  1. 2-3 against one of the toughest pitchers in the league.
  2. Thankfully, the Marlins aren't sending runners from 3rd.
  3. Don't need him? There's more baseball being played outside of 2016. The Cubs are facing 2017 without Fowler, with uncertainty around Schwarber, unproven Almora, and underachieving Heyward. Granted Soler isn't guaranteed to do anything either, but he's more proven than the Schwarbs and Almora at this point. Granted, you can keep Bryant in the OF, but then you're putting Baez out there everyday, which also is not confidence inspiring at this point. That being said, I don't think trading Soler would necessarily be terrible for the current Cubs or necessarily hurt them too much in the future. But I think the key point is what are they trading Soler for? You aren't trading him for another OF, that would be pointless. You aren't trading him for a starter and demoting either Hendricks or Hammel, who have shown no reason to do that and have been better than likely anyone you'd be trading for. So, you're talking about a bullpen arm. Do you really want to trade Soler for a relief pitcher? No matter how good that reliever is, that's going to be poor value for a starting caliber corner OF.
  4. That list is not very inspiring. The bad news is that those guys won't get you much help. Of course, the good news is, this team doesn't need much help. I wonder how much the Cubs will "go for it". On one hand, this team is in the playoffs as is. They can use the minor leaguers to get the best reliever(s) they can find. On the other, the Giants are right on their heels for the top seed in the NL, meaning the Cubs could potentially have to go thru both the Giants and Nationals in the playoffs (as opposed to those 2 playing each other in the NLDS). If the Cubs really want to go for it, I could see them giving up Soler and/or Almora but I'm not sure what they'd even go for as they don't really need another starter. So, I don't see them going big at the deadline.
  5. Good lineup. I like sitting Baez and Almora, two guys that would likely flail against Fernandez unsuccessfully. Also, I think it's the all caps, but every time I see Willson spelled on the lineup scoreboard, my first thought is "typo" even though I have long known about the 2Ls.
  6. He has barely seen 3 of them pitch. His lack of confidence is more from Edwards, Concepcion and Patton not being in the majors that long rather than him actually throwing them out there to see them struggle.
  7. No way Lackey should have faced Stanton.
  8. Minors portion of Rule 5 draft.
  9. I mean, I KNOW how much talent this organization has. But I'm still amazed by it every day. I mean, a team that is setting offensive records just throws a guy from the minors in the cleanup spot and doesn't skip a beat. The injured Cubs offense could probably win a wild card.
  10. 6...Fowler, Zobrist, Rizzo, Montero, Schwarber, Soler 7 Arrieta
  11. [tweet] [/tweet]Hahaha. That's awesome. I love this guy. When is his sheersy set to release? I think I'll get his to match my Bryant one. Heading to Pittsburgh July 9th (saturday) Cubs game. Anyone else going to be there by chance? I'm either going Saturday or Sunday. Looks like I'm leaning toward Sunday, though.
  12. Zobrist x-rays negative. Probably not playing tomorrow. Hopefully, Rizzo can go or else the Cubs will play w./ a 1 man bench.
  13. Took a pitch off the shin. Stayed in to run the bases, so I doubt it's serious. At this point it doesn't matter if it's serious. Can barely field a team tomorrow if he, Rizzo and Montero can't go.
  14. Uh, pretty much the same place. He's only started 3 other games, all losses. And his PH HR was in a 10-5 win.
  15. Hendricks gave up 1 hit and 0 ERs. The Cubs got 6 hits in a row in the 1st inning. And it's a tie game.

  17. The problem is, there hasn't been an upset in the last 6 years in the East. LeBron goes to the finals. You can even extend that to the Celtics before that too if you want. You can't say anything can happen when anything hasn't happened in a decade. And yes, the Cavs are a thing and will be for the forseeable future, which is the point of not being good without being great.
  18. Kind of a do everything guy. Can shoot, pass, defend some. Doesn't have the elite athleticism (bad knees) to create his own shot whenever he wants it. Probably similar to a bigger (better rebounding) Hinrich back when he was decent.
  19. If you take out the 25-6 start and the 10-1 stretch, the Cubs are 12-17. If you take out all their wins, they are 0-24.
