Yeah, that much I knew. I guess I should've asked what the %$#@! Patterson was doing. He was running with the pitch. So then why is everyone calling it the worst running play ever?

Well he got out of it. I guess we can't use Wood EVERY game can we? I really would like to though. Him and Ohman (for lefty's) are the only two I trust completely in the pen (along with dempster but he closes).

2 runs allowed in coors field in 6 innings, yes quality start. good job today by mark. agreed. my point was 6 INNINGS. at this point, an economy of pitches would only benefit the team, given the bullpen. nitpicking, i realize... he struggled a little with control, but it seemed like the rockies just fouled off lots of pitches and had good at-bats. Not much you can do about that except tip your caps to the Rockies. Despite not having pure dominating stuff, he struck out 10 walked 2 and only gave up 5 hits (slightly over a 1 WHIP).

debatable? I guess you expect a shutout in coors field. 6 IP 10K's 2 BB's 2 R. Solid quality outing. He put the Cubs in a position to win the game, we'll see if they do. I expect a 2 IP out of Wood tonight.

I agree with the point he's making though. Knee jerk reactions are okay in moderation, but they can ruin a game thread for others when they are as common as they have been. Seriously. 2 innings into a game and it's 1-1 and all of a sudden prior sucks, he had a nother "big game performance". It's absoutely ludicrous. I wish people would hit the preview button, actually READ what they write, and then hit submit. It would stop some of the ______ posts that I see in every game thread.

True, except we play the stros 9 more times. IF we win the next two (against Petitte and Oswalt - slim chance) we'll be 5 and half out. If we can get to 4 games out by september we have a shot. If we lose this series we are done. -
A pirates TV announcer on an interview on ESPN 1000 said it WAS NOT a cost cutting move. They would have let Lawton go anyway because he was a free agent and had already paid most of his salary, plus they picked up more. It was Gerut for Lawton + Cash if I recall correctly.
