  1. I mean, it's no more shackling than Minshew would be. In fact, one could argue it's less of a shackle to stay with Fields and his 3.23M cash amount in 2024, (if you decline his 5th year option) than it would be to get Gardner Minshew, who certainly would want a significant pay raise from his 3.5M salary after starting 1 3 games, Also worth noting, Fields was better in every metric across the board, other than 0.8% completion percentage and QB wins, if you care about that sort of thing.
  2. I mostly agree with you. But why does it make sense to likely pay more to sign Minshew to play QB than stick with Fields?
  3. He's shown that it will be quick and accurate at times. But even if he's never better at processing than Fields is, he has a MUCH quicker release which makes being a tick late easier to overcome.
  4. Exactly! He was still a top 10 (mostly top 5) QB in every category. He was always going to have an impossible bar set for him after winning the Heisman as a sophomore. That's why only 1 person has won it twice, and nobody in the last 50 years has.
  5. So, I do think Fields has a HOF level ceiling. Before anyone kills me, he does have historic rushing ability and has shown it. If he can somehow continue to channel that without getting hurt and have all his flaws hidden by a pretty good deep ball, he could have that ceiling. The problem is, after 3 years, there's almost a 0 chance of him hitting anything near his ceiling. And nobody has run as much as him and stayed healthy or overcome flaws with a slow trigger to that level.
  6. Yes, 10th most 12 personnel, but not a big scheme TEs open type of playcaller. Maybe that would be different with a talent like Pitts and a solid weapon better than he's had at TE in Kmet, but in general, Waldron still likes to get the ball outside and down the field.
  7. Waldron probably got a huge edge for being a former playcaller for a defensive HC. Kubiak and Robinson were maybe more inspiring, but they don't have playcalling experience at the NFL level. After Getsy, it's no wonder they valued experience.

  9. 1.03 was just traded for last year. Texans gave up 1.12, a 2nd last year (33rd overall) and a future 1st and 3rd for 1.03 and a 4th rounder. In our wildest dreams, Fields has the value of a high 2nd and a future 3rd. Then there's still that future 1st. Granted, you would be giving them a pick 3 picks higher than the trade last year, but unless they absolutely adore Fields and hate every other QB after Williams and Maye, that doesn't seem like nearly enough in return for the Pats.
  10. I'd be OK with taking Carr back, they'd probably have to give up their 1st for that cap relief though, so IDK if the Saints would be good with that.
  11. Yeah, mostly speculation. But seems like he wanted to say more but didn't want to talk trash about the kid so he made it more about "he won't be happy with Bear football" type stuff. But the implication that he isn't a team first guy is there.
  12. There's been a couple whispers here and there that Caleb isn't much of a team guy. But if he's good, IDK if that really matters. Aaron Rodgers wasn't a team guy for years in GB. Story came out from their OC today that he would change the play so often that they didn't remember what the play was supposed to be. I've known a couple NFL players as well and I've heard stories about star players being "unapproachable" and not very team friendly.
  13. Former NFL QB, Brock Huard's brother, Luke, is the WR coach at USC. Brock says the Bears should "beware" of Caleb. Cited some stuff like he doesn't like the ball taken out of his hands, a personal ahead of team type guy.
  14. Seems like me and you are the only ones that would like Kingsbury. I don't see if happening, but very happy they interviewed, even if it's to get intel on Caleb with his WR coach's brother coming out and saying crap about him.
  15. I'd slot Roman between groveling to Luke Getsy and begging him to take his job back and sending Mike Martz a "hey big head" text.
  16. Lacking weapons has led to an 11-6 record and the divisional playoff round for KC. Chiefs aren't an argument that lacking weapons matters.
  17. Here's a good Twitter thread on taking a QB #1 over not taking a QB #1 https://x.com/DaveKluge/status/1747397129138479457?s=20
  18. Definitely not interested in Fields: BUF, NYJ, MIA, HOU, JAX, IND, CLE, CIN, BAL, KC, LAC, PHI, DAL, GB, MIN, DET, SF, ARZ Probably not interested in Fields: WAS (bc of having pick 2), TEN (Levis was decent enough), NYG (paying Jones), LAR (Stafford showed still some in tank), SEA (Geno can be cut, but makes more sense to draft and bridge Geno), TB (Baker will get re-signed), CAR (awkward, lol) That leaves: NE, PIT, LV, DEN, ATL, and NO as options. And Carr has a ton of dead money left so they are probably stuck with him.
  19. Steelers don't have much of a history of bold moves at QB like Fields would be. I think the Raiders are a decent fit. They have some pieces there in Adams, Meyers and Jacobs, assuming they re-sign him. They do still have a large cap hit for Jimmy G, but Fields isn't a big hit and they already benched Jimmy this year so that's obviously not a huge issue for them. I also like the thought of Fields playing indoors, make him that much faster, I guess. Other than that, Falcons, Patriots, and Broncos make sense as well.
  20. He had some solid highlight blocks, as opposed to Herbert who had 0 blocks at all. But overall, Johnson was not very good blocking from my eye test.
  21. The thing about the RB market, is you don't really have to pay guys that much. I think you can give a guy a 1-2 year deal and don't have to pay more than 12Mil AAV to get the top guys. I'm good with a late round RB as well, but I'd have no qualms about a short term deal for a RB in their late prime (27-29) if they are truly a difference maker. Foreman was a healthy scratch and was not happy about it.
  22. Exactly. I'd probably splurge for a top RB on the FA market, simply because the Bears need another weapon. They'll likely not spend on a big time WR, so you're likely counting on a rookie WR. It's a lot to expect a rookie to be your 2nd best offensive weapon even if he's a top 10 pick. Give me Saquon, Jacobs, Ekeler, or Pollard, if for nothing else for the underneath threat to open things down field and both RBs under contract (Herbert and Roschon) were horrible pass blocking.
  23. Teams are usually pretty good at not reaching top 5-10. I think those will be the top 3 picks, but I doubt they all go to the top 3 teams. There will be trades, especially with NE if they really want to go QB. Someone would willingly trade up for MHJr (Giants, Chargers, wouldn't hate the Bears doing it if the price is right). I'd imagine Daniels goes top 8, he put together a really solid season and there's QB needy teams all through the top 8. NE, NYG, and Atlanta could all take him, not to mention a team could trade up. A team like the Giants could take Daniels and sit him a year, which would probably be an ideal situation for him. As for Bowers, I almost look at him as the 4th WR in this class. He 100% can split out. In fact, he's more of an H-back, U TE, big slot than he is an inline TE like Kmet. I don't think he projects as a better blocker than Kmet, but Cole hasn't been as good as he can be blocking yet either. I think of Bowers like an Evan Engram type. Engram quietly had a 114 catch season this year, just under 1000 yards. He's not quite the Kelce height mismatch. He's not quite as big as Kittle. He's probably not as versatile as LaPorta. But I honestly think he's going to be close to Vernon Davis and his record TE athleticism. He's more explosive than Engram and he can block unlike Engram, though I prefer him as a move blocker rather than inline. I don't really see the Bears drafting Bowers. That being said, all the OCs they have interviewed really like 12 (2-TE) personnel, so they can definitely play Bowers and Kmet together. I just don't know if they would want to spend top 5 money and a top 10 pick on the same position.
  24. Yeah, that takes him off my draft board for sure
  25. I think I like Waldron the most, but Kubiak is a toss up 1B situation. Olson and Coen would be the same order for sure, but admittedly, I don't know much about Coen
