  1. Don't know how this is going to translate to the next level, didn't realize how much he swings those elbows - [tweet]https://twitter.com/loudlong/status/1370884730736963588[/tweet] I think Garza' biggest strength is the three ball, he can draw opposing big's out the paint thereby opening it up. Probably won't be a bad at rebounding either, with his size, mass and smarts he'll do OK on the boards. Kofi's more athletic, if he can develop a three ball and little jumper, he's looking at the first round for certain. Iowa sucks. It's BS that he can get away with that horsefeathers, but we had that weak ass flagrant called on us to let them back into the game.
  2. Cunningham isn't really impressing me that much so far
  3. Illinois is clearly playing better than Michigan at this point. Baylor has been somewhat shaky since coming back from covid. I may be biased, tho
  4. This team is great
  5. Long time coming, about time Rutgers got their asses kicked by the Illini. 44-19 is quite the rebounding edge.
  6. I think it's fair to say that Ayo does.
  7. https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2021/03/11/building-something-special-the-story-of-max-bains-journey-to-99-mph/ I want this guy just for his name.
  8. It's admittedly the part I'm least sure about in the whole process. I would be a little surprised if it got close to $100/person in practice, but it's definitely possible it's higher than $50. Every $4 or so is another 10 million given the previous assumptions, so you can calibrate with that how you like. Whatever fan survey statistic had the Cubs as the highest cost for a family of four, which was like $375 or something. So a little under $100 per person in revenue. That included parking, which doesn't go to the Cubs. It also included concessions, which you have to remove the cost to get to the profit. So I'd guess it's closer to $75 / person. Which means there's still a ton of money for players.
  9. By about three years.
  10. So...with Maples and Brothers both throwing strikes this spring...What if the next evolution of the pitch lab is to be able to take wild men with great stuff and teaching them to command it?
  11. I just canceled Hulu, in part because of Marquee being removed. I'm leaning toward ATT TV to get Marquee, or buying the MLB.tv package. Idk if MLB.tv applies blackout rules by your billing info or by your device location at the time of streaming. Does anyone use MLB.tv with a VPN? holy crap - hey there Chuck!
  12. YEAH BABY! 1 seed coming!
  13. I would have guessed that Vitale had passed away until I found him on this Illinois OSU game.
  14. Holy cow Norwood, Rucker & Gamez. Nice finish.
  15. Boog is a pretty prestigious baseball name
  16. Yep - identical to the Hossa situation. I don't remember what that situation meant either. I'm a big NFL cap nerd, used to be a big NBA nerd and know enough still. Basically lost with the NHL. I guess, what's the practical usefulness? Mid-season trade room, but not FA cap room? Essentially. I'm no expert on these things, but that's the essence of it. You can use it year round, but then your roster is frozen for the year. Really frozen - you can't even bring up players due to injuries, you just have to play shorthanded.
  17. So what, they have a cap hold in the offseason that disappear once play starts? Yep - identical to the Hossa situation.
  18. please please please let Javy be okay
  19. Whitehair might be just a guy now. And hopefully Mustipher is for real good. But either way, that's about right, I guess I just don't call that "emerging". Just kind of existing? Whitehair was well above average once he moved to LG in the second half (of course there is a question of the quality of opponents during the win streak at the end). I'm going to need to see more from Mustipher; ideally they wouldn't go to camp next year with some competition for him. Either way, like goony, I'm definitely more confident on the interior than the tackles. With the number of cuts across the league, hopefully adding a guy like Wilson will help them attract competent players on the cheap. They have four competent guys in the middle with Mustipher, Whitehair, Daniels & Bars. If Bars is capable of sliding to RT, they've "only" need a LT to have a solid line.
  20. I feel way better than I think I should about this year's pitching staff.
  21. That was as boring as a two run inning gets. HBP ground ball single through the hole Walk ground out scores run ground out scores run strikeout Would have been super frustrating as a Mariners fan, though. Both groundouts should have been double plays.
  22. I second that thought. I'd like to see this exact game again next weekend.
  23. Wow...what a statement game.
  24. I had to get back to work unfortunately. Can't even follow on gameday today. :( Stupid conference calls. Little looked good overall, then?
  25. I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say that’s his cleanest inning ever as a Cub. His misses weren’t even misses, it’s one ST inning so literally can’t take anything but his arm motion looked shorter. Almost like Adam. I'd have to look at old video, but that's a lot different than how I remember his delivery.
