Oh Yeah!!!!! Now that's better. A message editing box that isn't nearly as tiny. Now that's what I'm talking about! I've change the text edit box for messages from tiny to a more reasonable size (15 lines and 35 characters wide to 25 lines and 50 characters wide).

This is more of an announcement: I will no longer be uploading custom avatars for non-premium users. I'll still do it for Premium users (though they can do it themselves, too). This is a question: With all the traffic on this site, it is expensive to maintain. For those that aren't contributing to the support of the site (non-premium users), would it be fair to limit the bandwidth they consume by not allowing signature images + avatars? I have mixed feelings on this one, so I'm open to arguments from both sides. (For those that are curious, the site has already consumed over 40 GB of bandwidth this month. Well over 90% of that is consumed by non-premium members.)

As promised...the "clean index" modification is gone. I wish there were a way to turn it on/off by individual user.

Okay then. Let's see... About 15 PM's and a couple of passionate posts later, it's clear. Bye bye collapsed index view! I'll make it go away ASAP this morning. (probably around 9:30).

Clicking on the category title will bring up the complete list of forums in that category, btw. Not sure I like this one...I need some feedback! I wish there were an easy way to turn it on and off.

This one might take some getting used to, but it could be a time saver... On a trial basis, this new mod hides any forum that doesn't have new posts. So the ones that don't get much traffic don't take up space on the screen. Only the forums (fora?) with activity show up on the index page.

Added tonight! All smileys now appear on the posting screen, so there's no need to hit the "see more smilies" link to get to the good ones!

I've also doubled the max signature length for premium members to 512 characters instead of 255.

Can you put a note in your sig about your previous name if you make a change? Thanks.

I'll have to check that out tonight. There appears to be a bug in the upload avatar code.

Both are accessed using the "Profile" link at the top of the page. Once there, to change your name go to the "Registering" tab of the profile screen and you can change your screen name (I only ask that you keep it clean and give us a clue who you are). To change whether or not you see sigs, go to the "Profile" tab, then click on "Profile Settings" on the left side, then on "Reading". There you'll be able to set whether you see avatars, signatures and images.

Now that Premium access is restricted, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a list of features that have been added to the Premium UI so that people could see what they get for their (paltry :) ) $5/month. As I continue to add things that are Premium-only, I'll keep this list updated. If I'm forgetting anything, please PM me with what I've left out. I found a way to have long text lines (like aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh) not stretch the screen so that a scroll bar becomes necessary. Premium users don't have to see the advertisements (and there's just going to be more and more in the regular forum. And those of you that are looking at them, please, click through and buy stuff! I'm trying to find interesting stuff to advertise, at least. :) ).
