  1. This is not unlike watching Ohio St play Notre Dame. All you can hope for is that the Terrorists will win.
  2. I thought this as well. But kid has been lights out this year, and he still is only 24 years old. Dont think he will ever be a staff ace, but if he can continue progressing, there is no reason that he cant be a solid 3-5 staff pitcher for a long time in the game- not unlike a Jamie Moyer that we gave up on a long time ago.
  3. He hosts a weekly baseball show on XM Radio. Heard him this weekend and now i know he knew that this was going to happen. He said that he wasnt interested right now in managing until his kids get into college b/c he wanted to spend time with them. Him and his brother own the Aberdeen Orioles farm club, i believe.
  4. How long now until the Cards sign Tomo and Duncan turns him into Cy Ohka? Also Finley was granted his release from the Rockies today. So if Edmonds is down for any length of time, they might go in that direction. Skip Shumaker really isnt the answer to any ?.
  5. One of the guys i would be interested in replacing Barrett for is Napoli. Napoli .243/.341/.454/.785, 25 yrs old and threw out 31% of runners last year (although he has sucked at 20% this year) in 48 games. Also only 2 PBs in 716 innings last year, 1 in 406 this year. v. Barrett .252/.305/.427/.732, 30 yr old FA in 50 games. 10 PB in 852 innings last year, 8 in 466 this year. Angels pitching staff isnt that much different than the Cubs...fastball/slider city. Doesnt look like much of an upgrade to me. Maybe the Angels go for it, but i think they would be crazy.
  6. Why? 33 ABs for Z, v 2.0 is a big enough sample size- only takes 25 to 30 for a true sample (depending on who you ask and who you believe).
  7. Jose Reyes might do it.
  8. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/stats/players/index.php?lastName=barrett
  9. Corey Patterson (552) Juan Pierre (642) Jerry Hairston Jr. (704) Neifi Perez (488 + Infinity- You cant ever hope to understand the Neifury) Nomar Garciaparra (646) John Mabry (466) Mark Grudzelanek (729) Ramon Martinez (413) and SAMMY SOSA (758)
  10. The back to back to back HRs by the 7-8-9 including a pitcher. Never done before last week by LA. Seriously, Connie Mack's Win and Loss totals as Manager. Cy Youngs Win Total, Batters Faced Total and IP total. Nolan Ryans Wild Pitch mark. There may only be 1 person that can ever take down Aarons Total Base record, and that is ARod. Should be really close if ARod has a productive remainder of his career.
  11. I would like to get Napoli from the Angels, but they really dont need anything.
  12. If this turns into a bean ball war, will anyone be concerned with getting hit? Go Cubbies.
  13. Big Papi is going to the Kennel this week. First, he got tossed in the 1st inning for arguing balls and strikes last nite (Baseball Tonight was upset he got tossed even though he was clearly arguing balls and strikes which is an automatic ejection and showing up the ump.) Then after tonights game, he went Ozzie Guillen on the Umps to the Boston Press. Somehow, I dont think Mr. Watson is going to approve.
  14. This confirms quite a few things about IMB.
  15. I will be able to see some of the game before i work. So hooray for early starts. :) Think of it this way....when the game starts, it will only be 10 on the west coast. How would you like to play a game at 10 am? The Cubs management are pulling a sneaky on this one.
  16. Wow, Kill the Commie Hawkeyes now. Vote BeerHere
  17. Reread your post. You are looking for g/f. Only place i know for that is the Hardball Times. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/teams/
  18. Word on the street is that Mr Blanco may require surgery if the cortisone injection he received today does not work. If that happens, he will most likely be out for the year.
  19. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/
  20. Joltin Joe Charboneau
  21. Isnt it kind of early to be doing that? Game doesnt start for another 22 hours.
  22. Memo to the PCL pitchers: Ronny Cedeno is hot. 1-1 with a sac so far tonight. He is 5 for his last 5, 7 for his last 10, and 13 for his last 25. Ronny-O-Meter reads: .354
  23. http://sports.espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/story?id=2905667 The Cubs have been quite the Clubhouse Trend setters of late. Colon has been suspended 7 games after inadvertently punching the wrong teammate who was trying to break up the scuffle. It broke the closers cheek bones and he is probably out the rest of the year. The crime: someone turned down his Ipod. Everyone is Kung Fu Fighting.
  24. Lilly dropped a great bunt down the 1b line on him in his first AB and almost beat it out at first. When Wells came to the plate in the 5th, he dropped one down the 3b line and looked at Lilly when he was going back to the dugout to let him know that he could do that too.
