  1. The IU women eliminated the 1st 1 seed and are in the Elite 8 for the first time in school history! Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk
  2. Exactly what they should do at this point. They can't go into the season with a 36 year old and a 3rd round pick in the QB room. Darnold at least gives you a young option with potential. He also doesn't kill the cap space. A bonus is that there was a rumor that Seattle actually likes him, so if they haven't completely closed the door on Wilson, having Darnold could be the piece that gets them over the top in the off chance that Wilson and Carroll figure out they can't co-exist over the next month.

Not sure how I feel about Theis for Wagner. This is probably better right now, but I don't see a ton of minutes either way with Vooch, Thad, PWill, and Lauri at the 4-5. Id rather keep the younger guy as depth. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk

How does NSBB feel about this trade? I don't follow the NBA that close these days. I like it. He's a scorer (24.5 per game) that will take some pressure off of LaVine. A little older than I'd like, but I think this makes the Bulls a playoff team this year, which means the picks won't be lottery picks. They are still after Lonzo, and if they can pull that off, I'll feel really good about this team. While, i would be interested in Vuc and Lauri together, I think a lineup of Lonzo, LaVine, Williams, Vucevic, and whoever at the 3/4 with Coby off the bench would be solid.
  7. So, the Bears signed former Chiefs RB, Damien Williams to a 1-year deal today. Pretty good signing. He opted out this past season, but could have easily been Superbowl MVP the last time he stepped onto the field (if it wasn't a QB only award). Turns 29 beginning of next month, but a really solid RB2 to Montgomery if he goes down again.
  8. Counting on the pass rush to do the coverages work for them? a steady pass rush is the coverage's best friend A pass rush makes the coverage job easier. You know you don't have to cover for 5 seconds and don't have to really worry about double moves, so you can jump on the first break more aggressively. But the way the NFL is evolving, there's really no such thing as a consistent pass rush (Bucs in SB notwithstanding). I think having guys that can cover is getting more important each season. The last few years, we've seen guys like Jalen Ramsey and Stephon Gilmore (among others) take away team's top WRs and have just as much impact as guys like Mack and Donald. You can get multiple guys dominating to get a pass rush, but typically don't have multiple guys in the secondary that can dominate in coverage. Then again, we saw the Legion of Boom lead a team to a championship in the not too distant past.
  9. Bears signed Jeremiah Attaochu, in a move I really like. Good situational pass rusher who had a really productive 2nd half of the season. Better pass rusher than Mingo, but Mingo was really good vs the run last year. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk
  10. Not a fan of keeping Hicks over Fuller. Hicks is 2 1/2 years older, and a 330 pounder, who has missed 9 games the last 2 years.
  11. Yeah, I'm aware. That doesn't mean he's right. Nor does it make it a wise move. Though, getting 2 3rd round comp picks if both sign elsewhere would be phenomenal. As far as whether its smart or not, okay. Whether Biggs has good info? Pretty likely. He's usually solid when he reports. The info that they plan to play Golladay with Robinson came out yesterday. At the point it came out yesterday, Robinson had yet to sign the tag. The info could have been put out there so Robinson wouldn't rush to sign the tag (thinking he was part of a tandem instead of being replaced), and they could hedge their bets and rescind it if they got Golladay. Maybe I shouldn't have said "doesn't mean he's right" and should have said, "doesn't mean that's in stone". It honestly doesn't make much sense as both are X WRs, and Mooney is the (potential) long-term answer at Z. One of the 3 would move to the slot full-time, which probably isn't ideal for any of them.
  12. Biggs had already claimed their plan is to pair them. Yeah, I'm aware. That doesn't mean he's right. Nor does it make it a wise move. Though, getting 2 3rd round comp picks if both sign elsewhere would be phenomenal.
  13. There's no way I would pay 30Mil (Arob 18, KG 12) to the WR position, even if just for 1 year. This has to mean trade for Robinson if Golladay signs that offer. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk
  14. I understand cost was a concern and Trufant is on a 1-year deal, but it was said in this thread that not extending or cutting a 30-year old CB is a wise move (paraphrasing). Trufant will turn 31 early in the season. Fuller is 29 until after the 2021 season. So, the Bears actually got a year and a half older at the CB position.
  15. That is what I was saying yesterday. It could be that the focus is on the Bears fixing the QB/offense. They don't need to win more games, they need to score more points. So go all in with offense, sign and draft QBs, acquire more skill position guys, do whatever you can to score more points in 2021. If you create a real offense, then go patch up the defense next. Like I said, getting rid of Fuller and/or Hicks is fine on the surface. It's logical. It makes sense. The issue is "going all in with offense" so far is Andy Dalton and Germain Ifedi. They are literally NO better on offense right now, and are down 2 roster spots and 10M in 2021 cap. Dalton was worse than Trubisky and Foles. Ifedi was already a 16-game starter on a below average OL. I know Andy Dalton isn't the end game here. But even if they get Golladay to sign here, Golladay, Robinson, Mooney, Graham, Kmet, Cohen, Montgomery isn't like to score enough with Dalton, a still bad OL, and Nagy as coach/playcaller. And at this point, the Bears are either going to upgrade at tackle or at QB, probably not both, especially if they end up with Golladay. They are either going to somehow still get Wilson/Watson and then not have a draft pick for OT. Or they are going to move up in the draft for a QB, and not have a pick for OT. Or they are going to get an OT in the draft and roll with Dalton. The only way this ends in an offense that scores more points is if they get Wilson/Watson or if they decide to cut Leno, get a cheap improvement at OT and the rookie QB comes in and is great. Maybe an outside shot if they get Golladay and trade Robinson for draft picks good enough to get everything they want, but then WR is a lateral difference from last year.
  16. Yea Rapaport threw it out I think. Of Shefter. One of them. I guess that occassionally happens though they coined it "almost nothing" as the return. But I guess if it kept him out of the NFC and the North specifically, it's worth it. Do it for like a 5th to 4th pick swap. It happened 2 days ago for Rodney Hudson of the Raiders. The team that got him gave up a 2nd or 3rd, IIRC.
  17. I didn't say anything about a "top CB". And obviously now with 11M they can sign a starter or maybe even 2 at another position of need, which then allows them to go CB early in the draft again. But they obviously need a "starting caliber" CB. You don't cut a starting caliber player without adding another starting caliber player. Like I said, sure they can get a guy or two still, but they aren't likely to get them at the most needed positions. The Bears 36 hours ago had HUGE needs at QB and tackle. The only other starter they lost was at SS. They signed players at all 3 of those positions, but still have holes there. Cutting Fuller creates another hole at CB. They obviously aren't going to use the space on another QB. If they are going to use it on a tackle, then makes more sense to cut Leno, since they already re-signed Ifedi to presumably start at RT. They already signed 2 DL, so they could have cut Hicks (which they still may do) which saves just as much as cutting Fuller. I just don't know why at this point we aren't assuming there was a massive failure to plan accordingly with Pace. I guess I don't know why him being released now is an indication of a failure to plan. I'm still failing to follow what the lost opportunity cost is of not acting a week ago or even 3 days ago. I mean it's not just this one move. This all feels like a fire drill to me. It certainly feels like Pace wasn't prepared for a world where he didn't have Russell Wilson on his roster. I'm guessing Fuller was involved in the trade, which then it would make sense why he wasn't cut 3 days ago or whatever. I don't know what Pace is doing or even trying to do. But right now it feels like it was Wilson or rebuild. Opportunity cost of not cutting Fuller sooner may be not needing to push money from Jackson, Whitehair or Mack down the line. Those restructures look bad if they are starting a rebuild, as all will be committed to the team an extra year now with restructuring. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk
  18. If the QB he moves up for is the guy, it won't matter. I don't see an issue with this. Of course, I also think Justin Fields and Trey Lance (possible trade up targets) are as talented and have more upside than any QB potentially in the 2022 draft.
  19. Cutting him a week ago gives you a shot at the FA CB market. They've signed 2 DL to replace Hicks cheaply. They probably can't truly replace Fuller's production on the cheap unless it's thru the draft, but they still are at a spot where they need to take OT and QB early. Spending another early pick on defense seems counterproductive for a team that's trying to balance offensive and defensive assets/costs, when there aren't any fewer holes on offense than there was last season. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk Were like 36 hours into the official league period though. They had a chance to be active in the CB market. Maybe there was some massive failure on Paces part to plan accordingly, but if you're cutting Fuller you're not replacing him with a top CB. And perusing the FA tracker lists, seems there's still quite a bit out there. I didn't say anything about a "top CB". And obviously now with 11M they can sign a starter or maybe even 2 at another position of need, which then allows them to go CB early in the draft again. 20. What does cutting Fuller a week ago do? Really the only question is when the workout bonus was due. That's your effective deadline to make a decision and not sink 500k. To me you do everything you can to wait until that deadline. Okay maybe there are some "good faith" considerations about not ducking guys around, but it's a little odd they are letting Hicks seek a trade and just cutting Fuller. I don't get that. Cutting him a week ago gives you a shot at the FA CB market. They've signed 2 DL to replace Hicks cheaply. They probably can't truly replace Fuller's production on the cheap unless it's thru the draft, but they still are at a spot where they need to take OT and QB early. 21. Another issue I have with the Fuller cut is again, the timing. You had all off-season to work this out, if he wouldn't take a paycut, couldve cut him a week ago. Also doesn't help that I wanted Troy Hill from LA RAMS who signed today for 4/24 with the Browns. Also, I really don't like Jaylon Johnson's shoulder. Seems like a chronic issue and I can see him missing time again thru his rookie contract. Sent from my SM-A115AZ using Tapatalk
  22. No, probably not but it still should be weighed against cap savings. The dead cap doesn't factor into savings. It's just an issue of timing. The savings is the base salary ($13M) Yeah, I know how it works. I guess my issue is eating 9M to save 11M. I mean, I guess it's better than eating the entire 20M. But if you get a starting caliber CB, you're going to spend 8-10M on one.....so still allocating 19-20Mil of the cap on the CB1.
  23. Exactly. Cutting Fuller, in and of itself, isn't terrible. Cutting Fuller, and paying him 9M in dead cap space, so you can fit Andy Dalton and Germain Ifedi under the cap isn't great......especially when adding Foles and Quinn is a big part of the reason Allen Robinson isn't signed long-term. The dead space should never be a consideration IMO. No, probably not but it still should be weighed against cap savings.
  24. LOL. Robinson signed the tag so it doesn't get rescinded since the Bears are looking at Kenny Golladay. Smart move TBH, with the way the WR FA market has gone so far.
  25. They are but this team has too many other holes and too little cap space to easily replace him. And there were more obvious cuts (Graham, Hicks).
