current salary. It wouldn't solve our leadoff problems, but Finley would be a good #2 hitter and a good platoon guy for Pie if his option is exercised next year. He also went to SIU and he'd be closer to his hometown so it seems like a decent fit; anyone have any thoughts on it?
  19. With Zambrano on the hill tomorrow, I call for a pick-off move that picks off Ozzie instead of the runner on 1b; anybody second the motion?
  20. Is your coworker going to be able to come back from vacation every day and bring you an ornament back? If so I'd like to know where you work.
  21. WOW OTIS89 HASN'T PITCHED IN A WHILE I'll be OK. Dude, giving up that two run home run in the first was not cool. Sorry. My bad. I won't let it happen again. Come on man, you let us down today. 4R/2ER in 6 innings today and you get a loss...what were you thinking? :x On a serious note the Chiefs' only offense today was a Mark Reed solo shot in the 2nd inning.
  22. He does have a low OBP, but I think he also brings the most for the leadoff position on the team right now. He makes solid contact most of the time, he's not afraid to take pitches, he's able to lay down some good bunts, and he's also probably the fastest on the team.
  23. Maybe we need to bring back Julio Zuleta to put a "charge" back into the Cubs' bats.
  24. This coming Saturday will be 6 weeks since Brian's foot injury; does anyone know how he's doing in his rehab or if he'll be back anytime soon?
