  1. Can anyone post some screen shots. I'd really like to watch the game in B&W, but I am at work. All this complaining is baffling to me.
  2. Never really understood KICKball did you? :D
  3. Sure you can. If something happens to your starter, you simply lose the DH for the rest of the game.
  4. Isn't the end of May the 1/3 point of the season?
  5. Gamethread I know, but there is action here. Does any know of any good magazine subscription sites for really cheap deals on Furtune, Forbes, etc?
  6. Somewhere Hawk Harrelson is tracking this in his log of umpiring conspiracies. That's BS! You're DAGGUM right they're going to protest it!
  7. but who knows more more? the child, empty of impressions, or the 50 year old, full of the wrong ones? I am not stating there are trends I see that are untrue (like a players ability with RISP) nor saying something like Lee always tends to strike out with the runners in motion. I am not drawing on these observances here. I am simply stating there are multiple ways major leaguers approach a given at bat. i think that hitters have multiple approaches within a plate appearance depending upon what they're guessing is coming. if they think a fastball is headed their way, they're going to try to hit it out of the park. it's no different with ramirez. his approach is consistent with what he thinks is coming. We agree then, awesome. I was simply contesting the presence of multiple approaches.

  9. When you're looking for them, you tend to see them. A lot of them. That's how cognitive dissonance works. You think players have one swing. Goodnight.
  10. I'm watching him right now. They all look the same to me. It never ceases to amaze me how little some peopl actually see when watching a game. Nor does it amaze me how much people see beyond what is actually happening. It you dont think hitters shorten their swings, push the ball, swing for contact, etc... you have no idea what youre talking about what does it matter what you see? it's probably a lie or a half-truth, anyway. It certainly doesn't matter at all. But when you're not looking for those type of things, or picking up on small details, to me at least, it is like a 5 year old who watches but has no idea why or how.

Nor does it amaze me how much people see beyond what is actually happening. It you dont think hitters shorten their swings, push the ball, swing for contact, etc... you have no idea what youre talking about Cal Ripken had many different batting stances. He would change his primary stance week to week.

  14. I was the puny kid, and was left handed. I was drilled AT LEAST once per game, usually more. Walked more often than not. First year Pony. I had a .000 batting average. Not a single hit all year. But my OBp was through the roof.
  15. If he nets us Sabathia, I will not miss him Any Sabathia deal should hinge on him signing to an extention, otherwise he's not worth Pie. I disagree enormously, considering Sabathia would make us the favorites to win the World Series. Didn't Nomar make us the favorites to win the WS in 2004? Didn't John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, and Richard Nixon all lose presidential elections before winning them?
  16. Now that the proper context has been revealed, the little league "handshake line suckerpunch" incident makes lot more sense.
  17. Maybe if you had managed better, you would've had options on the bench left. I keed!
  18. How could a Dominican lose the ball in the sun?
  19. Well, if you ignore Pittsburgh, not that many This is #9, we are 4-4
  20. Why let stats get in the way of emotions?
