  1. From Toni Ginneti's column: COREY'S QUANDARIES: Corey Patterson didn't play in Class AAA Iowa's 6-0 loss to Tacoma on Thursday. In 14 games with Iowa, Patterson was hitting .185 (10-for-54) with three home runs, six RBI, 11 strikeouts, four walks and five stolen bases in six attempts. Well, good to see he's made some adjustments.
  2. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/332832p-284430c.html Hmmmm, will the Cubs now take Huff and Baez off the DRay's hands?
  3. I finally must post on this. First off, LaTroy is on ANOTHER TEAM. Not the Cubs. Why it would bother a Cub fan to see an opposing player being booed is beyond me. LaTroy himself said it's like my mama said, not everyone is going to like me, it's something I have to deal with. I don't really care if the fans boo me. That was said while he was here. If HE doesn't care, why does he need players FROM AN OPPOSING TEAM defending him. Latroy himself said I don't play for the fans. Hmmmm, that would be grounds enough for a major bashing in my book. FYI, we pay your salary. Now Dusty has said I've seen Corey and LaTroy being booed. It never really happened before I got here. What does that tell you Dusty? It tells me that the retirement home for players that was Wrigley Field is over. Fans are now EXPECTING a winner, and not going to games to have a few beers and enjoy the sunshine. And what do LaTroy and Corey have in common? THEY BOTH SUCKED THIS YEAR. And what's with this quote about Dusty saying that players ask him if it's always this tough at Wrigley. Hey Dusty, this just happened in the last week so I doubt if your phone has been ringing off the hook from potential free agents inquiring about the brutal Wrigley Field playing conditions. And why are you talking to other players anyway? Isn't that considered tampering? And where are these big name free agents that were going to run to Wrigley's front door to play for Dusty? Oh and the next time Derek Lee feels the need to rail on the fans, he might want to think about who it was that voted him into the starting lineup of the all star game, earning him a big bonus. I THINK IT WAS THE VERY FANS HE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT. I have never been prouder of my fellow Cub fans. Finally they are demanding more. If a player doesn't want to play for the Cubs because the fans are too tough, GREAT. I don't want that kind of player on the roster anyway. I wonder what would happen in New York, Boston, Atlanta or anywhere else where the players and manager told the fans to stop booing. I doubt it would fly. Enough of the crying about the treatment of Hawkins. If there was racially motivated comments or comments about his family, then that is too far. If not, shut up and take it. If I remember correctly, didn't Hundley get booed about every time he came to the plate? Good lord, what a waste of time over this guy.
  4. Sports talk radio and the internet have helped create much more cynnical, negative fans. The upside to it is that it's much easier for everyone to find information and learn more about the game, the players and each team. But the downside is the constant second guessing, fans often thinking they know more than management/coaches and never being satisfied. It's become a fixture in the sports landscape regardless of the team or sport. Certainly some of these elements were present at that time also, but not nearly on the level of today. Actually, what caused me to become a cynical and negative fan is the fact that my favorite team hasn't been to a World Series since 1945. I think a 97 year championship drought can tend to do that to some people.
  5. big surprise...dusty taking credit for murton's success. Kind of like how Dusty is taking baby steps in regard to his logic.......Let me guess, Murton could never succeed against the greatness that is Bret Tomko?
  6. "Holly" .253 Murton (rookie) .481 The madness continues...............
  7. Great post !!!!! =D>
  8. Hollandsworth .256 Murton .409 I also liked how the two rookies had key hits yesterday. This will be my last post regarding playing time for the rooks ( I think ). I've finally accepted that Dusty will not give Murton or Cedeno any substantial playing time.
  9. That's one of the funniest things I've read on here in a while.......
  10. And what was Aramis Ramirez doing for the first weeks of the season?? I believe Nomar has played in about 60 games since being acquired. I'm not going to get to wrapped up in NomarMania quite yet.
  11. Before Cub fans start pining for the return of Nomar, could someone tell me what he was hitting at the time of his injury?
  12. Dempster, just a suggestion for next time, DON'T WALK ANYONE!!!!!!!
  13. That's why, northside. Even with all the things you posted, they are at almost the exact same point as they were last year. I give them their props, as much as I hate to.
  14. I believe the quote from Dusty regarding this is "My guys don't bunt." Even though, as the manager, he could have had them working on bunting beginning in spring training. Instead, I guess it's easier to just say "My guys don't bunt". He leaves "Holly" in against a lefty (have to keep "Holly" fresh, another great Dustyism) and brings in Murton to face a righty? Big game Dusty does it again. I'm to the point where I don't know how anyone could defend this boob. Thank god my daughter wanted to watch an Elmo video, and I only got to listen to the first 4 innings, then mercifully, we both fell asleep. :)
  15. Kerry's on the DL?.....shocker. All this production for only 12 million next year? Money well spent.
  16. Shouldn't a scope be inserted in his shoulder so a doctor can look around and figure out what the problem is? Sorry if I'm wrong , but my medical knowledge is lacking.
  17. I would like to see him return next year. I don't see why not, unless he's looking for big money. He's played pretty well defensively and put up alright numbers. Am I in the minority here? I haven't seen a lot of support for this.
  18. Injury-prone pitcher leaves game with "shoulder stiffness". Fans, tired of the same old, same old, react negatively. Illogical or realists?
  19. I am in no way going to bash Kenny Williams. Exec of the Year in my opinion......
  20. Amen, Stubbers. I'm glad I'm not the only one sick of this same old story with him......
  21. Why? I would love for the Cubs to be as successful as the Marlins.
  22. Good thing our team has great chemistry, because they're already out of the division race, and quite a bit behind in the wildcard. I'm glad Sammy's gone, because if the Cubs had this record with him on the team this year, he'd shoulder 100% of the blame, which would be unfair. Just like last year. Gee that's funny, because the main excuses I heard, courtesy of the team, were heat, cold, injuries, announcers and booing fans. I'm sure I left some out.
  23. I'm more ticked that Ray King was let go. He's been nails the last two years. I would imagine he's been more effective than Remlinger.
