  1. For those interested and with access, today's game is free on MLB.TV.
  2. I don't know if that will be even possible if he gets shelled by tossing BP today. If he flops then a DFA might be around the corner. I think the only way he stays on life support in the rotation is if he gives upmammax of 4mruns and goes at least 5. We need to see what we have in Brown long term, plus with Taillon back we have the hope he has turned it around as per the article posted.

  4. Well, that bit. Adbert sure hasn't been nails but like everyone has alluded to, who do you put in his place? We need Leiter in the setup role and the other pen arms can't throw strikes. The offense was really bad today but missing Happ & Suzuki is really detrimental, especially Suzuki.
  5. What I'm hoping to see: 1. Morel waits for a good pitch & jumps on it. He had been very good patience in the first few games. 2. Hoerner & Wisdom both have good days at the plate, we'll need it.
  6. No disappointment from me, if they win fine and if not no biggie.
  7. Just saw the highlights, great game and Taillon did what was expected against a cellar dweller. I hope he can give us good MOR performance and numbers as a # 3. The offense scored early and often and Nico seems to be coming out of his slump. No reason we can't sweep this series.
  8. As much as I love the Prof and his eternal contributions, I was not a fan of them picking up his option. That money could have been used to pay for the majority of a salary for Montgomery. But I digress and he is defintely not a BP arm, but the point stands as to how long you keep sending him out with it being a highly probable loss?
  9. He will probably be on an innings limit this year to boot. All in all, the future is really bright with the farm we have. I expect this year's draft should net us another good pitching prospect or 2.
  10. Do you think he will adjust to the múltiple 97+ MPH 4 seamers with movement in MLB? Does he have the bat speed to get around a good FB in the zone?
  11. Curious question for 1908 & the minor league crowd. Will Horton bump up to AAA or go directly to the show? I mean if he dominates for the next 2 months where do you project him landing by the end of June?
  12. Just saw the highlights, great & gritty win. The Snakes just won't go away but tonight Wesneski shut the door. The offense scored enough, getting key hits from Belli & Busch. Morel's D at 3rd is starting to even out, with some pretty solid plays recently. All in all not a bad road trip but we really should be 13-5 if it were not for the 2 BP implosions.
  13. Been a while, howdi peeps. It's a shame Seiya being hurt with that hot start he had gotten off too. Like others have said Belli, Happ, Swanson, & Nico will have to step up. This might be a very critical start for the Prof, likely meaning if he gives up batting practice again he's toast.
  14. Georgie Mc chiming in supporting a trade down if the opportunity presents itself.
  15. Georgie Mc chiming in supporting a trade down if the opportunity presents itself.
  16. Sorry, poor choice of words. Will there be a list in order of who is next if & when the Cubbies lose?
  17. I'll do one when it's my turn. Will a table with the date & opposing team be posted?
  18. I actually think it's a great deal for both sides. Nico gets 35M guaranteed and the Cubs get 4 years of cost certainly (This year plus 3 extension years) to coverage his remaining 2 Arb years and 1 FA year. Nico should be trending up this year & should fall into the 4.5-5 WAR range. That equates to a 32-40M value since each WAR is worth roughly 8M per year. Within that will be positive DRS & UZR values (GG possible this year) so it should add up to be a great deal.
  19. Well, I'm back after my mental meltdown 7 some odd years ago. I've served my time in the IDIOTACounty lockup and have been released on good behavior. Hope to keep it real and contribute around these parts. Howdi all!!!
  20. All of you can suck MY ASS in the brown spot!!!!
  21. I try to post quality threads and get juvenile replies and now a thread is locked that I bumped because it is more relevant than the other which again is full of childish nonsense. I'm done. This place makes you want to be a Sox fan. :good: :good: :good: :nono: :nono: :nono:
  22. Bumping this because it is now getting wide spread coverage from most sports sites that cover MLB, ESPN, Foxsports, etc. I guess I would like to know what you would offer as your best proposal to Jake? Bear in mind the the recent spate of articles detailing how the Cubs first offered 4/84 last year and Jake's agent (Boras) using Scherzer's 7/210 as a "Starting Point". Based on this I just can't see the Cubs FO going for more than 6 years max. Would you propose something like this to try and meet in the middle and bridge the gap or if not how different would your contract parameters be? 6/186M Year 1 2017 Buy out last ARB year 23M Year 2 2018 1st year FA 28M Year 3 2019 2nd year FA 30M Year 4 2020 3rd year FA 31M Year 5 2021 4th year FA 31M Year 6 2022 5th year FA 29M or 7M buyout depending on objectives from 2021 (200 innings pitched, sub 2.50 ERA, top 5 in Cy Young as examples, 20-25 Quality starts) Total earned 2017-2022 172M 14M split into 7 year deferral 2023-2029 2M each year.
  23. More smoke from sportsmockery. http://sportsmockery.com/2016/05/source-indicates-cubs-working-on-blockbuster-trade-for-former-mvp/ We’re about six weeks into the baseball season which usually means that trade rumors really start flying around. And there’s certainly no bigger one than what TerezOwens.com is reporting today. “A source close to the situation tells us the Angels and Chicago Cubs are in early discussions to make a blockbuster trade for superstar outfielder Mike Trout. The 24-year-old outfielder is owed $15.25 million this year, $19.25 million next year and $33.25 million each of the following three years. The deal would be Mike Trout for 5 of the Chicago Cubs top prospects.” Now, we’re certainly not saying that he’s the most reliable source in the game, but there have been recent rumors in Chicago surrounding such a deal, so this only adds fuel to that fire. There are numerous articles floating around the web claiming Chicago is investigating Trout, TerezOwens.com is the first one to put a source on it.
  24. When one of the premier sabre metric sites labels you as the closest thing to a dominant "perfect" team that has to be great right? Have a look.
