  1. How in the heck is Brownlie on that list? I know he was considered talented at the time we took him, but I don't have enough fingers to count how many people below him on that list I'd take instead of him.
  2. That is a bit concerning but he's still hit a decent about of doubles and triples though. I haven't ever seen him play so it his kind of hard to comment; maybe he's got more of a linedrive stroke so even though he's hitting the balls hard enough, they just don't have enough height to make it over the walls? Also, I just remember that TT posted splits of some of our prospects and that Pie was having problems with righties. Since he's facing so many more RHP, that could explain some of his problems.
  3. I think right now his numbers are staying decent because of his hot start, but it's hiding a problem that has taken hold recently. I hope it is just a cold streak, but they've taken him out of the leadoff spot (probably not his natural spot anyways) and dropped him down into 7th and then he recently moved back into the #2 spot. In June he's only hitting .256 (10/39) with only 3RBI and 4 runs scored. He's only had 4 XBH (3 doubles and 1 HR) with a K/BB ratio or 11/4. Hopefully I'm just over reacting, but it really seems like the further we get into the season the less patient he becomes.
  4. I know that up to this point he's been a very mature, yet raw player. Now he's only one step below the majors. Juan Pierre is the only person really blocking him and he's struggling horribly. Does anyone think that Pie is pressing trying to show the Cubs' brass that he's capable of atleast doing better than Pierre is doing right now? Up until this point in his career he's been able to make a little bit more contact and be atleast slightly more patient at the plate. I know he's facing a much tougher level of competition this year but I atleast makes me wonder.
  5. Any mention of how Carter's defense has been in the OF? I know someone (maybe you) had mentioned that he looked terrible when I first came up from Arizona; has he adjusted any or is his play still pretty rough?
  6. Same with MiLB.com But he's gone 2 and 1/3 tonight and given up 1 er... and gotten a hit. Same for me, I hadn't noticed his name until he came into the game tonight so that's why I brought this up. It'd be nice to have another young bullpen arm ready at Iowa seeing how most of the recent ones have fared.
  7. I did mention this in one of the draft day threads, thanks for the breakdown craig.
  8. Does anyone know anything about Jon Mueller? I see that he was a 16th round draft pick last year out of Butler College. He's only 22 and he's pitching in AAA already, does he have much of a future?
  9. Iowa is down 13-2 now in the top of the 5th. Hoffpauir hit a 2-run shot in the 4th for Iowa's only 2 runs. Walrond went 3.2IP 13H 13ER 3/1 K/BB 2HR allowed.
  10. Walrond is getting crushed in NO. Right now the I-Cubs are down 10-0 after 3; right now his line is 3IP 9H 10ER 3/1 K/BB and 1HR allowed. He's faced 19 batters so far too.
  11. The D-Jaxx are up 8-0 through 5. Wells is still in the game; his line so far is 6IP 4H 4/1 K/BB and his era is down to 0.99. Walker and Negron both have multi hit game, and Dopirak is also 1-2 with 2 runs scored.
  12. And if WGN is doing the game on Xm, you can get it through there as well.
  13. Well since they've got a new GM, I've heard that a Billy Butler and Alex Gordon for A-Ram and Hill deal is in the works...we can dream can't we?
  14. That sucks! Was the 3B sliding back to the back to try and nail him or what? I'm glad to here that he bounced back quickly though, lets go get a dope slap!
  15. In today's game Colvin was 2-4 with 2 runs, Smith was 0-3 with 1 run and 1 error.
  16. Your link is broken, but I assume that you're talking about Paul O'neill? Physical wise, Colvin does have a little bit of young O'Neill in him but I think it is much too early to be comparing them in terms of talent.
  17. I only want Bonds if he joins Hoffa within 3 days of his arrival.
  18. I'll put up $500 to come in as a minority partner!
  19. I can see what you're talking about but I think it can be easily fixed. It seems to me that alot of his problems start with his setup at the plate. He's holding his bat pretty far back and high as well so he's got his front arm rather stretched. In the picture you posted all he's really done with his upper body is slide his hands down a little bit. I think that his setup is also hampering his power, because he can't use his tri's to really drive into the ball when his arm is locked like that.
  20. It's far easier to handle an inside pitch with an aluminum bat compared to a wood bat. (Didn't see Tyler play today so I can't comment on anything else.) True, they really didn't throw much inside to him though. The report on him seemed to be he's vulnerable to breaking pitches low and away. Before the GS in the 9th, he had several groundouts to the 2B where he had rolled over on an outside pitch.
  21. His swing was rather long, but I think that can be easily correctable. Also, today he didn't seem to have many problems with the inside pitch; he was having much more problems rolling over outside breaking pitches IMO. He's still raw but he's also young and quite projectable. I was also really encouraged by the play of Smith as well today. His swing definately needs some work, but his glove and arm over at 3B was pretty good. He's only 21 and this was his first year at a major college program so I think he's still got alot of room to improve as well if he signs.
  22. Is Huber still a better prospect than Buck, or is he going to move out from behind the plate. I am pretty sure he already has. Sounds like he may not have the defense to stick anywhere from what I have gathered. Think 1b/dh Yeah, that's what I've gathered too. That is a problem too, I have seen Wichita a few times this year and Butler falls into the same catergory. Alex Gordon should be the All Star rep for the Royals right now. If Guillen had any balls he would select him from there team. Really? I haven't seen anything but highlight from when he's played against the Rockhounds and he seems atleast average in the field. Going through his stats he's only made 4 errors this year and he seems to be playing RF every night.
  23. He'll ground out, if there is only 1 out it will be a double play.
  24. Prior gave up a 3 run shot with 2 outs in the 1st inning...it can only go up from there hopefully.
  25. Aaron Hill is another Wilken draftee as well I do believe. Other pretty good names off that list are Kotchman, Greene, and Bray.
