  1. Thats not what I read at all. I read that the proposal is they would be grandfathered in, and a new rule would be putt in place going forward. If these terms are not accepted, then an investigation would be opened.
  2. Come backer hit his pitching hand, didn't break the skin at all. Something may very well be broken, but he didn't seem to be in a ton of pain. Heh...Pat and Ron acted like he was in absolute agony. Mentioned he's headed to the hospital for x-rays immediately. Hoping for a strong finish to the season for Gorzelanny was one of the few things worth watching for me so I hope he's okay. Well initially he collapsed and was clearly in pain. Plus there was the initial scare of "Did it get him in the head?" But when O'neal came out Gorz was rather composed, they discussed, and then headed off.
  3. OK, oldest uninterrupted rivalry. Babe Rinehart ruined it for the game in 1896. Thank you wikipedia. There doesn't appear to have been a Wisconsin-Minnesota game in 1906.

  5. I was at the game, so I have no idea what Bob said. But does the fact that the outcome was a success change the fact the the process was flawed?
  6. I'm thinking Kirk Gibson in 1988. edit: I misread the question. Gibson didn't make the all star team (or any all star team in his career) in '88. I'm not sure if any other MLB MVP failed to make the ASG the year he won the award. You should edit again.
  7. In 2008 Pujols was named the DH, so he started that way. If you count that, then in 2007, Reyes started over Rollins. In 2006, Howard didn't start, and Morneau didn't even make the team.
  8. this is a great question. for those who have season tickets, what types of packages are available? if i were offered a season ticket package, i'm sure i could get a group of friends together to help pay for them. Bleacher season tickets exist.
  9. This rematch of the 1998, er, 2003 playoffs sees Derrek Lee make his long awaited, much anticipated return to the Friendly Confines: http://i32.tinypic.com/jg60c9.jpg As he's grown, his on field performance and off field demeanor have endeared to to fans wherever he has played. Well, as much as could be expected in 22 games for San Diego, and surely to all 1,200 Marlins fans as well. But Chicago became his home, where he was embraced as one of us. http://www.homeruncards.com/imagesrc/derek-lee-sp.jpg http://www.themoneytimes.com/files/imagecache/thumb/Derrek%20Lee_2.jpg http://www.posters.ws/images/834500/derrek_lee_2004_studio_plus_photofile.jpg http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/mlb/players/65/3614.jpg The game itself features the 2010 Cubs, who have done their best impression of Dempster's 2009 Dugout Vault... http://joesportsfan.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/ryandempsterbrokentoe.jpg Really though, it's left us all feeling as though we've been stabbed. http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2010/08/15/PH2010081502603.jpg If only we could watch these games again as when did as children, not looking beyond that afternoon's final score. A young Dempster... http://archive.nsnews.com/issues02/w012102/014302/photos/sp1.jpg And this afternoon's pitching opponent agree: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd105/Braves_Love/2008%20Braves%20rookie%20hazing%20pics%20from%20Carol/IMG012.jpg If only the Cubs could scare Jurrjens as much as running the bases apparently does: http://img.coxnewsweb.com/B/01/69/06/image_8606691.jpg In the end, Ryan Dempster brings it all back into perspective. http://notqualifiedtocomment.com/wp-content/uploads/ryan-dempster-take-your-top-off.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yaJ6UBdB1gc/RwfUH4MEyII/AAAAAAAAASI/gbVU_ugjmvQ/s400/dempsterball.jpg The season may be over, but there are still 11 opportunities left to enjoy a little sun at the old ballpark (and 7 night games).
  10. Sorry for a 4 month bump, but it is pertinent to this topic, feel free to delete, split, merge, etc. The Cubs updated the waiting list numbers in the last day or so. I moved up about 2,600 spots.
  11. Well surely you can't think a coach is responsible. You you want Berg, Hill, or Nady released because of that. Ok then.
  12. Or perhaps you just watch more Cub games than any other team in the league? :-)
  13. Three years it looks like. http://northsidebaseball.com/forum/topic?f=26&t=42725&p=1441131#p1441131
  14. Gentlemen, I am not complaining..... merely surprised !! Tell ya what..... Mike, how 'bout you keep starting threads until the CUBS lose (or tomorrow, whichever comes first), and then Gary, how 'bout you take over after that ???? Meanwhile, I'm going to Ardmore. See ya !!! Coming out of a 4 or so year game thread retirement for either Dempster (11-8) vs Jurrjens (5-4) or Gorzelanny (6-7) vs Hanson (8-8) Bring it Atlanta.
  15. Three 3 year olds and a two year old, when did he practice football that season?
  16. Cup odds: Chicago +650 Detroit +1200 or Chicago +600 Detroit +1000 West odds Chicago +300 Detroit +500 Central odds: Chicago -167 Detroit +225 St Louis +1200 Nashville +1200 Columbus +5000
  17. Might as well be. Blagoyevich pretty much ran the state from his offices here and don't get me started on King Richard II. Does anything south of I-80 really matter? I thought he was using the adjective, not the noun, capital.
  18. The opening of the first leg of the match up between Young Boys and the Spurs has been terrific.
  19. Well, my wife will be quite pleased at today's events.
