  1. That pitch to strike out Baez was damn nasty.
  2. Top half went too quickly. Threw off my timing.
  3. There wasn't any coaching visit to the mound. Hale came out to contest the call that Bryant foul tipped the one ball. The other delay was when Beef hit Rizzo in the helmet while throwing the ball back to the mound. Butcher came out to the mound right after Bryant's double ah, must have been grabbing a cold one at that point
  4. La Stella dies on most of those do or die plays.
  5. Or maybe he's lost velocity and there's a classification problem. He's definitely lost velocity. I can buy the classification problem - perhaps it is a cutter that is getting classified as a slider. Another interesting note is that he's gone from throwing like 93% fastballs (going by memory from the page) down to about 80%.

  7. Yeah, I don't really get that one either. Other than Molina and the occasional annoying comment from Wainwright, I don't think I hate anyone on that team more than anyone else. Rats. Somehow blocked out Molina. Yeah, hate that guy the most.
  8. My strongest hate for this batch of Cards is reserved for Wainwright. He's just a sanctimonious POS.
  9. wow...Jake McGee making himself much more affordable this year. ---eta Just looked at his velocity to see if that's the issue: 2012: 95.5 2013: 96.1 2014: 96.4 2015: 94.4 2016: 93.4 Oddly, his slider has gotten faster to the point where there's only two mph separation between fastball and slider this year.
  10. I'm not refusing a trade veto. I'm suggesting there is room to talk about the structure of what that looks like. A majority vote makes a lot more sense to me than 2-3 guys raising their hands and objecting. Hell, you could get in a situation where Team A is competing with Teams B, C & D to make the playoffs. Team A makes a reasonable trade of future for current assets. Teams B, C & D all vote against it just because it makes Team A stronger. Such a low veto bar puts dangerous incentives in place. Make it a majority vote and I'm fine. And to be clear, I mean a majority of the people that bother to vote, not that nine people have to vote against a trade to veto it.
  11. sure looks like it clips it.
  12. Tim might have to put it on the front page. Here is a link, though: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/articles/cubs-articles/24-statcast-fun-with-addison-russell if my last post doesn't make my feelings obvious, good stuff, man. just need to find a way to get eyeballs on these. Yeah, if people could retweet, or post a link in other places, it would be greatly appreciated. Duke's work deserves the attention.
  13. I put this out to twitter. Hopefully it gets the attention it deserves. (and hopefully I twittered correctly!)
  14. I'm not seeing it on front page, but you can link but clicking through to cubs articles tab on front page. Tim might have to put it on the front page. Here is a link, though: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/articles/cubs-articles/24-statcast-fun-with-addison-russell I got it there now. When you want to post it to the front page, make sure that it is a "Featured" article.
  15. I'll assume that Tom posted about Concepcion's walk before Edwards came into the game. Or he just didn't want to talk about his boy walking three and giving up a couple runs.
  16. lol @ JD: "Baez vs Baez. Who will be mas Baez?"
  17. Coming into today, he was 15th in the entire minor leagues in wOBA. If you only look at guys 24 and younger, he is 7th.
  18. Odds that Kurkjian thought about it that deeply?
  19. absolutely nothing we do will move the needle, in reality. I don't think it is about increasing the odds as much as it is risk mitigation, though.
  20. It sure would be nice to have Schwarb's left handed bat in the lineup on days like this.
