His interception was a really good play too. Yes, Zappe held it way too long before making the throw, but he was in pretty good coverage and made a good play on the ball. Gordon basically refused to score a TD on that one. He certainly could have outrun everyone down the sidelines if he wanted to. I thought that was odd, but he was tired and the game was over at that point.

Fun fact, Sam Mustipher has started the most consecutive games of any Chicago Bear with 30! That streak comes to an end tonight.
-
This is the first game I really haven't thought about at all. Haven't had any nerves about it. No expectations of what I want to see from Fields. Haven't put any thought into what the Bears need to do to win this game. Just no thoughts about. I'm guessing it's more because of the long layoff.

I feel like Fields isn't a terrible fantasy option. 47 rushing yards or more in 4 straight games. I mean, if you're starting 2 QBs, he's in the top 24. I have a league where Tom Brady is my QB1 and Mariota QB2. I'm hoping I can get Tua on waivers....that's how bad my team is. **Though I did score the 2nd most points this week and lose by 3.5 points (thanks to 2 late INTs for the Miami D, effing Kenny Pickett)** He's actually QB24 for the season in my league, so basically the lowest possible QB2 you can start in my league (though skewed by other QBs ahead f him having 7 games played). His point totals by week: 18, 9, 5, 10, 19, 20. The problem is that its a 6pt passing TD league and he only has 4 this year, so when comparing him to other QBs who actually throw TDs he looks worse off. The running obviously helps salvage a lot of his performances but he's not getting a lot of rushing TDs either. As for tonight, the Patriots under BB have historically struggled to contain running QBs. However, I think they are going to sell out to contain him knowing that he won't beat them consistently with his arm. If that happens, it might be tough for him to get a ton of points tonight. Ah yeah, that 6 pt passing TD isn't Fields friendly. I believe that I've read that Patriots historically struggle against running QBs, though. Edit: Lamar put up 107 on the ground against them this year.

Obviously you have stars on every other slot on the roster. It's a superflex league and 6 of my top 8 players are on bye or have been injured recently (Jefferson, AJ Brown, Miles Sanders, Patterson, Javonte, Penny). But cant use that excuse for QB, I gambled on Fields before the season as my QB2 and it has not worked out and a better option hasn't come around due to how deep the league is. Trade Quinn, Montgomery (if not re-signing him), Smith (if not re-signing him), Reiff, whoever. Even 1 of those trades gets you to the top right quadrant. Trade them all and get in the top right corner by yourself. #PolesLeague

I'd be more excited about the McCaffery trade if Lance was still the QB. I still think Jimmy G puts a cap on that offense's ceiling and I don't know if it's still good enough to go into Philly and beat that team. And I don't trust McCaffery to stay healthy for all 17 games. Would be quite interesting though if Jimmy G does get them over the hump and they actually do get to and win the Superbowl. Expiring contract for Jimmy with Lance still with 2-3 years left on a rookie deal and by the start of next season, he will have thrown 132 pass attempts from January 2019 thru September 2023.
-
Price is probably too high anyway. He was just a 2nd round pick last year, so probably would take at least a 3rd. And probably not worth a 3rd since he's not what I'd consider "proven".
-
Still has never scored a TD in the league. Now 27 career catches.
-
100% have to trade him. I won't really fault Poles for not trading him before the season. If he wasn't getting a good enough package for him, it didn't make sense to take a competent player off the team for less than ideal draft capital in return. It sucks that he has sleepwalked thru 6 games so far, but he also slept thru 2020 and came back to provide a ton of value last year. That alone makes him viable to a contender. They know he still has that potential to have a huge stretch for a contender down the stretch. But at this point, the only options at this point are: 1) Quinn stays the season, continues to do nothing, gets cut in March and goes to another team for nothing but cap relief. 2) Quinn stays the season, somehow finds motivation in a lost rebuilding season and builds up trade value in March You can't gamble on 2. And even if 2 does happen, you can't assume a team would take him with an even higher cap hit next year and a year older. Trade him now. Get something for him now. Anything is better than nothing in March. Plus, a 2023 picks gets them back to a full allotment of 7 picks and potential to move around more with one of these rumored WRs on the market. Like if you can get a 5th for Quinn, I'd certainly trade up to a 3rd for a guy like Claypool or Jeudy.
-
Good player. Moves the needle for sure at WR, but probably on a "more than healthy Pringle" level than on a Tyreke Hill, Stefon Diggs or AJ Brown level of players who have helped QBs make huge jumps in 1 offseason. Definitely have to pair with a very high pick at WR.
-
The more he talks about how good a team is, the worst they actually are. This might be a record long for Belichick.

Not really debating how good Brown is. He's not really a fit, if you listen to Poles. And I'd rather pay Jenkins whatever he wants vs. what I already know what Brown wants because he already turned down a deal. I am also not a big fan of Bresee, especially not as high as the Bears will be picking. He's not a top 5 talent, IMO. If picking 6-10, I'm taking WR/OL over him unless someone else is there I don't expect. 10-16, I think is prime WR territory so I'd almost certainly go WR over him as well, whether I have a WR rated higher or not. I worry about his quickness, he also tore his ACL so weary about that. And he's also not a stud run defender like Jordan Jenkins. I'd probably not take him until the 20s, even if I was dead set on DT. I don't see this top 10 prospect that most have him ranked as. Do you think Bresee will lasts to the 2nd or 3rd? There are several DTs listed as having that draft grade. Is it a DT rich draft? No, I think he actually goes top 10-15. He has the size, the talent (5-star recruit, #1 overall by some), he has leadership and has been thru a lot (little sister just died a few weeks ago). He will get drafted very high. But I don't think the production has matched the talent. And I wonder if he's not lacking a little bit athletically. It's a really good DT draft. You'll have Georgia with another top 5 pick (I'd strongly consider Jalen Carter if he's there whenever the Bears pick), Bresee probably top 15. Then a Vita Vea type later in the 1st, and overall about 10-11 guys that should go in the first 3 rounds.

I feel like his processing would speed up if he really knew the playbook. Making the reads and getting his eyes to the right place seem more like he's able to read coverages and know what the defense is trying to do to him (this is good). But yeah, that "there it is, throw the ball" difficulty seems more like he's not completely comfortable with the playbook (maybe not sure if the receiver should sit down or will keep going). So, my interpretation is this is good news? Of course, that's what I want it to be as well. But the biggest concern is that nothing seems to be consistent. Sometimes he's anticipating, sometimes he's firing the ball to players out of breaks. His 15+ yard accuracy is amazing, but short is bad. I just he had something that we could consistently look at and say, "see, he's getting it". Maybe the presnap reads and eyes are it.

Interesting. Montgomery/Herbert are literally taking turns having strong games. And when both are healthy, they stick to a pretty strict plan of Herbert every 3rd drive. Week 1- Herbert 9-45, Monty 17-26 Week 2- Monty 15-122, Herbert 4-38 Week 3- Herbert 20-157, Monty 3-11 (injured this game) Week 4- Montgomery hurt Week 5- Monty 12-20 (4 catches, 62 yards), Herbert 4-11 Week 6- Herbert 7-75, Monty 15-67 But this smells like not committing to Montgomery and I wonder if potential trade talks happen soon.

Maybe Fuller doesn't check the speed box for Poles? Don't believe he checks the size box. At this point Fields needs someone who can just catch the horsefeathering ball, screw size or speed. I'm pretty sure he was a 4.3 guy when he was drafted. He has plenty speed.
-
Yeah, it makes no sense why Fuller isn't signed. At this point, he has to just want to play. Can't be waiting on a certain dollar amount, can't wait on a contender. He needs to be on the field trying to pull a contract for next season. If he doesn't play this year, I'd think he might be done. And he's too good to be out of the league already.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting. There's some guys that could be traded (Jeudy, Higgins, Claypool) who are in similar boats as the guys traded last year. They will want new deals and have expensive/or soon to be expensive QBs or other expensive WRs on their teams. But the issue here is if they extend Mooney, now you have 2 expensive WRs on the team. Which is fine because they have the space, but 40Mil AAV in WRs who's contracts are up about the same time is probably a bit much. If those guys hit the trade market I think they would go in the sub 1st round pick compensation. It's possible that the initial market moved off on paying guys the $25M price and dumped them for first rounders, but that there is still a market of teams who will move off the 15-18M type players and move them for like a third. Higgins is the real interesting one. Pretty cheap franchise that knows its gonna have to dig deep for Chase and Burrow. But he probably goes for the most of those guys listed. Yeah, I also see them most interested in a big WR. Getsy had all 6'3"+ WRs in Green Bay (other than Rodgers' handpicked boy Cobb) and Mooney's lack of size was a big issue in the loss Thursday. They traded for Harry. They clearly want to be bigger on the outside (makes not drafting Pickens even weirder). So, if they really like Smith-Ngjiba, Jordan Addison or Kayshon Boutte in the draft, they may go after size in free agency or trade.

Trading down could really put the Bears in a great position. Houston, Seattle and Detroit all have 2 firsts and could want a QB. Washington should actually draft one and will likely pick behind the Bears due to Thursdays win. NYG certainly could make a big move up, Jones is a FA and they look ready to compete everywhere else but WR (mainly because of the multiple 1sts they've had recently). If Stroud or Young are on the board (probably have to pick top 3), then I think you'd see a package similar to the 49ers. They are elite prospects. If talking about QB3, then closer to the Eagles package (maybe minus that 2nd). Either way allows the Bears to get multiple high end talents over the next 1-2 drafts. I've never been more pro trading down than I am potentially in this draft.

I think I gave my thoughts on this. Jones- handpicked by GM, "won" starting LT job as a 5th round rookie. Theoretically, should improve as the year goes on. Don't see any chance he's benched this year if healthy. And don't see any chance he's benched next year if he keeps showing promise the rest of this year. Borom- has actually been better than Jones so far, but is upgradeable. Upside similar to Jones but he was picked 1 year earlier and NOT by this regime. Jenkins- is the key. They seem to hate or be trying to motivate him. He's been the best OL at RG. Wonder if he should have ever been moved off of RT. He's been fine there whenever he's played outside of maybe his 1st game after back surgery. That's why I like signing a guy like Elgton Jenkins. He's played LT, LG, RG, RT for the Packers, I'm pretty sure. Add him, add an elite guard prospect or FA and let Jones, Borom and Jenkins compete for 2 spots. LT- E Jenkins/Jones LG- Draft pick/FA C- Patrick (don't think he's cut, think they justify this by saying, "oh this is what we brought him here to play but his hand changed plans!") RG- E Jenkins/T Jenkins RT- Borom/T Jenkins/ E Jenkins/ Jones Jones wins LT, Elgton to RT where he's been most recently in GB. Teven stays at RG. Jones doesn't cut it, Elgton to LT, competition for RT. Teven proves himself enough to go back to his natural RT position, Elgton is an elite guard. Borom likely is swing tackle. Have those drafted guys as backups.

Everyone loves Brown, but my issues with him are: A) he's not that good B) Poles mentioned wanting athletic linemen. He is perhaps the most unathletic lineman there has ever been (based on combine numbers). C) he's looking to be among the highest paid LTs in the league. He turned down a deal that would put him in the top 5 LTs and top 3 RTs. He's not a LT to me and he's not one of the 3 best on the right side either. Not that players get paid based on that, but I don't want Brown if there are cheaper options that fit better (you named 2 much better ones). Brown would still be better then every other option we have. side note, if Bresee is there when the Bears draft do we take him? I think I would if we could get some OL help in FA, and there was a good amount of WR talent available in the 2nd this year. I dont know how the draft looks for WR's. Not really debating how good Brown is. He's not really a fit, if you listen to Poles. That's a good point. But yeah, Quinn and Whitehair are gone to me. Keep Jackson. I'd re-sign Montgomery and tag Roquan. Extend Mooney and Jaylon Johnson. They have to spend on OL and WR and probably pretty big on OL at least (nobody really worth spending on at WR). But they can justify spending some on the DL as well, replacing Quinn and severely upgrading DT would be a need. Brown (KC), Conklin (CLE), and Jenkins (GB) all make sense as far as possible o-line upgrades. Payne (DT) from Washington could also make sense Everyone loves Brown, but my issues with him are: A) he's not that good B) Poles mentioned wanting athletic linemen. It's definitely broken. Gamblers, I'm sure are losing money this year. Some wild results so far. Falcons 3-3, but 6-0 ATS Vikings are 5-1, but 2-4 ATS WTF is San Francisco? 3-3, losses to the Bears, Falcons and Broncos? Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are mediocre QBs now. Russell Wilson is terrible, while Geno Smith is the best QB in passer rating Jonathan Taylor's team leads the league in passing attempts
