  1. FIRST PLAYER YOUNGER THAN YOU Gregg Jefferies was the first player to debut who was younger than you. He was born on 7/31/1967 and he made his debut on 9/5/1987, so he was 20! LAST PLAYER OLDER THAN YOU Omar Vizquel was the last player older than you to play in the majors. He was born on 4/23/1967 and last played on 10/2/2012, so he was 45. Sorry, pal, it's not gonna happen for you.
  2. Haha, fair. But at the time I really liked what they did in the offseason and am sure I’m not alone. I, for one, was very unhappy. About Duensing. I was okay to excited with most everything else.
  3. I know it took a whole bunch of tests to find everything wrong in my neck last month. Even then, the doctors disagreed on how much damage there was in there. I had multiple x-rays, ct's and mri's. I'm not sure they really knew for certain until they actually cut me open.
  4. Our top 9 prospects according to...Jim Bowden: Top 9 Prospects: 1. Miguel Amaya, C; 2. Alex Lange, RHP; 3. Nico Hoerner, SS; 4. Brailyn Marquez, LHP; 5. Adbert Alzolay, RHP; 6. Justin Steele, LHP; 7. Aramis Ademan, SS; 8. Brendon Little, LHP; 9. Duane Underwood Jr., RHP. He also ranks our system 19th. Which is somehow four better than the team set to dominate the division for years. https://theathletic.com/483010/2018/08/22/bowden-grading-the-farm-systems-of-all-30-mlb-teams-after-the-trade-deadline/
  5. He was better against righties the past two years, but he was still really good against lefties, too.
  6. You're more drunk than he is. Unfortunately, I haven't had a drink since I broke my neck a month ago. omg - I just discovered why we're losing.
  7. Well, his arm will be fresh.
  8. I understand guys are slumping in masse, but it's kinda funny to say "starts getting deep" about a lineup that has consistently hit Schwarber and Contreras 6th and 7th, while having two of Zobrist, Almora, Happ on the bench every night when they were healthy. To be fair, my quote was "ridiculously deep".
  9. stress reaction* almost positive it's different and less severe Damn, that fits the joke even better.
  10. Me, realizing what my reaction to Yu having a "stress fracture" should have been: I blame ESPN.
  11. As a final lineup improvement: Instead of Caratini, can we see if Schwarber can still catch?
  12. Well, damn. Go get Estrada or someone, plz.
  13. Back to the baseball side of things, he will make the lineup significantly tougher. I'd have to imagine he'll play against most every righty. With Bryant back soon, the ideal lineup starts to get ridiculously deep: RF - Zobrist 2B - Murphy 3B - Bryant 1B - Rizzo SS - Baez LF - Schwarber C - Contreras CF - Heyward Against lefties you can swap out Almora for Schwarbs and Bote/Russell for Murphy. OF defense becomes Zo, Almora, Heyward. boom.
  14. Honestly, that's why I put in the (nearly) zero tolerance policy from the beginning. Given how things have evolved since 2004, I'm glad that we took that approach.
  15. Throw Chapman in that group too. I more appreciated the feeling of certainty at the end of games rather than accepting Chapman himself. With the other two, I accepted them being on the team, but never really accepted them. They are fine distinctions, but they allow me to live with myself more comfortably.
  16. The 40-man is at 39 after Anthony Bass was outrighted but they might have to take Smyly or Hancock off the 60-day DL in September. Leave Hancock on the 60 day. Give Smyly the open spot. DFA Mazzoni and add Webster. Easy peasy. Does he have options remaining? When you put him on the 40, you'd have to option him down to the minors. I guess you could do it after 9/1 and stick him in the MLB bullpen. I'm not sure what the 40 man crunch will look like over the offseason. I hope Hultzen will get up to AA/AAA soon, too. It would be nice to see what he's got in the tank against more advanced hitters.
  17. Kela looked awfully nice this weekend. He was my guy, though I was worried about the cost.
