So, given all the complaining about how Joe doesn't know how to manage a bullpen, I thought I'd look at the bullpen ERA. Cubs are 4th best in baseball despite the injuries, bad Carl appearances and giving a boatload of innings to Bass, Norwood, Butler, Mazzoni, Mills, Happ, Rizzo, Zastryzny, Hancock, Chatwood, Farrell, LaStella, Caratini, Gimenez & Maples. Not to mention being able to get quality innings from Chavez, De La Rosa and Gracia.

Coverage seems disproportionately important to the overall score. -
Every quarterback under and overthrows some balls. Expecting Mitch to be accurate on every throw is not realistic. I only remember the one underthrow (the int) and two overthrows (in the flat and down the seam). Thats...pretty "normal" performance, especially from a QB who is still pretty inexperienced as a starter. What bothers me most is that stupid throw that should have been a 100 yd pick six. But even that is something that may get fixed with experience.

Not in the field, and at least he can say that he's a rookie adjusting to the league. Fun fact: Bote is older than Addison.

His reads aren't great, but he had a lot of problems with his throws tonight too. The time for being graded on a curve runs out eventually. Honestly, as long as we see progress as the year goes on I'll be okay with it.
