  1. I wish I could find it just to here what Lasorda does this year.
  2. It sounds like there is a mountain lion in NYC whenever the pick is made.
  3. The Royals officially select Luke Hochevar RHP ex-Tennessee
  4. BA's last minute top-10 projection: 1. KC--Luke Hochevar 2. Col--Greg Reynolds 3. TB--Evan Longoria 4. Pit--Brad Lincoln 5. Sea--Brandon Morrow 6. Det--Clayton Kershaw (but this is the first possible stop for Andrew Miller, too) 7. LAD--Bryan Morris 8. Cin--Drew Stubbs 9. Bal--Billy Rowell 10. SF--Daniel Bard
  5. If the steroid rumors turn out to be true, I'd be much more worried with TJ than with his rotator cuff.
  6. This is falling the Cubs' way so far. Maybe Rowell, Snider, Miller, Scherzer, and Lincecum will all still be there when the Cubs pick and then we can't screw it up! Wishful thinking, I know :(
  7. Well they gave the $4mil signing bonus that Hochevar wanted last year to Gordon, so if they feel comfortable giving out another $4mil bonus (assuming Hochevar's demands haven't changed much) I think he'll sign quickly.
  8. BA is saying the same thing in their blog Is the blog a premium thing now too? I'm on BA's website but I don't see it.
  9. Mayo is absolutely confident that the Royals will take Hochevar with the #1 overall selection.
  10. On the XM broadcast, they just said it was MLB.com radio so I'm assuming that the internet and xm feeds will be the same.
  11. Ok, then Snider it is I guess. The Nats are now on the clock.
  12. I can update the first post with the picks as they are made (though I might have to go a bit after the first round) but I'm ty pretsure there will be someone who will post the picks faster than me since my connection isn't the best. I guess we can do a combination of both...list the picks at the top for those who are lazy, and post them further down and discuss them as we go along.
  13. Well it has been 12 hours, and 3 players have one vote apiece so who is the official selection?
  14. CR, are you going to update it as the picks are made or is this going to be like a running list that is edited every once in awhile?
  15. He was ranked #42 by BA on May 25th, so somehow, he's gone up the draftboard. He had a mediocre senior season and was hampered by leg injuries. He's a five-tool SS, though, comparable to Bobby Crosby or JJ Hardy. He has good bat speed and a good feel for the strike zone, but he needs to make changes to his swing and approach at the plate. Solid runner and solid defensively. Definitely not someone I want to see the Cubs pick, especially with Snyder, Chamberlain, Scherzer and Jeffress still on the board. I really hope that we don't take a college pitcher in the first round. We've already got good pitching depth, and taking another top pitcher would only further complicate the issue. With the way the bats have gone lately in our system, I'd much rather see us address that need. I want the BPA, no matter the position. The player is still at least a year away and who knows what will happen to the Cubs pitching staff with Maddux and Wood in their walk years. I can see where you're coming from. The thing that troubles me is that if we draft a guy like Chamberlain or Scherzer and sign him quickly, where will he go? Would they jump him all the way to AA and take away a spot from someone like Sean Gallagher? If it is a HS arm I'd be a little bit less concerned because they'd probably be sent to Arizona or Boise this year anyway.
  16. I don't get why the Cubs would do that. He's pretty much a lock to stay with football right? I could see a team with lots of picks taking their chances on a guy like this, but when you have only two picks in 5 rounds why waste one on a guy that's not going to play baseball? Perhaps he's not a lock to stay with football. At this point, he's the top-rated senior WR in the draft; even ahead of guys like USC's Steve Smith, Washington State's Jason Hill, and TTU's Jarett Hicks. I've seen a few mock drafts projecting him into the top 10 picks. I really can't see him leaving football right now. That doesn't take into account juniors - Dwayne Jarrett (USC) and Calvin Johnson (Georgia Tech) should go ahead of Smardzja - Teddy Ginn (Ohio State) might too. I don't think Smardzja's a top-10 pick next April. Very true, he is probably the 3rd best behind Jarrett and Johnson. He'll have the best QB of the 3 though, and will have better pieces around him IMO. If he goes crazy this year I think he's easily top 10; even if he has about an average year I have a hard time seeing him fall out of the top 12-15 range where he'd still get more money they in the MLB draft. Guys that are 6'5", fast, and can catch are rather rare and are highly rewarded in the NFL.
  17. CR, do you know if the XM feed and MLB.com radio feed will be the same? No sense it slowing down my comp if I can listen to it on XM instead.

  20. The draft starts at 1pm ET/12 CT. You can follow the picks through MLB.com's draft tracker for the entire draft. I'm not totally sure, but ESPN and CBS sportsline may have updates through the 1st round or so. There should also be a free, live radio feed for the draft as well which will be the quickest way to follow the draft.
  21. The KC Star just published an article online stating that Miller is looking for a ML contract with a signing bonues of $6-8+ mil. They're also saying that it is highly likely that the Royals will select 7-8 college pitchers with their first 10 selections. Btw, here is a link to the story if anyone wants to read through it.
