  1. Yeah...everyone wanted the overreactors out of game threads. This is what we're left with lol. Fun stuff, not sure if it's a good thing. The question. Is a lot of posts (some good, some bad, some....unique), or barely any posts (mostly good), better? To me, the other way was more entertaining, to say the least.
  2. These game threads this year are just full of excitement and enthusiasm...
  3. He's been worse than our fifth starter the last 4 years. Gorzelanny, in 23 starts last year, 1.50 WHIP, 4.22 ERA, 1.81 K/BB Zito, last 2 years, 1.349 WHIP, 4.09 ERA, 1.84 K/BB A lot better whip, and slightly better numbers otherwise. Can't say he would have been our worst starter last year. 2 years ago, yes he would have been. This year, I would bet Zito would be better than Silva. However, if Cash actually has a chance to win a rotation spot, I'd rather Zito not be around to possibly take it away from him.
  4. If he gets cut, would anyone really be opposed to the Cubs giving this guy a chance? He probably wouldn't be worse than what else we would have as our fifth starter.
  5. Really hoping that this means Silva has destroyed any shot he had at the rotation. I really don't see how Aramis can get much of the blame or become a scapegoat. I think he's going to have a big year.
  6. Yankees. Why? Kerry Wood get your damn ring.
  7. Would anyone even give a sh** about flippin Shark if he wasn't a former wide receiver at ND? He's old for a prospect, he walks a batters like crazy, and hasn't posted standout numbers in about 4 years. Random pitcher X, who is identical to Shark (numbers, stuff), but wasn't a football player who picked baseball over the NFL, nobody would really care all that much. His entire fan perceived value is because of his name, I doubt any GM wants anything to do with him, at least at this point. MAYBE he would have turned out decent if they had sent him through the minors more wisely, but they didn't.
  8. Haha, when he got back to the dugout after his home run, Byrd goes, "Time to make a statement, NOW"
  9. Haha, reminds me of the time in entourage when Ari is arguing over his settlement price with Terrance, "Hard to believe you've been married four times."
  10. But dude, I mean all those guys stink just like Cutler though, so I don't see your point.
  11. Hmm. CCP making pretty much the exact same point I did (and notice I never once called Cutler a "bust"), yet no hysterical "I can't believe this guy" responses. You're not saying anything close to the exact same thing. So what have I said that's different from what he said? You specifically said you'd rather have 2400-yard, 15-TD, 10-pick seasons. Yeah, that's one of the single, dumbest things I have ever read on this board.
  12. Amen to that... Jimmy Ballgame #2, Gary Gaetti #3. The summers of 08, 03 and 98 were very rare good times to be a Cubs fan. Can't wait for 2013 I guess. About Edmonds, I'll never forget his little bat flip toward Larussa after crushing a Looper fastball. I think it was a home game in August. Jimmy went yard twice that day, and came out for a curtain call after the 2nd, Cubs ended up winning 3-2. Cards fans I know openly admitted how much that game ripped their hearts out. I was at that game, it was amazing. Edmonds is the man, great summer of baseball with him on the team.
  13. amazingly well? he hits a bunch of singles 2009 vs RHP - .291/.344/.360 2008 vs RHP - .298/.355/.413 2006 vs RHP - .292/.339/.399 fontenot has a career OPS of like 35 points higher than inglett Say what you want, but for $500,000 a year, I would be very happy with those numbers for my left-handed #2 hitter against RHPs. Mike Fontenot might hit .236/.301/.377 again (last year's numbers) and get paid twice that. Who cares, Fontenot is easily better, and don't say he's getting paid twice that like it actually means something. It's not like your comparing a guy who makes 8 million or 16 million, its a 500,000 difference, it doesn't mean a thing. PASS!
  14. Lol, due to Hendry's situation (no money to spend) and the fact that if he doesn't make a significant trade then its almost automatically a "break" offseason, along with the fact that if he DOES make a trade then people will most likely want to kill Hendry for trading away our prospects when we finally have some that are promising, Hendry is pretty screwed (thank god). So, hopefully we will have someone with some seriously ownage GM skills at GM in 2011.
  15. I dont think that would be enough, they would definitely want at least another prospect or another two mid level prospects. Flaherty to me isn't worth a great deal. I was going off of the Jim Callis quote above.
  16. I would do Flaherty, Fox, and Jackson for Granderson. But that's the most I would offer.
  17. Forget it then, they can keep Granderson. I don't want to trade Castro or Vitters unless we are getting a Hanley or Ryan Braun type player. I'd rather have Sam Fuld play CF next year than trade away any of our top 4 (Castro, Vitters, Cashner, B Jackson), and I'd like to not trade J Jackson, or Lee either, but for Granderson I would if the deal was right.
  18. yeah...its really depressing just thinking about that moment....
  19. Overpowering with the fastball and they are looking silly on the changeups.
